For a long time, this app was garbage, but still functional. (Meaning it let you control the vacuum remotely, you could *sometimes* get it to go on a schedule. The menus and options were “useable” as long as you were able to interpret what the obviously non-English-native were trying to convey.) With a recent update, now basic functions, like seeing the battery level or telling the robot to start cleaning, are blocked behind adds. You have to sit and watch 30sec commercials before you can even do anything. This is obviously focused on the app and software, but I can tell you the physical vacuum is constructed just as poorly. Won’t let me edit the schedule I made when I set the robot up the very first time and won’t let me create new ones either. Useless. Second, I have never in my life had an app that controlled my purchased product have a 30 second ad every 10 seconds. It connected to my 5g just fine for exactly a week. Now all the sudden it can’t. I had an ad maybe once a session. Now I can’t click anything without a 30 second ad. You would think for as technically savvy as the product is, the firmware and app developer would be able to build something compatible with technology of this decade. I bought the A90+ with the suction tower back in like early 2022 and having a cat it was GREAT. App was always a little buggy but still worked, mapping always sucked. Latter half of 2023 the app began to crash, and couldn’t even log in. I could still press the button on the unit for it to clean but no access to smart functions like scheduling, WiFi config, suction or mopping intensities. After almost a FULL YEAR of pure manual offline usage I decided to download the app again tonight…and FINALLY have smart function access again. Even with the terrible ads, and still buggy and laggy…it’s nice to have access again and some salvaging of my $300. Company clearly had some money issues and had to sell out to stay afloat. If they have any hope of saving however much of this product that’s still sitting in warehouses and making it reputable they NEED to get rid of the ads. But otherwise I will say this vacuum has been cleaning for me (pretty well I will concede) with no hardware problems for two years…so that’s something. I find that this app is extremely functional and gives quite a bit of function to the product ability to service my cleaning needs. Once you take the time to learn what is all involved in the app most of the Low ratings should improve. The docking, charging, emptying and remote control functions work perfectly. There’s also help with support that will answer your questions that you can find on their message page. The Con It is not clearly indicated that the battery life is only for one year. When asked on 2/25/2022, how to purchase an extra battery, the information received is, it will be available in 2 months. I am attempting to connect the A90+ to my Alexa for scheduled cleaning and will review later. ### 4/5 — Needs to improve *2021-02-14, version 2.0.6* It is true that the app needs improvements, but it is not too bad, I managed to configure the robot vacuum well and even the app works quite well. Now the bad: the app is horrible, even though I have it programmed to clean twice per week it rarely does, it doesn’t stay connected to the charger without some help so unless I babysit, it isn’t fully charged. ### 3/5 — Review update ver. 3.4.18 *2021-03-21, version 2.1.0* Update 3/18/21. Version 2.1.0. Firmware update window is now scrollable, so iPhone users should now be able to update the vacuum firmware to version 3.4.18. Smart map function seems to be working again. It took about 5 minutes after vac returned to dock for the map to be generated. I was able to specify a region or room in the map editor, but I could not get the vac to clean just that specified region or room. Trying to clean a region started a whole house clean and specifying a room just brought the vac off the dock a few feet, before it announced it was finished cleaning and was returning to dock. I haven’t tried setting a no-go “penalty” area yet, nor have a tried the timed cleaning function yet. So - some progress, but still plenty of room for improvement. Update 3/7/21. I was finally able to up date the bot firmware to version 3.4.18. Here’s how I got it work: downloaded app to my iPad. Logged in with the iPad app, used the sharing function in the iPhone XiaoShan Pro app to share device info with iPad XiaoShan Pro app. You’ll receive an error message to the effect “cannot share with yourself”, disregard that message. Quit the iPhone app, go to the firmware update tab in the iPad app. There will be a button “Download and Install Update”. Click that and wait (I waited about 5 minutes). I never got a notification that the firmware had been successfully updated, but when I quit and restarted the iPad app, it showed updated and that I had the most current version. It also now shows current on my iPhone. I do not now why the download and install button isn’t (wasn’t) visible on my iPhone. It may have something to do with a setting on my iPhone I enabled to enlarge text to make it easier for me to read. Essentially “pushing” the button off screen. Since the firmware update page isn’t scrollable, there’s no way to see, or know, that the button is there... Hopefully XiaoShan will see this and make changes to the app to either allow for differing, larger, text sizes, or make the page scrollable. Original Review: I’ve held off 2 months on this review. App just seems to get worse. App shows updated version about a month ago, there was a firmware update released for the vac itself at about the same time (ver 3.4.18), but no way to install the firmware update from the setup page. Since updating the app, I can no longer use the smart map feature. Presumably because it’s mismatched with the firmware. Questions to the company via email and through their contact within the app go unanswered. Clicking on the application support link on app description page returns a 404 error, overlaid on a page written entirely in Chinese.
