## What is AMO?

A Associação dos Amigos da Oncologia - AMO é uma organização não governamental, sem fins lucrativos, cuja missão é prestar assistência social e de saúde a pessoas carentes com câncer.

Fundada, em Aracaju, no dia 21 de novembro de 1996, a associação foi inicialmente formada por voluntários e profissionais de saúde que atuaram no centro de oncologia do Hospital de Cirurgia.

Milhares de famílias já foram acolhidas na luta contra o câncer. Hoje, a Associação contabiliza mais de quatro mil pessoas com câncer acolhidas e beneficiadas. Em geral, são pessoas de todos os cantos do nosso estado e também da Bahia, de Alagoas e de Pernambuco.

Média de novos cadastros: a cada mês, cerca de 30 pessoas são acolhidas com assistência para o tratamento contra o câncer.
