### 4/5 — Cutting out

*2026-08-23, version 7.65*

I have this app for years but every time you up date the app there is more glitches and it’s frustrating and it cuts out while I’m reading

### 2/5 — Latest iPad update

*2026-08-23, version 7.65*

Why is it a perfectly functioning app is updated & made awful. Whoever thought the so called improvements were a good idea was wrong. I love reading books on the Kindle app on my iPad but I don’t like the app in its current state. Sorry but I’d like it back like it was before.

### 2/5 — Not recording my streak

*2026-08-23, version 7.65*

I was on a pretty lengthy streak and it did not record the last two days.

### 3/5 — Not User Friendly

*2026-08-23, version 7.65*

Kindle does not improve even after many years .I like that i can read boos but ability to of size and archive books is very poor or not intuitive

### 2/5 — New update

*2026-08-23, version 7.65*

I love the Kindle App and have used it for years but since this newest update the app will just randomly close while I am in the middle of reading. I’ve never had this problem before and it’s been happening multiple times every time I try to read - this is very frustrating. Is there a way to fix this? I am a big reader and read for extended periods of time every day and this is making me not want to use this app. Please fix this. Thank you!

### 3/5 — Less good than it used to be

*2026-08-23, version 7.65*

IMO the app was better before the update. I liked having my library as my homepage. I preferred the stat section how it was way back with the book counter and the ability to scroll back.

### 5/5 — Kindle

*2026-08-23, version 7.65*

I’m obsessed with my kindle. Best reading device I have brought.

### 5/5 — Love It!

*2026-08-23, version 7.65*

I always open up at the place I finished at! And I can highlight places I feel are important and I want to review again. I honestly prefer the Kindle Reading App to a book! ❤️

### 5/5 — I love it

*2026-08-23, version 7.65*

I have spent the longest trying to find a place that has everything I need. The books, the audio books, everything I’ve been looking for. I couldn’t be happier with my choice.
#teamkindle🤣

### 5/5 — Great Savings

*2026-08-22, version 7.65*

If I were to purchase every book I read, I would run out of space in my house. Kindle books are a great way to satisfy my voracious reading appetite, but not have to store a ton of books in my house.

### 5/5 — Kindle

*2026-08-22, version 7.65*

A great reasonably priced service if like me you enjoy reading

### 5/5 — Read more books!

*2026-08-22, version 7.65*

Favorite app & most used. Love the convenience of having a book with me whenever I have my phone. Sometimes my audible audio & the book don’t connect which can be annoying but still my fave & most used app 👩🏽‍💻🧝🏽‍♀️🧞‍♀️🧟‍♀️🧛🏽‍♀️🧚🏽‍♀️

### 3/5 — Good, but ongoing annoyances exist.

*2026-08-22, version 7.65*

Works well with regard to books and reading options but I thought I had finally got rid of the annoying Kindle Challenge section until I updated the software and it came back. Why isn’t this set as an option in settings rather than being pushed onto customers who don’t want it?

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Garbage interface, totally ruined the app

*2026-08-23, version 7.65*

I was a very early ebook adopter, and at that time, the only option was Amazon. So in the 20ish years since then, I’ve spent literally tens of thousands of dollars on ebooks. That makes it very hard to walk away in a post DRM world.

The app updates have, over the last year or so, been much more focused on *selling* books rather than offering a platform to read books you already bought (kids, I promise, there was a time when you could not even buy books on the Apple kindle app).

The ads and algo on the front page means that I can’t even open the front page and see my purchases. Worse, I’m a librarian, so books I’ve looked up for work show on my personal feed because Amazon keeps mixing up my work account and personal account because I access them on the same device (just looked up! Not purchased! But the algo doesn’t care). And when I *do* get to my library, I have to first click “downloaded” so I can see which books I haven’t finished yet, then sort by recent. Every time. No option for default settings. And then if I want to switch between books and have an accurate take on recency, I have to close and refresh the app

So after a while of this, I turned off the device setting that would allow automatic app updates. Kindle is still updating, completely bypassing my device settings

If I could magically switch all my books to another platform, I would. I can’t. So I’m moving away from ebooks and going back to ink and paper. Just a terrible experience and a terrible way to treat long time customers

### 1/5 — Audio book go missing .

*2026-08-23, version 7.65*

I have the books bot the audio is no longer available . Even though I paid for them

### 1/5 — Why ruin a good thing

*2026-08-23, version 7.65*

Annoying to have to look at this stinking rating page every time I open a book. Stop.

### 1/5 — Stupid

*2026-08-23, version 7.65*

I’m tired of this app always asking for a review. So here is one……. 1 Star

### 1/5 — Terrible, terrible update

*2026-08-23, version 7.65*

This recent update is awful! I have been using this app for years, but I may have to find another option. So, so disappointed. Return the previous functionality, or I am gone.

### 1/5 — Fixing Things Until They Are Broken

*2026-08-22, version 7.65*

Truly the worst update I’ve ever seen. It’s impossible to easily find my books now. It’s like multiple advertisements for Amazon. It was already bad when the update happened where we couldn’t immediately open onto the page featuring the actual books I wanted to read on an ereader (shocking concept, I know), but now the option to switch to that page is not even there! Instead, it’s buried in a dropdown menu. It’s not a hard concept, Amazon: I open a book to read a book. Not to see a home screen of things you think I want to read (which are not even accurate suggestions).

### 1/5 — amazon downloads not working right

*2026-08-22, version 7.65*

not sure what changed but when i download a new book to my
kindle it doesn’t show up yet libby shows it is borrowed

### 1/5 — Suddenly REPEATEDLY OFTEN started bugging me REPEATEDLY to rate it. REPEATEDLY 🤬🤬🤬

*2026-08-22, version 7.65*

UPDATE: it keeps asking me to review even though I already did. Kindle is doing exactly what it's designed to do. It is super annoying to have to stop in the middle of a sentence when it starts asking for reviews. TWO DAYS AFTER I WROTE THIS REVIEW IT ASKED ME AGAIN🤬 🤬
AND AGAIN.

### 1/5 — Updated layout

*2026-08-22, version 7.65*

Kindle took an easy-to-use app and made it as difficult as possible. In order to find the books I downloaded to my iPad, I must filter out all books to include only those unread. Then I have to filter out my husband’s books from that list to only those downloaded to my iPad. Before this update, it was easy to choose “Library” and then go to the tabs at the top for either “All” or “Downloaded”.

### 1/5 — Stop asking me to rate your app

*2026-08-22, version 7.65*

I actually really like this app. I hate that every other time I open it, it asks for a rating.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — A “STURDY” Book

*2026-08-23, version 7.65*

There are, in my opinion, no superfluous words in this book. I read it slowly in order to not miss something. Everything written here is important to training routines, to diet, and to behaviour outside of your gym workouts.
I am a fortunate man. I, in total ignorance, joined One Family Fitness 2 years ago. I had never been in a gym before in my life and here I was at 78 years joining a gym. With pure luck I took out a membership in the best gym I could have selected.
Jen became my coach almost right away. She asked Dino to assign her to me; another fortunate thing.
I didn’t realize until recently that I was being trained in Powerlifting using the 5 pillars described in this book.
Now the things she tells me and encourages me to do make so much more sense.
The Build System works very well for me. I am never pushed beyond what I can achieve. My shortcomings are nutrition and movement. The book tells you how to deal with these two pillars.
If you are a powerlifter or weightlifter this book was written for you.

### 5/5 — Excellant way to read

*2026-08-23, version 7.65*

I find the app great especially for keeping track of what i have ready

### 5/5 — Fácil y rapido.

*2026-08-23, version 7.65*

Una aplicación que te permite tener tu biblioteca en cualquier lugar y es muy fácil de usar.

### 5/5 — The easiness to read

*2026-08-23, version 7.65*

I have a Kindle and I have the app on my phone. I can grab any at any moment and read. And sometimes that a the great escape from the waiting room or a long line.
Thnx.

### 5/5 — Great program

*2026-08-23, version 7.65*

This is the best thing I do for myself! I love getting up to 20 books, because sometimes I want to change it up and read something different and I can do that. Read a new one that just came out, then finish what I was reading.
I love the emails from authors I read telling me what is available and I love the fun challenges

### 5/5 — Good app

*2026-08-23, version 7.65*

Update: 8/23/26. Help! In the middle of reading a book on my iPad, I left the app to deal with something else and when I came back to the kindle app it lost the ability to read in a two-column mode when in landscape. I have cleared all my apps, then updated my Kindle app, and I have done a hard shut down and restart on my iPad. The option is just gone! When reading in landscape mode I don’t like having to move my head to read the full line like I’m at a tennis match.

Update: 2/5/26 Still love the convenience of the app but during the last two updates the bright bar at the bottom of the page (when using the black background and whitish text) does not fade away as it used to. It is much brighter than the text itself and annoying when reading in bed in the dark,

Update: I still loving using the Kindle app. I think all of my books are syncing now across my devices.

I really like the fact that i can get my Kindle content on all my devices. I would like it better if ALL the books would Sync across the devices. Many, if not most, books will not Sync.

### 5/5 — Itherian

*2026-08-23, version 7.65*

Great world building and character development. Well paced story

### 5/5 — Going Deep

*2026-08-23, version 7.65*

I use Kindle for many things but my favorite is for reading and studying high content books from whose content I will read on and off for years. I can easily footnote, highlight, copy, and search to find references I mad years ago. The other thing I like is its accessibility. It is always with me providing I have my iPhone or iPad, which I do 99% of the day . “Kindle, it’s always with you”

### 5/5 — Kindle app

*2026-08-23, version 7.65*

I absolutely love the app! I used to read loads pf physical books, I then moved onto books and kindle. I then went back to school and with work and studies requiring me to read a lot and often on screens my eyes couldn’t just take it anymore so the app allowed me to move into audiobooks and continue to enjoy fab books!
Now my studies are coming to an end I am slowly adding back my kindle into my reading routine.
I love how kindle and the app helped me throughout my reading journey ❤️

### 5/5 — Lo adoro

*2026-08-23, version 7.65*
