### 2/5 — Remote

*2026-08-23, version 4.7.0*

Doesn’t work

### 3/5 — Gets buggy

*2026-08-23, version 4.7.0*

Sometimes it gets very buggy and glitchy

### 2/5 — Will. Not. Connect.

*2026-08-23, version 4.7.0*

I’m not sure what the point of a remote is if you have to physically interact with your TV every time you use it. This app will not - will NOT - connect to my Fire TV unless / until I go over and hold down the power button on the TV for 15 seconds to restart it. Both phone & TV are always on the same 5GHz network, no VPN, no proxy, dedicated local IP address for both, and I power cycle the TV on / off for at least 60 seconds every day (which is what I had to do several app updates ago if I ever hoped to reconnect it to the TV). Now not even that works, and I have to physically reboot the TV in order for it to be seen in the app.
To be clear, the app SEES the TV, it just will not connect. During the TV reboot, the TV that it sees and won’t connect to disappears, then shows up again once the TV reboots, as unable to connect, then (and only then) rebooting the remote app finally connects it to the TV.

This is all before getting to the (dys)functionality of the app itself. Why on earth do you have to scroll left and right to access the most commonly-used buttons, while 60% of the screen real estate is occupied by a giant 5-button navigating array + empty space? And now the latest “feature” since the latest few updates: scrolling left to right in order to access the commonest buttons, automatically instantiates the Home button. Yay! The only way to avoid this is to carefully touch a few choice pixels in the bottom corner of the side you’re trying to scroll toward, just enough that you can barely manage to side scroll.

This app is one bizarre custom-built afterthought after another. Much like every other piece of Alexa / Amazon software. 🤦‍♂️ This is on modern hardware, while doing every bit of updating, network administration, rain dancing voodoo magic (which an end user shouldn’t actually have to do if you made AND TESTED reliable, functional software in the first place), so yes, Amazon: it’s not me, it’s you. You’ve earned every negative thing that can be said about you through sheer neglect, ignorance and incompetence. 🎯

### 4/5 — Good quality viewing although a little glitchy

*2026-08-22, version 4.7.0*

Once working, the fire to is high quality viewing with excellent picks for watching and gaming. However, at times, it can be difficult to connect the controllers to the tv. The tv also does work if you have no WiFi.

### 3/5 — No power button control

*2026-08-22, version 4.7.0*

App is great except I can’t shut the TV off

### 3/5 — Remote control

*2026-08-22, version 4.7.0*

I really like Amazon Fire TV; however, the remote controls have an extremely short lifespan requiring one to replace frequently. The remote APP was a great idea. I use my cellphone as a remote control; however, it’s a challenge when trying to play a video game (Poker), when the an incoming calls come in.

### 5/5 — Great

*2026-08-22, version 4.7.0*

5*

### 5/5 — Reliable

*2026-08-22, version 4.7.0*

### 5/5 — The best

*2026-08-22, version 4.7.0*

This Amazon fire tv is the best , I love it so much

### 4/5 — Latest version UI is terrible

*2026-08-22, version 4.7.0*

The first thing I want to see on the Home Screen are the apps I have downloaded . Now Amazon has decided I don’t need them, they’ve disappeared. I don’t want to see all the content they’re promoting, I want my apps! If you scroll far enough you can find “frequently used”, but that’s just the last few you accessed. Blatant money grab.

### 4/5 — Life saver but

*2026-08-22, version 4.7.0*

I can’t power on my tv otherwise works great

### 4/5 — Fire stick

*2026-08-22, version 4.7.0*

Sometimes it freeze up it won’t let you use it. They need to fix that but overall it’s a good app, but they need to fix a few things but it’s not freezing and not connecting to your TV or your fire stick.

### 5/5 — Utility

*2026-08-22, version 4.7.0*

This app is very useful and I use it frequently to use my fire tv.

### 5/5 — Nice

*2026-08-21, version 4.7.0*

### 5/5 — Amazing

*2026-08-21, version 4.7.0*

Why on earth do I want more things I know I’m going to lose when I have a device that I have to replace within a day if lost. It’s genius.
