I get that there will be some, but it’s an insane amount. My wife had never watched it, and, having seen it many times, I was excited to watch Robert de Niro’s directorial debut together. Sadly, AMC plus (nothing plus about this app) decided to advertise the movie as the “30th Anniversary edition” but what the paying subscriber gets instead is the for TV edited version, which is a whopping 15 minutes shorter and has fade outs throughout where commercials would air. The sound is also very poor. I tried to cancel my free trial on the app and it told me to manage my subscription through the App Store. I didn’t sign up through the App Store! I went to the website to cancel that way since that is the way I signed up for my free trial and it kept saying error! For about a week the website kept saying error until I opened the website under the private tab instead of the regular tab on my phone and the website actually worked and was able to cancel my free trial. But my biggest complaint is that you don’t have a way to easily remove a show from the continue watching. This is the 21st-century not the 1990s. This should be a very easy thing for your site designers to come up with instead of having to have us go to the very last episode and then fast forward it all the way through the credits. The app is so glitchy that it constantly crashes and you have to start the episode over (no first forward) Want more frustration? It is intensely hard to navigate. I just gave up trying to convince it I prefer to watch a show’s Episode 1 instead of starting at Episode 3. I guess it had a point: why give myself a 10-point rise in my blood pressure? It's clunky; the streaming quality is the absolute worst. In an age where 4K streaming is easily available, it just boggles my mind that AMC chose to stream in pixely 1080i. I can't watch this on a regular TV. It looks like I'm watching cable TV from 2005. $11 a month for that? No thanks. I think that “the Interview With the Vampire” and “the Vampire Lestat” shows how to do an adaptation well and truthfully and failure of “the Talamasca” shows just how bad things can get if you veer too far from the source material. PLEASE don’t ruin it is all I’m saying in the end. Release more seasons!! ### 5/5 — Anne Rice’s Immortal Universe Shows *2026-07-19, version 1.78.0(4613)* AMC found the perfect cast and writers and producers to lift Anne’s world off the pages of her books and bring them to television. SAM REID could not possibly be a better embodiment of Lestat De Lioncourt. He is consistently a delight and a terror and a surprise. JACOB ANDERSON as Louis De Pointe Du Lac is the Louis we failed to get when Brad Pitt played opposite Tim Cruise in 1994. The two are brilliant as the immortal vampire lovers. AMC had the guts to keep Anne’s characters queer and it’s wonderful. She would have enjoyed these shows very much. I wish Talamasca had made it and lasted. I thought it was wonderful. Mayfair Witches didn’t hook me in any way, but that’s alright too. I could shout out other AMC shows too, Dark Winds. Beautifully adapted and lovingly acted. Perfect cast, every detail respectfully accurate to the Navajo People and The Four Corners region.
