### 3/5 — App is best for iPad but developer not keeping bug free when Apple pushes updates

*2025-03-15, version 3.31.0202*

Playback is impossible because it crashes when trying to specify an end date and time.

### 4/5 — App crashes when playback parameters are changed

*2025-01-12, version 3.31.0202*

I’ve been using this app for 7 years. I actually prefer it to the iPhone app. But ever since I updated my iPad IOS to 18.2, the App crashes whenever I try to change both Playback time settings. Please tell me this can be fixed. I’d hate to see this app relegated to the scrap heap.

### 3/5 — Better experience but less compatibility

*2023-09-06, version 3.31.0202*

I’ve ben a long time user of Amcrest cameras (over 8 years). This app is designed for the iPad, but Amcrest is not keeping it working with all the cameras. I just upgraded a few of my cameras and they don’t work with P2P in this app. They do work in the other, non-iPad app. That app is really a crummy experience on an iPad. So Amcrest support told me to “just keep using the non-iPad app.”
One other point is that there is no way to reset to a single camera view in playback.

### 2/5 — Adequate, but needs improvement

*2023-02-26, version 3.31.0202*

I wrote the review below a while ago. My current view is that this app needs to removed and support for Amcrest View Pro expanded. On the iPad this app is a total disappointment while Amcrest View Pro is pretty good on both the iPad and the iPhone. There is no need for the iPad version.

My first Amcrest camera was the IP4M-1041W which was connected and configured quite easily. This camera is controlled by my alarm to be powered only when the alarm is on. Everything works well enough including its alarm functions. Then I added an IP5M-C1188EW for outside use. This camera does not support PTZ, yet the the iPhone app still shows the control when viewing the camera. It was a point of confusion at first until I reviewed the camera’s capabilities. With 2 cameras and both on Live View, the swipe to move between cameras works well. Nice. Another issue the differences between the iPhone and iPad versions of the app. The iPhone version has the PTZ function enabled on an unsupported camera whereas the iPad version shows the PTZ controls as non-functional. Yet, on the iPad viewing the IP4M with PTZ, I cannot get what appears to be the PTZ controls to work at all. Thus non-functional everywhere AFAIK. On the iPad after access to the top left menu functions, the Live View button does not return to a live view. Overall, the app is functional, with iPhone vs iPad differences as noted. However, both versions of the app have a neglected feel and I think both versions could be cleaned up and functionality merged. It is much easier to configure the cameras from the local web interface, it could be improved, but it works well. Between the camera value proposition and the app, I’m still pleased with my selection of Amcrest for my security cameras. Posted to iPad version.

### 1/5 — Does not work on iPad

*2022-07-21, version 3.31.0202*

Same camera that works on iPhone does not work on iPad ; sad performance

### 2/5 — Good app but incomplete

*2022-06-25, version 3.31.0202*

Where are the preset controls?

### 4/5 — H265 dav

*2022-06-20, version 3.31.0202*

Amcrest has a h265 .dav video file converter for windows, it would be helpful if there were an app for iPad Pro that would do the same. I am not able to do anything with the .dav file except to view it within the Amcrest pro app. iOS will not even recognize the file. You cannot even convert it so that it can be shared. Update; I discovered the iPhone app records video in mpg4 which is recognized on an iPad. To record and view video you need to use the iPhone app on the pad…..which makes no sense. You should be able to choose between the two formats or it should just default to mpg4.

### 1/5 — Just use the web version

*2022-06-14, version 3.31.0202*

Can’t even go back and look at another days footage.

### 1/5 — Need to update your app

*2022-04-23, version 3.31.0202*

The Amcrest developer need to update this software because it’s getting crashed more and more and support new hardware of the ipad to make it run better. Hope to get it update soon before I buy the cameras from other companies

### 1/5 — Video pro for ipad and iPhone

*2022-04-20, version 3.31.0202*

Terrible experience with this software. I hope an update is forthcoming. Spent far too many hours trying to get the software to record consistently even after many times talking with support.
Support has been good; software bad.

### 1/5 — No update in 4 years and doesn’t support new cameras

*2022-03-11, version 3.31.0202*

This app does not support IP5M-1190W. Tech support couldn’t get it to work on the ipad. iphone app updated a month ago works fine with the new camera. Time to get this app up to speed!!!

### 1/5 — Push notifications do not work in the Ipad version

*2022-01-13, version 3.31.0202*

I have tried everything to make this work - deleted, reinstalled, tried a different (new) iPad, had over 20 email responses from Tech support but the Push notification and event recording does not work on the iPad version. Installed the iPhone version on the same iPad and it works fine!!

Tech support fail to understand this or don’t care.

### 4/5 — Great app but needs a bit of work

*2021-10-26, version 3.31.0202*

I love the playback motion feature that when you play it it skips to the next motion and to the next. So you can go over a whole day relevant moments in minutes.
The app has some bugs though.
And would be much easier and nice to just pick the day for playback as opposed to having to set a day and time for start and a day and time for end with that limitation of 24hrs.

### 1/5 — Garbage software

*2021-09-02, version 3.31.0202*

This software works sometimes and sometimes not at all. Crashes frequently. Will not playback video at a point of your choosing - seems to always jump forward a couple of hours or to the very end. Very frustrating to try to use. Each update seems to introduce new errors and inconsistencies.

Come on Amcrest, can’t your development team do better than this!

### 1/5 — Don’t buy that

*2021-08-16, version 3.31.0202*

Since a while, I constantly need to disconnect and reconnect the camera. My router is fine because I can see with my IP cam pro. The camera is fine. The problem is at Amcrest. It goes on and off. Whether with my iPad or my iPhone.

### 1/5 — dosn't work ipad

*2021-08-04, version 3.31.0202*

Can connect with wifi but the options are difficult to set don't know how I can schedul and select aregion mask to watch and got no notifcation worst app cam I try

### 1/5 — Weak Diluted Security

*2021-07-03, version 3.31.0202*

You know this company does not have an IT team when it developed 10 different apps instead of one. Each one is just slightly different and a complete waste of time. Need help and try to call? Have fun spending 10+ minutes waiting for someone with the hold message on a glitching repeat. It’s a 5 second message on constant, glitching repeat. It was the most miserable experience of my life. Trying to get your camera from your iPad to your iPhone? You need a computer and you need to download 3 MORE DIFFERENT SOFTWARES to do it, and it’s still not guaranteed to work. This is the worst security design I could ever work with. Literally, if the person who gave me a set of cameras did not pass away (and thus being one of the last gifts ever received from the,) I would throw it all away bc it’s just not worth it. The system is not secure and so poorly designed. This must be the most weak and hackable security system I have ever seen.
There’s ZERO option on any app or any of the three computer softwares I wanted to download to upgrade so I can feel safe leaving my home and know everything is being recorded. Absolutely worst experience ever.

### 1/5 — Ok, but crashes

*2021-02-17, version 3.31.0202*

This is the only app I use (iPad) that crashes due to “out of memory” errors. Please update.

### 1/5 — Not updated for >4 years

*2021-02-10, version 3.31.0202*

The app for ipad only works now for viewing live cam. You cannot access any recordings. This problem arose with latest camera firmware which somehow the app isnt happy with. You just get ‘no recording’ error message if you try and find recordings (despite the fact the recordings do exist). Shame its never been upgraded to fix this.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Crashes since iPad OS update to 18.3.2

*2025-04-15, version 3.31.0202*

As stated by other reviews the app now crashes whenever you change playback parameters. Started happening after iPad OS update to 18.3.2. Please fix this. The app is unusable trying to playback anything beyond the current day.

### 1/5 — Constant crashes

*2025-02-28, version 3.31.0202*

App crashes almost every time I try to add or delete a camera. Tried deleting and redownloading the app with same behavior.

### 1/5 — Does not connect

*2024-09-08, version 3.31.0202*

It will not connect to the camera even after verifying the username and password five times. This app appears to be developed by someone with little understanding of English, as they substitute “crate” for “create”. The app doesn’t work and is useless, so zero stars is what they deserve.

### 1/5 — Worst app on App Store

*2023-10-16, version 3.31.0202*

I don't know how a professional company can let something like this stand. Aren't they embarrassed? Something as simple as selecting HD for the camera view isn't saved, each time you go into the app you have to select HD again. And the main images on the monitor attached to the NVR are horrible as you can't actually select the resolution of the NVR output, you would have to have a monitor that matched the NVR maybe? Can't tell. Technically it works, but all the apps and documentation are many years old. Why is this being sold as new if it's so old?

### 1/5 — Not so good on the iPad

*2023-02-01, version 3.31.0202*

The iPad version does not support live view well. After running for a few minutes, the image is jumpy. Looking at the time stamp, you see the time jumping back and forth.

### 1/5 — Horrible

*2023-01-29, version 3.31.0202*

So frustrating. This app does not work.

### 1/5 — Can’t set up new cameras on P2P

*2022-12-16, version 3.31.0202*

I have set up new Amcrest Cameras for years. Suddenly with a recent update I can no longer set up new cameras on my iPadusing P2P. It errors out “Failed to Connect”.

I can connect those same cameras to the iPhone app with no issues using P2P. Obviously, an issue with the iPad app.

### 1/5 — Can’t connect both of my camEraS

*2022-11-28, version 3.31.0202*

Tried many times.

### 1/5 — Playback save no good

*2022-10-18, version 3.31.0202*

Cannot save videos to the iPad because of some format error. Cannot screen record playback because it doesn't record the sound. This is unreal. I have a lot of money invested into Amcrest for them to give up app development.

### 1/5 — App isn’t reliable

*2022-07-29, version 3.31.0202*

The app sits and spins about 70% of the time, it is NOT my internet since every other app doesn’t have this issue. And yes I’ve deleted it and redo loaded. It makes a great camera not so great when you can’t access it.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Good app

*2023-01-16, version 3.31.0202*

Very happy

### 5/5 — Perfect idk bad comment but my app working perfect

*2021-01-17, version 3.31.0202*

Perfect

### 5/5 — Great WiFi camera

*2020-10-30, version 3.31.0202*

Have been using Amcrest now for over 12 years and have over that time purchased 9 cameras for my business. Once set up I’ve had no issues logging in to view remotely. I use my iPhone with the app and it’s great. I’ve only just got the MacBook app to work this year so I can jump on the cameras now on my Mac while doing other work. For the price these are great but I do agree with other reviews that Amcrest should provide more updates so we can get the best from it.

### 5/5 — P2P stopped working on iPad app only

*2019-09-11, version 3.31.0202*

Update 9/11/2019
P2P is working now on iPad. No issues whatsoever. I upgraded rating.

P2P stopped working on all my iPads. Called support 3 days ago and was told it would be fixed. I really hope so. iPhone app working fine so far.
If it would be fixed I had no issues with this app.

### 5/5 — Have two systems and love the app.

*2019-06-05, version 3.31.0202*

I’m surprised by the negative reviews. I have had my system about three years. I live in a high crime area. I’ve caught four thieves and the police were very impressed with the quality of image. I could even walk outside and show the police on my iPad, and sent them an image. I travel a lot and can see my house from anywhere in the world. I bought another system for my church and we love it. Everyone on staff downloaded the app and can keep an eye on things. I use the iPad app and the iPhone app and prior to that I used the android app as well. I really don’t have any issues with the apps. I use it almost daily to check my cameras.

### 5/5 — Works great

*2017-06-16, version 3.31.0202*

Takes some getting used to but once you get it, works great. I have cameras around the outside. Set up motion in certain areas so it emails me a picture with date and time. I know everything going on around my house. Even sent a video of the coyote walking thru my backyard and sent to all neighbors to watch their dogs!

### 5/5 — Works as well as iPhone App

*2017-02-18, version 3.31.0202*

I don't understand why all the negative reviews. I have one camera in my house. I downloaded the app and went to device manager, add a device, then I just copied all the info in my iPhone under the device manager (hit the pencil button) and it loaded my live feed instantly. It's not dumby proof I understand but the negative reviews aren't warranted, the app works great 😃

### 5/5 — Amcrest 5 star awesome app

*2017-01-23, version 3.31.0202*

The best security camera on the market! The app works flawlessly. If you have any trouble at all don't hesitate to call tec support they will quickly solve any problem.

### 5/5 — Fantastic!

*2016-12-31, version 3.31.0202*

This camera is amazing. Does everything it says on the box. Had it up and running in 5 minutes. All features work perfectly.
I bought another one yesterday.

### 5/5 — Works fine

*2016-12-07, version 3.31.0202*

This app works perfectly fine. The other negative reviews likely have no idea how any of this stuff works. Within 1 minute I had the app configured to access my camera.
