### 1/5 — Pretty awful

*2021-05-05*

For the amount of money that I paid for Beat the Boards (including the 50% off group discount), this app should work WELL. Instead we get a poorly designed app that in my case is not even giving me the option to go through the material I paid for just a couple of months ago. Do better please?

### 1/5 — Not good

*2021-04-17*

App stops working when phone goes into sleep mode. Can’t listen to lectures while driving, like other apps. App does not remember my sign in information, so I have to enter it each time...but can’t do that anymore, since I can’t use it while driving. When I called API, they said they were working in it. That was weeks ago. They can do be better!

### 1/5 — Where are the engineers ?!

*2020-10-20*

This course is $1000 per person to buy.
Where are the app engineers who actually know how to construct one that works ? I can ignore that it’s not fitting to the dimensions of the phone and there are glitches where videos don’t play on the first tap, but for there to be NO AUDIO AT ALL for any of the videos to listen to while I’m in the car seems incredibly stupid and unacceptable. This app is supposed to extend the lectures to be something you can listen to on the go, it utterly fails.

### 1/5 — Lectures don’t play

*2019-10-08*

App doesn’t even work most of the time.

### 1/5 — Horrible app!

*2019-09-04*

Does not work at all. Downloaded videos don’t play, crash easily, format for the questions don’t work at all as there’s problem with scrolling and many more issues! Waste of time.

### 1/5 — Worthless

*2019-07-20, version 1.11*

Lectures don’t even play 90% of the time.

### 1/5 — Pain Medicine board study guide

*2019-05-10*

The App is temperamental and unreliable. It frequently does not allow for even the downloaded video lectures to play. Any interruption requires starting over and the app does not keep your last place in a video. It doesn’t even keep the last video watched and it requires going through the long list of lectures and remembering where you left off. Multiple calls and emails to the company, API, did not solve the problem. I have wasted a lot of time trying to access the information, as sometimes the system simply is impossible to access. Also, the app does not allow for onetime download of multiple videos or lecture note PDF. It requires downloading one-by-one. This is, especially, inconvenient if you plan on working offline in places without internet access. As far as the content, many of the lecturers (~40%) just read off the slides fast and monotonously.

API sort of admitted to the problems, but no solution.

### 1/5 — 1 Star

*2018-08-02, version 1.2*

Only 5 out of the 31 lectures appear in the app.

### 1/5 — Too many bugs

*2026-05-16*

Don’t waste your money
There are too many glitches and bugs in the app to make it worth your time.

### 1/5 — CMEToGo

*2026-01-01*

The content is generally interesting and helpful. Using the app has been very frustrating. It takes a long time to download content, and sometimes the lecture won’t download. Lectures are frequently lost so that they can no longer be played and need to be downloaded again. This occurs despite having plenty of extra storage on my iPad. Very frustrating experience.

### 1/5 — Disappointing

*2025-04-03, version 1.7.18*

Horrible app. Barely works

### 1/5 — Needs a lot of work

*2024-08-06*

Great review course but productivity is significant worsened by crashing app, unable to play offline videos despite download, and incompatibility with other PDF apps to take notes while using on your iPad. API would benefit from putting some attention to reworking these solutions.

### 1/5 — Terrible app

*2024-07-22*

Costs hundreds of dollars to use this product. Absolute garbage app. Sometimes won’t launch. Sometimes cannot resume exams. Takes over a minute for exams to load from mobile. The qbank isn’t even that good. Imo, not worth the money nor is this app in any reasonable functional state.

### 1/5 — Almost Completely Nonfunctional

*2024-07-13*

This app is almost completely nonfunctional despite multiple updates. I was primarily hoping to use the app to listen to audio lectures during my commute but over the 9 months that I’ve had the app installed lectures will work about only 20% of the time even when the audio is downloaded through the app.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2023-02-26*

iPhone. Updated app. Has gone from buggy to useless. Doesn’t store downloaded content. When content is downloaded, it won’t play. Unable to play or stream anything. Completely stopped working. Considering cancelling my subscription and requesting a refund as this has been problematic for years.

### 1/5 — Major problems with function

*2022-12-30, version 1.7.12*

The app is so full of bugs that it is just about worthless. 1. When listening through bluetooth in car, APPLE MUSIC plays concurrently and, if u turn off APPLE MUSIC, the audio component to the lectures a is no plays. 2. Once the downloaded video lecture starts, there is no way to turn it off except by exiting the program/app. If u then want to restart it, the lecture begins at the beginning. And the is no way to adjust the playback to that point in time where you want to resume the lecture. 3. When u are watching/listening to video, there is no way to pause it (for example, to read a question) or rewind by 15 - 30 sec to view a concept that was just explained again. The controls for these functions appear transiently when you begin the lecture, and within seconds disappear from the screen and are never seen again. No way to access them either. So the lecture just plays on as if u were in the lecture hall hearing it live. These seem like well-defined problems that could be fixed by hiring a competent programmer. Very concerning that these problems are not being addressed and fixed. Poor management somewhere in the organization.
ADDDNDUM: They fixed some problems and introduced others: With recent upgrade (Nov-Dec 2022) (1) Downloaded lectures don’t stay downloaded. You have to reload them each time u reopen to app. (2) The app logs u out after what seems like a short period inactivity. So a vicious cycle is created: the need to constantly log in and the redownload the lecture you want downloaded. This is on iPhone 13. Haven’t tried it on other platforms yet, but it makes listening while driving unpleasant and dangerous. I called about the problem, left msg and was told i would get a call back. 3 days later…still waiting. Sad when attempts to improve an app by debugging actually make it worse.

### 1/5 — Poor app architecture sabotages FANTASTIC content

*2021-09-04*

I can wax poetic about things that ensure this app is only minimally useful, but I think it'll be most enlightening if you:
1-Sign in with end user access (not admn/builder access)
2-Pull up the CORTICAL SYNDROMES lecture in Neurology Initial Certification course.

And that's it. That exercise alone should demonstrate its major flaws.
Even a generic mobile browser is more functional than the sucky app itself, but unfortunately doesn't allow download for on-the-go.

### 1/5 — Suddenly stopped working

*2021-08-19*

The app design wasn’t great to begin with (lectures annoying to access) but it was working. Suddenly it won’t load any question blocks for me today. In addition to not being able to break down topics by diagnosis on exams, this is pretty annoying. For $1000 ($500 with a huge group) I would expect more.

## Most praised reviews (7 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — I actually dont mind it

*2024-12-28*

Its the main reason i passed boards

### 4/5 — Great program!! Good app.

*2025-12-10*

The app could definitely use some work. The program is wonderful especially on the computer!!

### 3/5 — For psychiatry

*2025-07-03*

Content is decent for psychiatry boards. The app and website are terrible.

### 3/5 — Adequate

*2019-09-04*

Works well enough but clunky to get through. Desperately needs ability to speed up playback which is available on website.

### 2/5 — Not good enough

*2024-02-06*

The app is poor compared to what boardvitals app offers. Worse UI, crashes and lags, less information available via app compared to website. Please work on the app

### 2/5 — Can Improve with more attention

*2019-08-11*

The app has many issues (crashing, slides lagging)- though the customer service team is very quick to respond and fix problems once brought to their attention via the API website. Having the lectures in a list format would save lots of time and scrolling to get to the lecture you need.

The update made it worse- more crashes.

Please add more of the website features to the app.

### 2/5 — Poor interface

*2019-07-09*

The app would be more user friendly if the lectures were presented in a list format and not a swipe left or right to find the lecture you need. This is not Tinder. Swiping 50+ times to get to the lecture I need is mind-numbing and a waste of time.
