I cannot even get the app to open. I've tried resetting as well as resynching the app, but nothing works! Please fix this and I would gladly give this app the 5 stars that it deserves. :) ### 3/5 — Pops back to home screen *2011-08-27, version 3.6* I tried to redownload, reinstall the app and also rebooting my ipod, but when I tried to start the app, it immediately pops back to the home screen. This was after the latest update of 3.6, previous version doesn't have such a problem. Go to About > Settings, turn off background, then view any other screen--the other screens show as transparent with the About page behind it. Terrible. I'd like to give some of my ideas if you don't mind: First, to make typing faster and avoid errors, please add an automatic correction feature. Second, please add sample sentences with the meanings. Third, it'll be great if you update this software frequently. New: Fourth, move the "x" button in the typing box away from the "i" button on the top right hand corner. I accidently click the info button when I try to delete a word using the "x" button next to it. I have my default language on the phone set to German and I am assuming that the app doesn't know which language to pick and opts for Japanese. They had some poor anti-piracy code that ended up affecting ALL users, including those who paid for the app (me being one of them). I was traveling and wanted to use this app, and then it prompted me out of no where to have permission to access Twitter. I just blew through the pop ups because I wanted to use the dictionary app as a dictionary…the reason I bought it. Anyway, come to find out they published a post on my Twitter account without my permission: "How about we all stop using pirated iOS apps? I promise to stop. I really will. #softwarepirateconfession." Because my Twitter is also linked to my Facebook, it got spammed there as well. I keep close communication with my clients, so I was very surprised to see this pop up all over the place with my name attached to it. It was very embarrassing. Enfour: I'd like a refund—what happened was unacceptable, and a simple open letter of apology doesn't do much. I deleted the app once I read about the 'bug' and haven't looked back. Unfortunately, you already made money from my purchase many years ago. ### 1/5 — Can't believe ppl like this App. *2011-08-31, version 3.6* This Dictionary has no phrases examples, it's very poor, no pic examples. It describes a word in few words, that's it. It's the worst dictionary there is for 2 dollars, You guys need to improve it. It's 5 times worser then any free dictionary. Most of the words I want to look up aren't even in it. *2008-10-03, version 0* Buyer be warned: This dictionary lacks definitions for commonly used Latin phrases and infrequently used or somewhat obscure words. (It is also completely useless for "cheating" on crossword puzzles.) ### 1/5 — zero stars-DO NOT BUY *2008-07-27* This application bricked my iPhone for ten minutes. It left it unresponsive until it reset itself- which I had no idea if it would even do that. I thought I had a dead phone. I called Apple support-closed and ATT couldn't help. This application has amounted to a fancy piece of malware, which I paid for. I thought Apple was supposed to be the gatekeeper in preventing this very thing. Apple online directed me to report this problem to the developer-I'm not doing their job for them. Are our phones lab rats? This should not be happening at all! It is fine as long as one looks up common words, but is sparce on seldom used words, which frankly is why I use a dictionary . This is probably because it is a desk edition, but had I known how limited it was, I would not have purchased it. It is so easy to find the definition, pronunciation, syllabication, and word origin of any word you search for. This is superior to other dictionary apps. ### 5/5 — Excellent reference *2011-10-18, version 3.6.2* Provides a clear and brief definition and is easy to find words where spelling in not known ### 5/5 — Great Customer Support!!!! *2011-09-14* We have had this app for several years now and have used it almost daily for homeschool & general use. It's the best dictionary app out there in my opinion & well worth the price. What is really outstanding though is the customer support from "ENFOUR" and specifically from "Tracey" when we had some update problems with the app. We have older iphone versions (2nd generation) and don't alway's see the logic in getting the next new version of the same when it comes out. Apple has been "poor" in support of those of us that had made initial commitments to their product's, and when experiencing update problems they tend to hand you off to the "developer" to resolve issues that they would rather not deal with or have time to waste on. This can be a "nightmare" in many cases, but it was my luck to have contacted and been directed to Tracey from ENFOUR. The problem was corrected & the way it was handled by Tracey always made you feel like you were the only person that was most important. Triple A+ SERVICE & SUPPORT!!! ### 5/5 — It's just the fundamental app for words *2011-08-26* Thanks for the ipad update. One more reason to like American Heritage! Now, back to my original comment: The dictionary app is based on my favorite dictionary, American Heritage. Functionally it's a fine app, and is my standard for looking up my words. This is the dictionary I am required to purchase for my kids to use at school. Replaced the trusty dictionary I've always had on my desk with this app. By the way, you can remove the background photo in Settings. ### 5/5 — Does The Job *2009-10-16* It's not the monster dictionary some people may want, but for the price, it's a decent travel dictionary and does what I need it to on-the-fly. Another words: it's nice to be able to look up a word on my phone when I'm out wherever. If I'm writing or studying, I usually have a dictionary available, but since I don't carry a hard cover collegiate dictionary around in my pocket, this works just fine. I have the Ultralingua one too and I like it. For the money I think I like this one better, though.
