Being new to bitcoin I downloaded 10-15 apps to try. This out was an easy choice. Simple clean app you can pick up and figure out yourself unlike some others. Easy to get funds from BTC to AUD and into your bank through direct transfer. That was an issue with other apps who will take cash but almost impossible to go the other way, or they would charge (some up to $30 per transaction) for it. Amber app is free to put money back into your bank account. On top of that the customer support is outstanding. They are patient, spending many emails with them before I put a cent into it explaining everything to a beginner in simple terms. They are polite, knowledgeable, and a very good response time. By far the best support of any of the bitcoin apps I downloaded. So if you are new to bitcoin and want a simple app, that you can go into and out of your bank quickly and cleanly, without outrageous fees, with the best customer support, this is the app to use. After trialling many others, this is the only wallet I kept. It’s great to support a Bitcoin only company in Australia. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Cannot withdraw my btc *2025-05-07, version 5.6.10* It’s been 3 weeks and I am still unable to withdraw btc from ‘The vault’. After typing in my passphrase the keyboard stays on screen over the comfirm tab. Can’t click out. Very frustrating. Support is a bot. Funds in your wallet are automatically sent to ‘the vault’ You have to opt out in writing everytime if you don’t want this to happen. Amberapp then charge a monthly storage fees for the privilege. I’ve reinstalled this app everyday for the last 3 weeks to try and get my btc out. Still can’t. ### 1/5 — DO NOT PUT YOUR MONEY INTO THIS APP! *2024-01-08, version 5.3.4* My money has been held for over a month with no update at all I was told everything would be resolved after two weeks it has now been near enough coming up to 50 days and nothing at all has been done about this. If you would like to be without your money for months I wouldn’t recommend going anywhere near this app at all. Screams liquidity problems holding money with no explanation for months ### 1/5 — They are robbers *2023-12-04, version 5.3.4* I’ve been using amber and it’s fine first few times then I tried to purchase a larger amount on Friday in anticipation of the resent bullish news I’d been hearing on btc and Eth thinking it’s the best time to capitalise on a ever flourishing market I’ve tried to send out to my external wallet and they have locked my account the next day and ignored all my messages I have already withdrawn my btc so at this point I’m waiting to receive my funds but don’t know why it’s been 4 days and still nothing, horrible I’ve used there app within the terms and conditions and still they’ve treated me like this ### 1/5 — Bank not approved *2022-07-24, version 3.10.2* I added new bank to my Amber account and it is yet to be approved since then. He definitely puts out great content and his views are closely aligned with mine. That is why it is hard for me to believe that KYC is needed. To my knowledge I don’t think KYC is required by law. Bitcoin only. No other crypto noise and distractions. All staff are super helpful whether you’re buying BTC personally or starting your SMSF. I can’t recommend them enough. On the fence? Plus I use it all the time to make one off purchases also. They’re constantly updating features and design to make the AmberApp feel great. No other app is this simple. Recently a Bitcoin Vault was added - this is great for friends and family who aren’t ready yet for self custody. And their concierge team will assist anyone to level up. Just superb. I’ve been able to setup some simple automatic transfers from my bank account to the Amber wallet along with some recurring BTC buys to get more bitcoin for the long term using dollar cost averaging (DCA). This app requires KYC.
