## What is Amiora?

Nobody ever fell in love with Spanish through a vocabulary list.

It was a scene you watched twice, the second time without subtitles. It was the conversation you followed to the end before realizing you'd stopped translating.

Amiora is built for that, and for the fifteen minutes in the evening when it's possible.

WATCH

A feed of real video in Spanish: street interviews, everyday conversation, podcasts, clips and trailers.

Native speakers talking the way they talk to each other, not actors reading a script for learners.

English, French, Italian and Portuguese are here too, same feed, same tools.

Every clip is matched to where you are, not to where a course thinks you should be.

You acquire a language by understanding a little more than you comfortably can, so we look for the clip you'll follow most of, and reach for the rest.

Understand all of it and nothing sticks. Understand none of it and you switch off. That narrow band in between is where a language is actually learned.

Tap any word to see what it means in that sentence, in that moment, said by that person. Not in a dictionary.

SPEAK

Talk about what you just watched.

Order the coffee, argue about the ending, say the thing you'd never risk saying to a stranger in a language you're still finding.

The voice never rushes you and never sighs. You can be wrong a hundred times and nobody will know. Mistakes get corrected gently, and you control how thorough it is.

This is the part everyone skips, and it's the part that works.

Saying a word out loud fixes it far harder than reading it again, and it's the honest reason most of us are here: we don't want to know a language, we want to speak it.

A good human teacher is still the best thing there is.

An AI tutor is the next best thing, at a fraction of the cost, awake at eleven at night, and never tired of the same conversation.

WORDS

Every word you add to review comes back, timed for the evening you were about to forget it.

The timing is the science.

Memory fades along a curve, and a word brought back just before it goes is worth a dozen reviews of a word you already know.

So we return each word close to the last useful moment, then push the next review further out. The list stays short while the vocabulary grows.

PROGRESS

Not points. Not a mascot with a grievance.

The words you've actually said out loud, the minutes you held a conversation, the things you couldn't do in March and can do now.

WHY IT WORKS

Three ideas, none of them ours, all older than this app: comprehensible input (Krashen, 1981), active recall (Roediger and Karpicke, 2006), spaced repetition (Ebbinghaus, 1885).

And the connecting, which most apps leave out: the word you met on Tuesday is the word you said on Wednesday and still have on Saturday.

WHAT YOU WON'T FIND

There's a daily streak, because a bit of rhythm helps. There's no guilt attached to it.

No hearts to lose, no cartoons, no panic screens.

You're an adult who enjoys learning, and we'll treat you like one.

SUBSCRIPTION

Watching is mostly free. The feed, the interactive subtitles and the in-context translations are open to everyone, every day.

Amiora Premium adds the AI conversations and the advanced features.

Amiora Premium is an auto-renewing subscription, billed monthly or yearly. Prices are shown in the app before you confirm.

Try our premium subscription for full access.

If you purchase an Amiora subscription, payment will be charged to your iTunes account, and your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period. ### 3/5 — Very good app, but…

*2026-10-14*

I like the initial survey questions. However, when talking to the AI, it can’t hear me. I have to put my mouth to the speaker of my phone before it notices my replies,(and yes, I am conversing in a quiet room). That alone is very irritating. Also, it would be great if I didn’t have to hold down the microphone button in order to speak. An auto listening feature for my replies would be awesome. Other than that, this would receive five stars, so far.

### 2/5 — Great content, horrible pronunciation and accents

*2026-10-13*

Would try again if they improved this. But the tutor can’t even pronounce y and says the letter Y.

### 5/5 — Seguiré poniéndola a

*2026-10-13*

Está muy buena por los momentos

### 5/5 — Me encanta

*2026-10-12*

La mejor app

### 5/5 — I love ittttt

*2026-10-11*

Perfect just perfect a it really helps me communicate with people around me

### 3/5 — A few glitches

*2026-10-05*

I love some aspects of this app. And I think it has potential to be really good. But I have found it to have a lot of glitches. It often doesn’t allow me to play the sound of the teacher saying the words. It will get half way through what she is saying in the conversation and then I have to read the rest. And quite often when I’m doing the word reviews, it won’t let me play the audio to hear the pronunciation of the word I’m learning. I also find the one on one tutorials with the ai teacher are not beginner level. They jumped straight into discussion about work and presentation and it was far above beginner level. But one thing I really enjoy is the slow speaking videos where someone takes you to the shops or whatever. They are good.

**Developer response:** Thank you for writing this, and for the kind words about the slow-paced videos. A fix for the audio cutting out, both in conversations and when playing words during reviews, is in the latest release (at least we've tested it and couldn't reproduce), so please update the app. We're still working on keeping the one-on-one conversations at a true beginner level. Thank you for telling us.

### 3/5 — New User

*2026-09-30*

This app will be good once it’s tweaked a bit. I’m not able to switch my lessons if my current plan is too difficult. It started me on B2 and I’d like to change it to grasp some things first. There are some nice features on this app once you get in the groove.

**Developer response:** Thank you for giving Amiora a try. Changing your level is fixed in the latest release, so please update the app. Then open Progress, find Your level and tap Change. Your daily plan moves to the level you choose, so you can build the basics first and step up when you're ready.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.8.0 — 2026-10-13

When you earn a badge, Amiora now tells you as soon as you finish.

Tap a saved word to open its card, and filter your words by how well you know them. Deleting a word now asks you to confirm first.

Word games read every option aloud. Pick the wrong one and you hear your choice, then the right answer, so the difference sticks.

In Watch, the line being spoken now sits right under the video, and a video you just watched shows up in Videos to discuss right away.

We also fixed a crash some of you hit when the microphone started, and your progress numbers now match on every screen.

### 1.7.0 — 2026-10-12

Speak has a new home with three tabs. Curated holds conversations we picked for you. Community shows the ones other learners share, and you can like your favorites. Mine keeps the conversations you created, videos you watched and can discuss, and anything shared with you. One search now looks through all three at once.

If you sign in to an existing account during setup, the answers you just gave come with you instead of being lost.

Want to check your level before changing it? Answer three quick questions, whatever language you learn.

In word games the answer plays straight away. Watch chapters are easier to tap and the chapter list scrolls properly. In a Speak conversation, the hint no longer pulls you away from the reply you are reading. Settings is now grouped into clear sections.

### 1.6.1 — 2026-10-07

Long tutor replies now arrive as separate messages, one after another, each with its own translate button and press-and-hold reactions. Tutor audio is steadier too, and no longer skips a sentence.

Change your level straight from the Progress tab. Watching a video to confirm it is now optional.

Words shows your most recent words at a glance, with every word on the new Your words page. Quick review now simply asks whether you knew the word.

After a video or a conversation, the word list leaves out words already in your vocabulary, so you only see what's new.

You can delete a custom conversation you made, and search finds "café" when you type "cafe".

Steadier screens throughout the app: buttons and messages stay where they are instead of jumping as you go. Car mode no longer stalls between batches of words.

### 1.6.0 — 2026-10-06

Talk to your tutor like a phone call. Switch Speak to call mode and the chat steps aside to show your tutor, while corrections keep arriving in the thread. Amiora remembers which mode you prefer.

New home screen widgets. Keep your streak and your next step in view, or learn a word of the day without opening the app.

Car mode in Words lets you practice hands-free. Every word is spoken aloud, and it can move on by itself while your eyes stay on the road.

Press and hold any tutor reply to react to it, so the tutor knows what landed and what didn't.

Practice now shows the sentence each word came from, with the word highlighted, so you remember where you met it.

Out of ideas for a custom conversation? Tap Suggest one. You can also reopen a finished Speak lesson for a fresh chat.

Better layouts on iPad, clearer text at the largest sizes, your Progress days counted in your own time zone, and more of the app translated.

### 1.4.0 — 2026-10-03

Your course, as a path

Home now shows your course as a path. Every lesson has its own icon and a short title, today's lesson sits in its place in the list, and Home opens with it in the middle of the screen. Finished lessons get a tick, and the level you are in stays pinned at the top as you scroll.

Word practice that teaches more

You can end a word practice session at any time. A wrong pick is clearly marked, and once you find the right answer you see the meaning of every option, so a lucky guess still teaches you the other words. At the end of a round, you hear the word and then its meaning.

Type what you hear

A wrong answer is now shown as wrong, with the part you got right kept in green. The hint fills in one letter at a time, and the result card always shows the word's meaning.

A hint that keeps up with you

Stuck on what to say in a Speak chat? Tap the hint for a way to answer, and tap it again for another one.

Settings that fit how you learn

You can now set your daily goal and the language Amiora explains things in, right from Settings. Edit profile lets you change why you are learning and the topics that interest you.

Words that remember where they came from

Review cards now have a pronounce button, and they show where you picked each word up, so you can recall the moment you met it.

Your streak, explained

The daily habit is called a streak everywhere in the app. Tap it to see how its tiers work, and words you add to your deck now count toward it.

Easier to read at any text size

At larger text sizes, titles, plan prices and practice words stay whole instead of breaking mid-word. VoiceOver reads the app more clearly, and the buttons in getting started are easier to tap.

Smaller things you will notice

Getting started is smoother: speaking pace has its own step, and Amiora asks for the microphone the first time you hold to speak. Your tutor now speaks in a way that matches its voice. Badges show the same counts as your Progress cards, the daily conversation has a back button that asks before you leave, and a correct-grammar tick no longer appears over a mistake. Translating a long tutor reply in Speak no longer fails, longer tutor replies play again when you reopen a conversation, and the speaker button in word games no longer goes quiet. On the paywall, tapping the top plan opens the full list of plans.
