### 1/5 — Possibly one of the worst iPad apps ever

*2017-03-18, version 5.0.8*

The only good thing about this app is the content. If it ever loads.

### 1/5 — Piece of garbage

*2017-03-14, version 5.0.8*

This complete farce of an app deserves a minus 10 rating. Please remove it from the App Store.

### 1/5 — Won't work

*2016-12-01, version 5.0.8*

Can't get app to load mag. Very very very very sloooooooooow. I fell asleep waiting for the app just to load. Please fix it I get the hard copy and it's GREAT!

### 1/5 — Great magazine, terrible app

*2016-11-04, version 5.0.8*

The content is great, but the app is the most frustrating app I have ever seen. Please fix it, ABJ!

### 1/5 — Terrible app supporting a great magazine

*2016-09-25, version 5.0.8*

Sloooooow to load. Worse yet, once you've loaded the issue you must stay active in the app. If you walk away to get coffee or take a call you must again reload the issue which gives ample time to get more coffee and make a sandwich.
The articles excellent and the app works fine once an issue is loaded.
Publisher Dadant needs to up their game and spring for better software and delivery.

### 1/5 — Useless App

*2016-09-23, version 5.0.8*

Can't log in, can't get downloads, still takes your money. Too bad as the online articles are great. No response from app maker.

### 1/5 — Ditto -please fix!

*2016-09-02, version 5.0.8*

Please fix this app! I love the American Bee Journal

*2016-04-16, version 5.0.8*

Can't open anything and won't log me in although my password and username is good, also it don't give you any way to reset it or get help!! Total wast!!! get the paper version in your mailbox

### 1/5 — Not a journal.

*2014-12-13, version 3.1.01*

Trying to sell magazines.

### 1/5 — Bad experience

*2014-07-13, version 3.1.01*

This has got to be the worst experience I have had with purchasing a digital magazine on my iPad. I registered then when I try to read the magazine it keeps asking me to register again and will not let me open or buy the mag. My subscription is active and I see the august addition but will not let me read. Tried to reinstall. Nothing. Sent numerous emails with no reply

### 2/5 — Great Magazine, Poor App

*2014-02-23, version 3.1.01*

ABJ is the essential magazine for anyone with an interest in beekeeping or honeybees. It has been #1 for over 150 years. The ability to take your copies of ABJ with you on your iPod would be great if the app worked. Unfortunately this app will suspend your subscription for no reason so that you can't open new editions even though the iTunes Store has collected quarterly subscription fees as scheduled. New issues appear with a "Buy" button that offers you the opportunity to subscribe even though you are already a paid up subscriber. Blue Toad who operates the app provides no avenue to report the problem, so you are stuck. Perhaps complaining directly to Dadant would bring a fix.

### 3/5 — App for abj

*2013-06-12, version 3.1.01*

ABJ is great the app to read the magazine on the I pad needs some work.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — App does not work

*2025-12-15, version 7.2.3*

I love ready American bee journal, this app has not been reliable. The app has not been able to load the magazine in a few months. I ended up paying for the subscription and reading the magazine directly on their website.

### 1/5 — Has not been updated in 7 years

*2023-09-28, version 5.0.8*

Does not work with current operating systems. Will not start. Should either be taken off of App Store or updated.

It’s too bad as ABJ is an awesome publication.

### 1/5 — American bee journal

*2023-07-13, version 5.0.8*

I only gave it a 1 because that is the lowest! Downloaded the app and have been trying to fill out the form for access to subscription, but it won’t allow me to put in the country(USA) or my state(GA)! Very disappointing.

### 1/5 — Needs an update

*2020-05-15, version 5.0.8*

This app is cludgy. Needs to be updated to improve performance on iPad devices.

### 1/5 — Even one star is too much

*2020-02-16, version 5.0.8*

I can only agree with the previous review. Worst app ever. I hope it was a DIY and not something they paid for.
My suggestion, let a professional handle this or take the app of the App Store.

### 1/5 — App abandoned.

*2019-08-25, version 5.0.8*

Last update Feb. 2016. There is no support. The App fully deserves the 1.0 overall rating.

### 1/5 — App is slower than honey in January

*2019-01-20, version 5.0.8*

Come on people! This app is so slow as to be unusable

### 1/5 — Wish I Could give zero stars

*2018-11-06, version 5.0.8*

Words can't explain how slow, failure to load, inability to carry my subscription over different devices. This app is a headache.

### 1/5 — How NOT to publish a great magazine

*2018-08-26, version 5.0.8*

This is the most disappointing app I’ve ever downloaded from the App Store, and that’s saying a lot. It’s a pity, because the content in ABJ is superior. As much as I’d like to read ABJ digitally, I’m going to have to continue borrowing my neighbor’s paper copies until Dadant realizes its mistake.

### 1/5 — Buggy and unusable

*2018-04-26, version 5.0.8*

I can't get past the registration step it's so buggy. Keeps telling me fields are blank even though I have entered them and the register overlay screen gets bumped offscreen when the keyboard comes up and doesn't come back down. It's basically unusable

*2013-07-01, version 3.1.01*

Love the app, love the magazine .

### 5/5 — Exelente recurso!

*2013-06-13, version 3.1.01*

Para el novicio o para el apicultor con experiencia, este journal ofrece mucha informacion clara y actualizada. Lo recomendamos e igualmente lo usamos como referencia para nuestros apiarios en Puerto Rico.

### 5/5 — ABJ

*2013-04-03, version 3.1.01*

This is a great magazine for anyone interested in beekeeping. Lots of good information including tips on how to be efficient and different points of view of how to best take care of the bees. Well worth the subscription.

### 5/5 — Superb iPad edition

*2013-01-24, version 3.1.0*

This app is great at getting the latest journal on beekeeping practices in the US.... works for me....

### 5/5 — Review

*2012-10-19, version 3.1.0*

This s a good app but is a bit unstable. I purchased an annual subscription over the Internet, which this app would not recognize so I purchased it again through the app itself. Some bugs obviously but overall very good.

### 5/5 — Excellent Magazine

*2012-08-23, version 2.3.9*

ABJ stays on topic and is most informative about current events.
