My wife has our account linked and it only works on her account. If I try to transfer money, the system blocks me and it says “bank already listed” if I try to add my own. The plaid connector isn’t great for linking. The unrealized / realized gains is pretty misleading for end users. You have to go into a specific account to get details but it mixes type of account. From a platform fee and minimum ux, the site works well. There are very low level fixes that haven’t been prioritized and can rapidly enhance the user experience. ### 3/5 — Amateur *2026-06-02, version 4.0.26* Being forced to use the iPhone app on my iPad is annoying! Essentially, I’m forced to use a browser on my Windows PC. ### 2/5 — Missing iPad App *2026-05-31* Go to the website with an iPad and it tells you to continue with the desktop website (which it doesn’t allow you to do) or get the app. Well, this here is this app. And it’s an iPhone only app. I can simulate an iPhone screen on my iPad and run the client that way, but it’s not an iPad app. Make an iPad client please! ### 4/5 — Good but not great *2026-05-11* I like this app but since I am using a financial advisor I mostly use it to check on my investments and rarely the other functions. As such a user, would I imagine is fairly common, there are a couple of features I’d really like to have. First of all, on the front page I’d like to have today’s change. Currently the smallest amount is one week, I would like to see the change since yesterday, or the last business day. Secondly, I like it to remember which page I use. Currently I use the one week because it’s the closest to one day… But whenever I launch the app it reverts back to one year which is pretty useless for my purposes. ### 2/5 — Not working *2026-03-09, version 4.0.20* I have always used the App but now it just goes to a black screen. Not sure if app or my phone or both but doesn’t work anymore ### 3/5 — Why can’t you put nicknames on accounts *2026-03-06* The app is OK but since most banks will not expose your actual account number, what you see in altruist is a random account number. You can’t put a nickname on the account so if you have multiple funding accounts you’ll have to guess every time you deposit and if you’re wrong you get slapped with a fee ### 3/5 — Just ok *2025-10-10* It’s a decent portal to look at very basic information. I’m surprised there’s no intra-day chart or a search function. Pie charts would be really helpful if you were able to click on the account and click on statistics then have all these numbers and charts to look at, convenience is key and it’s the small things that matter. ### 4/5 — Cannot use Face ID *2025-08-10* Since a recent update, Face ID to login no longer “saves”. The app is making me enter the email and password every time I want to login. It’s a PITA. **Developer response:** Hi there – thanks for your feedback and for flagging this! We recently made a change to the performance chart on mobile that adjusted the graph scaling to make it more intuitive. Unfortunately, it ended up flattening the charts across all timeframes. The screens are simple and easy to navigate, but this is fluffy stuff. I am not hard core, but I do like more data without needing to go to a different sight. Also, not being able to use browser on my iPad doubles the disappointment. I still might have my advisor switch me to a more full featured platform. **Developer response:** We appreciate the feedback. While we’ve designed the app to be simple and approachable for most users, we understand that some clients prefer more in-depth data at their fingertips. We're actively working on ways to bring more detail and insights directly into the mobile experience, without requiring a separate platform. We also recognize the importance of a great experience across all devices, including iPads. A responsive web version is on our roadmap and expected later this year, which should offer a much-improved experience for tablet users. It’s very obvious they are built for RIAs and that’s where their focus is. If Altruist doesn’t start really thinking about the end user experience on their app/desktop site (or lack thereof) they will hit a wall at some point. The platform lacks most features found on Schwab, etc. Even the weak JPM Chase self directed app blows this away. I regret moving to Altruist and will likely have my advisor move everything back soon. Something as simple as getting estimated annual divs/int can’t be found…it’s really a low info app. Really wish Altruist would focus on an advanced user level or something. Instead, they keep announcing the newest RIA tools for onboarding. Who cares if you’re a client trying to use the app for info. I suspect they’re intentionally hiding information to discourage analysis of the RIA’s performance. ### 1/5 — Pathetic *2026-07-08* These clowns don’t even have a functioning website for mobile devices. Now I see their REQUIRED app (unless you want to dig out your PC) is only for iPhone iOS (no iPad, hahaha). Tells me so much about the operation. Also, I downloaded the app on a burner phone (just for fun) and my active 2-factor authentication from the website doesn’t work (asked to setup as new). The app then verified my identity with a non registered number of my choosing. Real safe Grow up children! ### 1/5 — Update broke the app *2026-05-08, version 4.0.25* It was working. Now the app won't login because of an update. Furthermore, the views of performance of stocks, portfolio positions, and details about my holdings is abysmally simplistic. Frustrating, do better. ### 1/5 — Forced to download an app I can’t even get into *2026-04-08, version 4.0.22* Why you’re forced to download an app on a mobile device is insane. Im tired of companies data mining. And even after downloading the app, it’s unusable. As a first step, it takes you to a screen to enter a code from your Authenticator app. What Authenticator app? This is my first time logging in so that’s not set up yet. And now even with force closing the application and restarting my phone, all it does is take me back to that screen. There is no way to leave that screen. ### 1/5 — Poor app *2026-01-03, version 4.0.17* This app has only minimal functionality and once it gets stuck on authentication, it doesn’t function. Not helpful at all. ### 1/5 — Latest update broke it *2025-07-24* I updated my app a couple of days ago, around July 22, and since then the graph is showing nearly flat in the six month mode. Also, I can’t find no way to get help from the app. It’s never been great, but at least I was able to see a snapshot of how I’m doing based on the graph. Now this app is essentially worthless to me. I am an end client on the Altruist platform, but also an advisor on the platform, so I regularly log in as any end client would to review my personal accounts and experience the app the way that they do. First and foremost, the app is incredibly stable. It loads quickly, with accurate information and functionality, at any hour of any day. This may seem like a given these days, but it is not, and it is the most important feature of any app with critically important information in my view. Second, the layout and ease of use is excellent.
