When I first downloaded the app I was unable to change the colors of the running board lights. This went on for a week. There was not even an option to do so. Then an update came up, did that and finally had the option. Luckily I changed them to the color I wanted as soon as it updated bc now the app isn’t working correctly again. I’m unable to change the color, unable to manually turn on any of the lights, unable to change any settings…. Major bugs in this app that need to be addressed!! I will say now that I have changed them to the amber color and they match the rest of the lights on my truck. They look awesome. My review is for the app only, not the running boards themselves ### 1/5 — RGB lights don’t work *2025-02-12, version 1.7* There is no ability to change the color of the lights like I was promised. ### 1/5 — Needs an update *2025-02-08, version 1.7* This is quite possibly the worst app on the market. For how much is spent on these “Smart” series steps, I would have expected better. Integrate this into CarPlay or Siri, and these steps would be the best on the market. They are literally just missing. After a few days, the app fails to work properly. The PowerStep cannot connect to the iPhone and reports a password error. Everything shows as connected, however the steps will not deploy. Save your money and go with the regular Amp steps. ### 1/5 — App still not working *2026-03-13, version 1.8* Totally disappointed after just purchasing these and having them installed. Of course my decision to buy them was donate the LED and ability to use the app. to adjust the lighting. I would have thought that the glitches for app would have been resolved by now but that doesn't seem the case. Rebooted my phone, deleted and reinstalled the app and still nothing. Should’ve trusted all the negative reviews on the app. Steps so far work great. App not so much! ### 1/5 — Don’t waste your money on the app controlled SMART series steps *2025-09-26, version 1.8* The app is useless. The steps work fine manually but you cannot use the app to deploy and retract the steps. When connected by Bluetooth to the app they will work at first but stop working in a day or two. The app will still connect but won’t deploy the steps. Terrible app. For as much as they charge you’d think they could have an app that actually works ### 5/5 — Override feature makes car washes easy *2026-05-11, version 1.8* The powerstep app has been a great addition to my powerstep. The override feature is one of the best functions. Being able to manually deploy the powerstep while driving through the carwash makes cleaning the steps and rocker panel so much easier. Definitely a useful feature that adds convenience beyond just normal automatic operation. ### 5/5 — The APP works fine if…. *2025-03-25, version 1.7* You install it and answer ALL the questions. Name your phone, name your vehicle, add a password and confirm and anything else. THEN, ALL the features like changing the strip colors and MUCH more show up. ### 4/5 — Override period is too short *2023-07-21, version 1.1* Program works well, but needs to allow for longer override periods. All day or until turned off would provide much needed functionality. ### 4/5 — Needs Longer Override Limits *2022-01-15, version 1.1* App and PowerStep flawlessly work — great products. Only disappointment is that override timer to manually retract or deploy step is limited to 30 minutes. Would be a sure 5-star if the steps could be kept retracted for several hours, or preferably full-day, when desired. ### 2/5 — Needs work *2025-02-04, version 1.7* Have had my vision steps for over 2 months and the steps themselves are fine but the strip light and app need work. My strip lights used to change colors but no longer do. Set them and white is what I get. Driver side stop has about a 4 or 5 inch section that is green... Took a chance on these as the reviews all have the same complaints... Over paid for these steps when mine were new. Only purchased them for the color change.
