## What is Amazon Halo?

Beginning on August 1, 2023, Amazon Halo devices and the Amazon Halo app will no longer function. Learn more (https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=Trwn5lh3I2HR2c1L1z). This app requires a Halo device.

Key features:
DISCOVER
• Explore an ever-growing library of premium and on-demand workouts, daily meditations, as well as nutrition and sleep support.

• Simple, measurable programs help you see the impact that small changes can make on how feel–like whether meditating improves your focus, or if a pet-free bedroom improves your sleep quality.

ACTIVITY

SLEEP
• Analyze your sleep patterns, like how long it takes you to fall asleep, how much you wake up at night, and how long you spend in each sleep stage.

NUTRITION
• Get a tailored weekly menu that can be synced with your Halo app grocery list, your Alexa shopping list, or the Whole Foods app to make meal prep even easier.
• Add recipe ingredients or standalone items to your grocery list anytime.
• Browse and get inspiration with hundreds of nutritious recipes.

MOVEMENT
• Halo uses your smartphone’s camera to accurately measure your mobility, stability, and posture, and then provides a custom set of corrective exercises to help you improve over time.

BODY COMPOSITION
 • Halo's Body feature is nearly twice as accurate as leading at-home smart scales.
 • Body uses your smartphone’s camera to determine your body fat percentage, which is a better indicator of health than weight or BMI alone.
 • A personalized 3D model helps you track changes.

CONTROL AT YOUR FINGERTIPS
 • Get phone call and text notifications, start live workouts, and get move reminders right from your wrist with Halo View fitness tracker (sold separately).

TONE OF VOICE ANALYSIS
 • Halo analyzes the positivity and energy of your voice to help you learn how you may sound to others.

### 3/5 — Many things I love but needs some extras

*2023-02-14, version 1.4.1.0*

I love reading my heart rate, blood oxygen level checks, learning so much about my sleep and even the good feeling when I read my steps, calorie burns, and activity points achieved.
Some things that could use some tweaking include a smaller face plate for the smaller wrist band(a little bulky on a small wrist); better tracking of mild activity(like when I’m cooking or cleaning but getting reminders that it’s time to move?); more suggestions for better sleep that don’t include meditation or maybe suggestions for getting back to sleep if you wake up in the middle of the night; if the workout videos could include sound prompts at end of times and circuits plus more prompts of what exercise coming up next; and more positive reinforcement prompts during the day like when I take the stairs or walk for 5 minutes but didn’t start my walking exercise timer.
But so far it has been helpful and encouraging to reach for goals.

### 2/5 — Halo review

*2023-01-29, version 1.4.1.0*

Sleep tracking needs a lot of improvement. It doesn't actually register sleep unless it's during normal sleep hours. Naps need to count, not everyone can physically sleep enough in one chunk of sleep. One of them continually shuts off as soon as it's taken off, and takes thirty minutes of playing with the charger to get it to actually try to find a signal again. the watch. It's great and easy to use. The app is pretty good also, although I would like more sleep help options, also it says that all three of us are sleeping very badly. My boyfriend's band says he is awake, when he is snoring. I know it's not right. Maybe we could have an option to actually say I'm going to bed and I'm up, naps aren't considered as sleep either. I'm sure it's considered sedentary time, but that's how some people get their sleep, I'm disabled and pain sometimes keeps me up, maybe we are dreaming during the night and the app thinks we are awake? Also one of our watches just today decided that it doesn't want to be con ected to the phone except when it's plugged in. I have reset the phone and app but it's still not working, so there is also that.

### 2/5 — Halo view usage

*2023-01-21, version 1.3.26.0*

The apps are great. I enjoy the sleep, health tracking, ability to see recipes, plan meals. I use the sleep programs almost nightly. However, they are flawed. You are supposed to be able to fall asleep before the actual video/yoga nidra, etc ends. If this happens-falling asleep. it we start up again apipproximately 4 hours after the initial sleep program. It’s very frustrating to be woken up when the goal was for the app to help you go to sleep.
I have done updates to the app even completely deleted my Halo View app to stArt over again , losing all my data. Unfortunenatly, ITS STILL HAPPENING AND VERY FRUSTRATING. IVE CONTACT TECH SUPPORT AND did tS
W HAT THEY ASKED. ITS NIT WORKING. IM PRETTY DIAAPPOINTED.
I also wish when you logged in exercises, you can Change the details such as the start and end time easier, the distance for certain. The band never matches what my treadmill or bike or exercise video claims has been achieved. At least those things could by changed on Fitbit easily.
I’m really hoping for so updates to stop the random night interruptions of my sleep.

### 1/5 — No Heart Rate Tracking / Way to Disable Calorie Counting

*2022-12-15, version 1.3.23.0*

I wanted this to function as a way to see how my heart rate fluctuates on a graph as I have tachycardia and want to show evidence of it and try to lower my average heart rate (which people do by working out!)
I’m not sure if the app knows my baseline is a bit higher or not.
Also- you can’t disable the calorie burner tab. I am a survivor of an eating disorder and seeing calorie counts is very distressing.
I just wanted this to function as a sleep tracker, watch, and heart monitor but I feel as though it’s way more geared towards fitness tracking. It would be nice if we could just get rid of the widgets and such we don’t need. Atleast the calorie count isn’t available on the clock itself, but it’s still really sad a health app wouldn’t give users the chance to disable the feature from showing up.

I got this as part of the planet fitness deal, which I didn’t know locked me into a 2 year membership that cost $68 or something to cancel. In the end I paid way more in the long run, but atleast the watch isn’t too bulky? Usually I find watches to be very annoying. Im just upset the feature I thought it had aren’t there. It seems like it DOES track heart rate but not on an easily accessible graph- it’s just using it for the activity points.

### 4/5 — It's good but fitbit is better

*2022-11-28, version 1.3.22.0*

I like the halo. Nice that it doesn't have a screen, syncs to your phone when you need to look at data, and is comfortable. But, my old fitbit was just better. Especially for tracking sleep. The halo only takes between 10pm and 6am because that's what I told it to do. If I wake up in the middle of the night, it doesn't always track the awake time and if I take a nap in the middle of the day. It doesn't track. Example..I didn't sleep well the other night and I woke up at 1:30am. The 20 min I was awake wasn't tracked. I woke up at 5am and played on my phone for an hour, halo tracked that as me sleeping. I finally went back to sleep at 6am and slept for 2.5 hours, but since that was outside my sleep time, it doesn't show on my tracker. Battery, heart rate, and activity is also better or same on fitbit and fitbit is better in the water since they don't have a fabric band. More expensive, but Fitbit is still the standard.

### 3/5 — Halo View

*2022-10-31, version 1.3.20.0*

I am enjoying my Halo View, but I have had a Fit Bit Charge 2 for 5 years. To compare, the Halo has a much smaller face, and at age 65, it’s much harder for me to see. Sometimes the swipe feature doesn’t work, it’s too hard to change from screen to screen. It doesn’t have the feature to remind you to move 250 steps every hour, unless I just can’t find it. The Home screen does not show steps taken for the day, you have to swipe, and as I mentioned, that doesn’t always work. Also , it does not sync with my Renew Active app with Medicare, which rewards members with cash for taking steps. Currently I am wearing both of the trackers. I do like the feature where you can adjust the brightness of the screen, and turn off the feature where it goes on when you move your wrist at night and turn off notifications. I have not used the BMI feature, or the voice analysis feature. As a whole, I would not recommend. I bought it because I got it free from Weight Watchers.

### 5/5 — Obsessed

*2022-10-06, version 1.3.19.0*

Ok, I didn’t want to get into this for a long time… I didn’t want to be “one of them” constantly stressed by being over connected…. but I finally got one and I’m obsessed. I absolutely love it. It is very helpful in jump starting and sustaining a healthy lifestyle. It tracks sleep, activity, calories burned and your heart. It has great tips on meals programs and workouts. It’s motivation on your wrist… get one and you won’t regret it. I’ll keep exploring, as I just got it a couple of days ago. It is a great tool to zone in and focus on one’s health without getting sidetracked for long… it’s on your wrist and it’ll probably stay there permanently once you get one.

### 1/5 — Used to be great… now rarely works

*2022-09-28, version 1.3.18.0*

The app is one of the things I was recommending about the halo. Now I’m having to go retract my recommendation to my friends. I’d feel bad if they bought this on my rec. Seems like something broke in the past couple of months and now the app never loads and on the rare occasion it does, it definitely won’t sync with the watch. I tried all the trouble shooting multiple times to no avail. The app has become utterly unusable and the watch not much better, since you can’t access the data.

While the cat knocking things over graphic is cute, it gets old when that’s literally the only thing this app can do. No chance I’m going to pay the monthly fee for an app I can’t even use most/all of the time.

I guess I’m glad, if it was going to go downhill, that it did before I’d spent much on it. I really like the watch and app when they do work, it’s just that it doesn’t any more. Will be looking for an alternative. I give up.

### 4/5 — Everything is great except nutrition!

*2022-07-17, version 1.3.12.0*

Totally worth the price the app is easy and so informative about so many elements. I especially like the body and movement sections. Sleep is analyzes in a very detailed manner too. And the activity tracker is inspiring. I love that the band wraps all the way around so there is nothing to break. However… the nutrition section leaves a ton to be desired, at least if you’re doing keto. I selected ketogenic friendly and just one meal a day hoping to encounter new recipes. It’s like they don’t even know what keto is! The first recipe has 40 carbs!! My DAILY max is 25. If I tried to “balance out” my macro stating with 40 carbs, the fat calories I would have to eat would blow me out of the water. I’d start gaining for sheer excess calories. Maybe it was a fluke? Nope, checked every single recipe for the week and had to smdelete every one. Decided to use Senza for nutrition, which is great for Keto tracking. Despite this one area of low quality who h may only apply to keto, the rest of the halo app is wonderful and I highly recommend it. Thus 4 stars!

### 3/5 — What happened?

*2022-07-14, version 1.3.12.0*

Up until around May of this year, I would have rated the Halo band and the Halo app with five stars. It does/did everything I wanted. It tracked my steps, it tracked my heart rate, it logged activities, the body scanning is amazing, and I don’t look like an idiot wearing two watches (I like to wear a traditional watch, so the band only option was highly attractive). However, somewhere around 2 to 3 months ago the step tracking became highly in accurate. For example, the average round of golf requires the participant to walk at least 5 miles. Five miles translates to roughly 10,000 steps. The days that I golf show roughly half the amount of steps I should be displaying…super bummer. I’ve tried resetting the band. I’ve tried doing a factory reset of the band. I don’t know if something changed in the algorithm to track steps, or if there is something wrong with the accelerometer within the band, but I am currently very unhappy with this recent change.
