## What is Amherst TV?

Effortlessly stream your Amherst Communications Cable TV channels on Internet-connected devices. This new service allows our TV subscribers to stream all your Amherst Cable TV channels, as long as you are located within our service area.  Both our Amherst and Union TV customers have access to this service.
 
Enjoy the intuitive interface, using the features that you love from our current service: Record shows & watch them later, Restart TV, Pause Live TV, Quick Guide, and more. Some features are new, such as the popular “For You” poster format where you can quickly access your recently watched channels, recordings, and even weather.

We’ve made major improvements to the AppleTV experience to ensure faster performance, stronger reliability, and enhanced feature support. Here's what’s new:

Improved Stability & Performance
Startup Fixes: Resolved an issue that could cause the app to sign out unexpectedly after long periods of inactivity.

Faster Resume: Reduced app loading time after being idle for 8+ hours.

Platform Compatibility Upgrades
The app now supports the latest Apple tvOS (18+), ensuring smoother updates and stronger security.

Encryption support updated to the latest version of FairPlay, aligning with Apple’s newest media standards.

Smarter Navigation & User Experience
Back Button Behavior: Now returns to the main menu properly before closing the app.

Track Selection: If multiple audio tracks are available (e.g. alternate languages), a new track selector will appear for easier switching.

Better Recording Control
Improved the record/delete buttons while searching. You’ll now clearly see when a program is scheduled to record or has been deleted.

Smarter Fallback for Streaming Errors
If a channel encounters an error (404), the app now tries an alternate streaming source automatically—if one is configured.

Under-the-Hood Improvements
The app was completely rebuilt on a new modern framework for better performance and maintainability.
(Note: “Now Playing” preview on the home screen is not yet supported.)
