I like the art style in the menus. But the background animations are way too much for me, the playfield is unnecessarily small (visually), and I wish I could see what items I currently have. ### 3/5 — It's Bomberman, but not quite *2024-02-03, version 1.3.0* It's great to see Bomberman on Arcade, but it's not as pure as you might remember from versions in the last 10-20 years. Also, you cannot use a controller, despite other Apple Arcade games supporting controllers. You can mess around with them but they aren’t great. There isn’t any controller support either so there aren’t alternatives for it. The other thing is there is a lot going on the screen. It’s hard to tell what’s the background effects or bomb effects at times. There is just a lot going on. I use to love bomberman on the game boy and I was excited to play it again, but this isn’t it for me. ### 5/5 — Finally Bomberman on iPad *2023-07-10* Waited for this for many years. I like the music twist. ### 3/5 — All it is right now is a cool concept *2023-06-09, version 1.3.0* As a fan of the recent Bomberman games, I didn’t know what to expect from a Bomberman game that incorporates music and rhythm into the gameplay, but the twist is actually pretty ingenius. Not only will bombs, power-ups and curses drop in accordance to the rhythm, but also the intensity of the gameplay will try to match the music, making the gameplay, almost as though its part of the music video. So you can expect the song’s drop to add more power-ups or the song’s bridge maybe slow things down. It almost puts a new definition of the concept of a “rhythm game.” But its pretty short on content. As of writing, it only has 10 songs, so they’re guaranteed to repeat alot, if you’re looking to max out your level. The cosmetics unlocked are lacklustre and don’t mean much to the players you go up against. The scoring system is maybe a bit unrefined, with huge swings towards bombing the lead player. Tracks at the moment have the same grid design to them, and don’t use alot of stage obstacles seen in other Bomberman games. Also, I think the game can benefit from adding the classic elimination arena mode alongside. Also, it makes the poor decision, to release a multiplayer mode that doesn’t support all players on one system. I think this can become a great Bomberman game, that I would introduce to my family that loves Bomberman, but this game at the moment only has a good twist and a lovely aesthetic to it. It says I’m the winner 🏆 but I’m really not, I’m just the loser in 4th place 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 I can’t even play because for some reason I look at the background and listen to the song more than I play. 😫 number 2, WHAT IN THE WORLD IS THE MUSIC AND THE BACKGROUND?! It’s like a disappointment. it tricks you making you think you’re the winner 🏆 but you’re really not the winner. (Did I say that already?) I hate it and when I try to kill the others or maybe the score leader I always end up killing myself. or the other CPUs run away from my 💣. Anyway, this game is RIDICULOUSLY ANNOYING. ### 1/5 — Bombed *2024-10-06, version 1.3.0* Who thought this was a good idea? The game plays like a headache in an asylum. The wire boxes make it very hard to tell what’s going on and the lighting seems designed to provoke a seizure in the player. The rule changes make play chaotic and stressful in a bad way. The original Bomberman is one of my favourite games. This is not. ### 1/5 — Too many special effects *2024-07-06* This game would be perfect if they went back to their roots and made it like Mega Bomberman without all of the special effects. All of the flashy lights and music is sensory overload and makes it unenjoyable. It makes it so hard to focus on the game. Just remove them and align the game play graphics to the old bomberman. So congrats to the person who said "let's make the game translucent and play a video behind the game". You did it! (The setting that allows you to mess with the opacity of the video a tiny bit of is just insulting. The visual effects are insanely distracting.
