### 3/5 — Overpriced

*2020-02-20, version 2.0*

I like this game and I love AA but there’s no way this should cost so much, $3-$5 would have been fair but for what’s basically an auto running game, this is ridiculous. I hope the new game won’t be priced so high or will have more depth to justify a premium price.

### 5/5 — Amon Amarth!!!

*2019-03-26, version 2.0*

8bit classics from Amon Amarth? What more
Could you ask for?!

### 5/5 — Nice game!

*2019-02-01, version 2.0*

Love the band, love this game! It’s a lot of fun! It’s simple and easy to understand but still challenging and entertaining. Stay metal my friends 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻

### 5/5 — Great Game Worth Buying

*2018-11-12, version 2.0*

Very fun game, and you’ll support the band by buying it \m/

### 5/5 — Decent game but worth it for the music

*2018-10-15, version 2.0*

Kind of frustrating but still amusing-the music makes it. Nice work, cheers.

### 5/5 — Worth

*2018-08-24, version 2.0*

I don’t even like phone games, but this is genuinely fun to play. Obviously if you like the band the music will be great. The turning controls are kinda weird, but other than that it’s mostly smooth.

### 5/5 — Fun game. Great music

*2018-08-16, version 2.0*

Fun game to play. Not hard to figure out but still challenging

### 5/5 — Greatest in app music

*2018-07-25, version 2.0*

Any Amon Amarth lover should download his app and listen to the music.
Oh, and the game is cool too.

### 5/5 — Not free? Who cares

*2018-06-15, version 2.0*

Controls are fine, graphics are great in that pixel/retro way - chip tunes are awesome. The game I never realized I wanted. If you feel like complaining about the price, skip Starbucks for a day instead and buy it. It wasn’t free to make...

### 4/5 — Really great

*2018-01-03, version 1.3.1*

Wish they had a bit more songs and maybe if you could play as Loke that would make it way cooler but hey it’s great has good music and is funny.

### 5/5 — Amazing old school style game

*2017-12-30, version 1.3.1*

Nothing better than cracking skulls to Amon amarth. The music is brilliant, game play is fun and straight forward. The game is little bit pricy but in my opinion is worth it.

### 4/5 — I love the music but gameplay is not great

*2017-12-27, version 1.3*

Bought this to support the band and I love the music they made!
Controls are better than the first release but What's wrong with the old fashioned game boy setup with a D pad on left and two buttons on right? That'd work way better. If that's fixed I'll give a 5 star

### 5/5 — Great fun

*2017-12-23, version 1.3*

Amon Amarth is a band from Sweden and they’ve released their own video game for mobile devices. All the music is their own but in 8-bit format. Gameplay is very simplistic in nature but the level design is very challenging. They’ve really worked on the jumping sensitivity along with the weapon button. The first level is free and the whole game is $8(?). It’s a lot of fun, I’d definitely recommend it

### 5/5 — 8 bit metal!

*2017-12-22, version 1.3*

Sure, it takes a bit to get use to the basic control mechanics. Once you do, the simplicity of the game, the beauty of the throw back graphics, and the 8 bit metal cheering you on will continue to bring you back to this game.

### 5/5 — Glorious

*2017-12-19, version 1.3*

This is one of few phone appd that I genuinely enjoy.
You play as Thor in a mario-style platformer, destroying your enemies with Mjölnir and facing Norse Mythology-inspired bosses.
The latter 3 worlds are locked behind paywall but it's well worth the pay. And the 8-bit Amon Amarth themes are amazing!
Deserves at least a try, and I say buying the full version is worth the price.

### 5/5 — Great soundtrack and 10/10 gameplay

*2017-12-18, version 1.3*

Super fun game love the soundtrack and the gameplay!

### 4/5 — Great game. Greater music.

*2017-12-15, version 1.3*

First of i would like to say yes the game is $9. Have you ever heard the term “no such thing as a free lunch”? Either you pay up front or you pay in annoying advertisements in game. They make these games to make money. Personally I approve paying for an ad free game, and i like that they give you the first level free so you get a taste and come back for more.

Also 8bit style Amon Amarth music is awesome!

### 5/5 — Fun game, great music

*2017-12-10, version 1.2*

The game is not perfect as the controls take some getting used to, but the music more than makes up for it. Worth the $ to buy the full version. 5 star rating is because 1) To offset the really low ratings 2) Its Amon Amarth

### 5/5 — Great Game

*2017-12-02, version 1.01*

Really fun game for anyone who likes Norse themed stuff or is just a rabid Amon Amarth (fan like myself). It is a bit overly priced for the amount of levels. The control are odd but after practice you get used to them. The biggest thing is more levels ought to be added, such as with Jormungandr or other beasts.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — $9?

*2017-12-01, version 1.01*

Seriously? It says free but it gives you about a minute of semi-decent gameplay before you have to pay $8.99 for the rest of the game

### 1/5 — Overpriced Trash

*2017-11-23, version 1.01*

Incredibly mediocre platformer with bland gameplay and repetitive design. It’s definitely not worth $9. Maybe it would be worth paying a dollar or two for the chiptune covers, but when I downloaded the game the audio didn’t even work.

### 1/5 — No Sound

*2017-11-22, version 1.01*

There sound does not work. No music or game sounds. No point in testing any further without sound.

### 1/5 — It's not free

*2017-11-21, version 1.01*

Only one map is available. The rest of the maps costs you about 10 dollars. That's pretty steep man, you'd think a game with ads and maybe some in app purchases for more songs would be good but $10 for the game itself? Nah.

### 1/5 — It won’t let me delete

*2017-11-21, version 1.01*

I played the first level it offers free and I loved it and the music. The down side is that it won’t let you delete the app nor will it let you open it from the home screen.

### 1/5 — 1 free level. Pay for the rest

*2017-11-21, version 1.01*

Yeah. Gives you one free level. Then you have to buy the game. LAME! Stranger things did it right and gave it away for free!

### 1/5 — Not worth the money

*2017-11-20, version 1.01*

I tried the game out and the jumping is very stiff. It's hard to get past the first double jump especially with the broken game mechanic. I wanted to like this game but it's not worth the money with the poor jumping control

### 2/5 — Unintuitive Controls

*2017-12-25, version 1.3*

Biggest problem with the game is 1-touch direction controls. This leads to the game being overly difficult; not because the enemies are tough or the platforming tricky, but because the direction controls are poorly executed. If they create an update with the option to change the controls—maybe to NES style—then I could justify purchasing the game. As of right now, however, I’ll be uninstalling it.

### 2/5 — Only the first 60 seconds is free

*2017-11-27, version 1.01*

Expected a full game unlock to pop up at some point, but the minute of free gameplay you get didn’t even come close to convincing me to play the full game, I love Amon Amarth but this game is not worth your time or money, the controls are awful and the gameplay itself is pretty shallow and boring

### 2/5 — Why so much ?

*2017-11-23, version 1.01*

Super fun game for the 1 level i got to play, would totally buy it for like 2 or 3 bucks, but 9 is kinda a bit much just for a phone game, would really love to see it a bit cheaper ya know ?

### 5/5 — “Bad Game”? WHO CARES

*2023-01-01, version 2.0*

An Amon Amarth game and folks are complaining about GAMEPLAY? Shut your hole and live every Amon Amarth song through pixelated brutality. Amon Amarth songs playing as you murder things with a hammer? Absolute best case scenario.

### 5/5 — Worth the purchase after first level.

*2021-10-07, version 2.0*

This game is great and so is the other version for 2.99. This one becomes 8.99 for the rest of the game. I bought it and I’ll tell you this to clear the air and hopefully increase sales cuz the band is amazing. The free version you play when you download people complain it is cluncky and almost a demo, well I wasn’t bad for me but the moment I bought the game to continue it immediately improved the game performance. It’s worth it the worlds are fun and the music is awesome and retro! ⚔️🤘🏼🐺🤘🏼⚔️

### 5/5 — Amon amarth

*2021-10-05, version 2.0*

Love it sooo much would love it even more if it was controller supported

### 5/5 — The Music Alone is worth the Price

*2021-02-11, version 2.0*

Seriously, the chip times are awesome.

### 5/5 — Fun! And great 8 bit soundtrack

*2020-09-06, version 2.0*

Good way to pass the time and rock out to 8bit AA

### 5/5 — Fun game

*2020-05-22, version 2.0*

I love Amon Amarth and this game gives me something fun to do while enjoying their great music in 8-bit glory.

### 5/5 — Awesome

*2020-02-21, version 2.0*

As a huge fan of Amon Amarth I love this game the songs re written in 8 bit style and the whole idea of being Thor and exploring the different realms while fighting the monsters is super cool

### 5/5 — Awesome

*2020-02-18, version 2.0*

Absolutely love the game and the music

### 5/5 — I love it!

*2020-01-20, version 2.0*

I’m a huge Amon Amarth fan and old school gamer so being able to 8-bit jam out to awesome death metal and play a side scrolling platformer is phenomenal! Skål 🍻

### 5/5 — HAIL

*2019-06-22, version 2.0*

I️ wish it would TELL you it’s not free right from the beginning, but other than that it’s amazing. It’s really, REALLY hard (to me it was, anyway), but that just makes it all that more gratifying to beat
