Often times, because of availability and timing, I use other airlines. I have to say that the American App is the easiest to use and track all of my flights. Have to log in with a username and password every time I open the app. In line at security? Have to step out and hit “need help remembering password”. I just want my boarding pass. Two factor authentication is unnecessary and frustrating. ### 1/5 — Iphone version wouldn’t allow me to set a new password after having to call to reset my account. *2026-08-26, version 2026.26* There was no “continue” button. Fortunately I have a Samsung backup and the android version of the app worked. I must have spent an hour including the phone call, to get my reset “account” working. Courteous but terrible customer service. Fortunately I knew better than to answer “yes” when the automated review asked if the Rep had fixed my problem. If they don’t stay on the line with you until you have your account working or at least ask if you would like them to, they have NOT fixed the problem. ### 1/5 — AwardWallet missing *2026-08-25, version 2026.26* Why can’t I track this on AwardWallet ! ### 1/5 — SHOW ME RECEIPTS *2026-08-25, version 2026.26* why is it so impossible to get a receipt from you people? Just populate it in the app or on the website like a normal company. You have the history, don’t make it hard to find the receipt. This is ridiculous. ### 1/5 — Horrible Customer Service *2026-08-25, version 2026.26* Fly from London to LaGuardia to pick up a flight to dallas. Flight got cancelled, had to take a train to Baltimore to get a flight back home. The customer service was horrible. I have called twice since my flight in July to get a refund for duplicate baggage charges. Still waiting on email or refund in mail. ### 1/5 — Unable to Checkin via the app *2026-08-24, version 2026.26* When the app updated, I lost the ability to check in via the app. There is no option to do so. I’ve connected with customer service and tech support several times. Their response, “that happens sometimes. I do apologize for the inconvenience”. I’d say that’s more than an inconvenience. It also prevents me from getting touchless pre check. This is absurd. They also acknowledge others have the same problem, and yet, there’s no fix. Update: The app and customer support via chat in app, is terrible. I truly hate it and it has flying via other carriers. I cannot check in. There is no option to do so. I have reached out several times and chat support does nothing and claims it’s always someone else’s problem. They tell me to delete and reinstall the app, and that’s after me telling them I have deleted and reinstalled the app several times. They tell me to try another device. But that’s after I’ve already told them I tried other devices. They told me to check in via AA.com. But that’s after I told them if I check in via the web, I’m denied touchless precheck. It’s just insulting. Never their problem and won’t provide assistance or transfer me to competent support. Problem still exists. Never ending. Months now. Update (2): more than 100 logged talking with AA. Nothing. Still unable to use the app to check in. The script is almost comical if not sad for how much time I’ve wasted. Now, each agent claims that the prior agent could not do what was claimed. It’s like a game at this point with all the changing the stories. One agent will claim something is not possible, to which I offer screenshots and emails to prove them wrong.
