With no explicit focus on the sound being contrast for the target sound and no attention to the sound’s environment (the place in the word or the following sound), these apps are not as pedagogically effective as they could be. The graphic user interface is quite easy to use and fairly well designed, but the pedagogical content does not make these effective for a basic introduction to these sounds.
