### 2/5 — Works but kidnapped my original music

*2025-11-26*

It automatically kidnapped my original music I downloaded from my site.. then only gave a 30 second demo of each 😡

### 3/5 — Works OK.

*2025-11-05*

The very first thing I look for before downloading a new app is the app privacy. If it doesn’t show “Data Not Collected” then I’m much less likely to give it a serious look. Amazing Slow Downer passes the Data Privacy test so on that score it gets 10 out of 5.

I have other slow downer type apps as well but I’m looking to be able to recommend apps to my students. The difficulty I have with this app is that I don’t use Apple Music. I just do it the old fashioned way - buying individual songs. But I can’t seem to use Amazing Slow Downer with the selection of songs I have in iTunes. It seems limited to the online Apple Music and I find that puzzling.

### 3/5 — Spotify NOT supported

*2025-10-29*

Unfortunately Apple Music only supported

### 4/5 — Excellent app for transcribing.

*2024-12-06*

I have been using this app for years. I have the full version but it’s still the lite app with unlocked features. Overall an excellent app. It does exactly what you want it to do. Fine tune looping of sections of music, pitch shift and slow down feature, plus lots more.

The one thing I find annoying is that there is no auto lock over ride feature. I have to disable auto lock every time so that I don’t have to keep unlocking my phone after a minute. If this can be fixed in an update, then it’s worth 5 stars.

**Developer response:** Look here:

### 3/5 — REVIEW and requests

*2024-04-28, version 6.8.9*

I’ve used ASD for over five years as a professional drum teacher. There are pros and cons and I hope the developer reads this.

The good: easy to use and load, very stable for me on iPad/ iPhone and the algorithm has shockingly high quality playback with minimal artifacts. I appreciate being able to create and save loops (more on that later). Big buttons are nice on the fly. Integration with iTunes library makes life easy to organize.

I appreciate that the cost is upfront and not a subscription service. Although I’d be happy to pay for additional features (see cons below).

It does what it says- slows songs down, and changes pitch, and does it very well.

The cons/ requests:

Obviously having to both buy the MP3’s and subscribe to Apple Music is expensive but I don’t blame the developer for that, it’s part of my cost of doing business.

As of right now in ASD you have to + or - your loop ends by a preset amount and use your ear to get it right. it’s pretty time consuming and old school. It would be nice to have the loop feature be able to drop on beat (the quarter note or eighth note, etc). This would require a background beat grid analysis of the file. I strongly encourage the developer to check out DJ apps and use their ideas of how to quickly make and store seamless loops. This is not new technology.

It would be more than nice to have a row of buttons across the control panel to call up loops without having to go down into the dialogue box which is kinda awkward and time consuming. You could set your loop points, hold down one of the buttons and it automatically saves, and in the future recalls that loop with a touch. Again check out other DJ programs.

Another needed feature, which has been well documented in these reviews, is (+) and (-) buttons on the speed and pitch sliders to incrementally adjust. My fat fingers are always sliding above and bellow my needed speed until I get it just right. Please add these.

Simple ergonomics request- Having a bit larger buttons on the speed and volume sliders would be nice. Often my fingers over-shoot when working on the fly.

Fantasy wish- If you check out the DJ software Serato, they have implemented a “stems” feature where you can isolate drums, vocals, etc. This would be a major league feature for AMS. Imagine being able to quickly isolate the drum tracks, create a quick loop on beat, then save it w/ a single tap. This is probably way more than AMS could afford to implement but it would blow minds. We can dream…

Many students ask me what app they should use and while I ALWAYS mention ASD I don’t rave about it and often I recommend using YouTube’s slow down feature (on laptop not phone or tablet) for simple slowing down. But if ASD implemented some of the features I addressed above that would tip me into the raving review category. Thanks for reading and thanks ASD for the app I use every day!

### 4/5 — Question:

*2024-03-19*

This is the Light version. Is there a full fledged version?

### 3/5 — Pass

*2023-12-10*

Anytune costs the same and is a far superior tool.

### 3/5 — Música de Spotify

*2023-07-27, version 6.8.2*

Acabo de abrir y me encuentro que Ya no tiene opción de jalar música desde Spotify!!!! Lo volverán a poner disponible ???????

### 2/5 — Length issues

*2023-05-08*

The app itself claims that you can have up to 2 minutes of audio but every time I try and import audio it only plays the first 6 seconds of the audio I’ve tried the photo library and audio files but it refuses to play any more than 6 seconds. I would like to know why that is

**Developer response:** The free lite version plays the first 1/4 of a song for a maximum of 3 minutes.

### 1/5 — Completely useless

*2023-03-27*

As an early adopter of the slow downer, I object to paying $23 for the phone version.

I expected that there would be restrictions on the lite version but not this ridiculous totally unusable “first quarter” nonsense. Why even bother. This makes me reluctant to pay anything at all for the app. I think I’ll find a competitor.

### 3/5 — No more Spotify Transfer

*2022-09-06*

I used to love this app but now we can not longer Spotify transfer through it. What a bummer…… please fix the issues

**Developer response:** Spotify no longer allows changes of tempo or pitch or even playback. Please complain to Spotify.

### 1/5 — Sold out to Apple Music

*2022-09-05*

You won’t be able to use your iTunes files with this software unless you hand out $9.99 to Apple Music every month ~ ASD sold out to Apple- Good luck struggling musicians!

**Developer response:** You can use ordinary audio files as long as they are not DRM protected, this is how Apple has decided it should work. As a third party we have exactly zero influence over this.

### 2/5 — Too bad

*2022-09-01, version 6.7.4*

Unfortunately without the Spotify component this app is completely useless to me now. Also unfortunately I bought the full version. Yay for that. I also purchased the PC version so I guess I can use it there but no longer have the convenience of using ASD wherever I am.

### 3/5 — No Spotify

*2022-09-01, version 6.7.4*

Was a great app and no longer can access Spotify content. Loved this app before Spotify killed support. Too bad. This was a great app. Going to look elsewhere.

### 4/5 — Great app, frustrating UI

*2022-08-17*

Love the app and use it every day.

But the slider controls for setting the loop start and end points, speed, and pitch are a really, really bad choice.

It’s really difficult to set the values with a slider. A text input would be so much better.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Terrible

*2024-12-08, version 6.9.1*

Does not work with Spotify. Spent half an hour trying to pull any song I have for Apple Music to slow down. Nothing worked. Terrible app

### 1/5 — Already paid

*2024-11-12, version 6.9.1*

Hello guys, I’ve already paid for the full version very long time ago but the icon remained as “ASD lite”. The app was functioning properly as a full version either in the iPhone and in the iPad. Then the iPhone cancelled it because I haven't used it for a long time, now I downloaded it back and it’s working as the lite version. Could you please help me? Thanks

### 1/5 — No Longer Works w/Spotify

*2024-09-23, version 6.8.9*

It used to be great, but it no longer updates or has compatibility with Spotify.

### 1/5 — Why buy?

*2024-08-08, version 6.8.9*

So apparently you cant use this with spotify and I read a couple of comments saying it wont work properly with iTunes either. So whats the point of this app again? The description helps nothing

### 1/5 — Junk

*2024-06-05, version 6.8.9*

Overrated and overpriced pro version of app!!! You are seriously greedy.

### 1/5 — File management poor

*2024-01-14*

Something as simple as moving a recording into a created folder is impossible,

**Developer response:** It's possible:

Tap "Edit" button
Tap "Move"
Select file(s)
Navigate into your desired folder
Tap "Move here"
Done

### 1/5 — Useless in 2023

*2023-08-23, version 6.8.2*

Does NOT work with Spotify OR Apple Music. Useless in 2023. my understanding is the full version is also not compatible with either one. this was a great app in the past when it actually worked with what we all use. I can’t imagine very many people still use this app anymore though since they decided to become irrelevant.

### 1/5 — Not good

*2023-08-20*

Only plays the first 18 seconds of a song in a loop, pointless really

**Developer response:** It plays the first 1/4 of a song for a maximum of 3 minutes.

### 1/5 — Useless now!!

*2023-07-07, version 6.8.2*

I used to love this app!! I loved it so much I paid $16 for the full version….but I haven’t used the app in a couple years because I got out of playing music for a while. I come back to the app and you can no longer play music from Spotify!! I feel like I should get my $16 back!!

**Developer response:** Spotify is not supported anymore, correct. But you other comments are completely wrong.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Finger Picking

*2025-01-19, version 6.9.2*

Such a great tool for listening accurately.

### 5/5 — Horrible app

*2024-08-19*

This is just in general terrible, I’m trying to memorize an audio and it doesn’t let me listen to the full thing. I put in a 12 second video and it only let me do 2 seconds worth, I gave this five stars so it would be seen, don’t waste your storage on this. And the version that costs money is just in general, way too expensive. I have had so many problems with this app, I tried to import a full minute audio and it only let me listen to the first 12 seconds. I have no idea how to fix this and the only way is most likely to buy the overly expensive app, I do not recommend, thanks for reading.

**Developer response:** As written on the App Store:
"This free lite version is restricted to play the first quarter of an audio file".
The paid version of course doesn't have this limitation.

### 5/5 — Con apple music se puede cambiar el tono?

*2023-09-20, version 6.8.3*

Con Apple Music se puede cambiar el tono y la velocidad?
Como músico usaba mucho spotify para hacwr esto y poder cantar con las pistas

### 5/5 — Yes it’s a demo

*2023-04-15*

Just let’s you confirm it will work. Go buy it perhaps?!

### 5/5 — A New IPad

*2023-02-09*

I recently updated my IPad and Rolf, the customer service person, helped me set it up. He was very helpful. He explained how to renew the app on the new equipment and how to move my library.

I’ve used this app for years and am totally satisfied with both the app but impressed with the attention given through customer service.

### 5/5 — So far, so great!

*2022-03-10*

Just got this to help me transcribe a tune and it is just what I needed! I had a paid version on an older computer. I am taking delivery on a new computer soon - any discount available if I want to install it on there, since I have already bought it once? I know it was a long time ago, just checking. Thanks

### 5/5 — Extremely Useful

*2022-01-01*

I have used this App for many years. I absolutely love it. I use it to change keys of songs, as well as changing tempo and/or speeds.
Also use it to loop in order to better learn specific parts of songs.

### 5/5 — Application indispensable pour tout musicien

*2021-12-31*

### 5/5 — Recommend

*2021-01-03*

This is genuinely useful, I like the way that after spending time to make a loop of whatever I’m trying to figure out, I can easily save it for later.
The app runs smoothly and is pretty easy to understand, but comes with a great help section. Any musician can make good use of this great app.
