### 3/5 — Great App!

*2026-08-31, version 2.1.1*

I recently installed Jellyfin and then tried out the official app and Finamp. Both failed to work properly on my phone, with Finamp taking 10 seconds to open an album, and neither offered the ability to browse by folder. This app, combined with Navidrome, is so far working brilliantly! It’s incredibly responsive, highly customisable and does everything I need it to. Thank you!

Update: I wish this app was more reliable. Whenever I play a new song that hasn’t already downloaded, it seems to fail to show the total time and then when I try to skip forward in time, it ends up just stopping playback. It also regularly “plays” silence if I quickly skip through songs. It’s so disappointing as it could be great.

### 4/5 — Good but one annoying feature

*2026-08-22, version 2.1.1*

I quite like the app for using my navidrome library. The way I use it i mostly leave it in offline mode after downloading the albums i want to listen to.

Annoyingly, the app constantly makes an error message about not being able to sync this or that thing while in offline mode.

I request that these error messages be suppressed in offline mode. Because there is no expectation for the app to be able to sync while in offline mode, so no need for the annoying error messages.

Otherwise i love amperfy!

### 4/5 — Sehr gute und schöne App aber…

*2026-06-22*

### 5/5 — Fantastic app!

*2026-05-20, version 2.1.0*

This is going to be a fairly long review, so here goes.

I have had my own mp3 music collection since mp3 was invented! I’ve gone from Winamp to windows media center through to media browser (emby, kodi and now navidrome. All these had one thing in common, how to get my music to play in all rooms, and more recently, on my phone.

Amperfy allows me to do that, it’s not just on my phone, it’s also on my two iPads! I have a set of speakers that have a raspberry pi that runs an airplay server connected to it! It looks premium and works great! Thank you!

### 5/5 — Excellent

*2026-05-19, version 2.1.0*

Well maintained and recently updated with modern user friendly interface. Thank you !

### 5/5 — Five stars isn't enough

*2026-05-01, version 2.1.0*

Fantastic music player to stream from Navidrome running on a Raspberry Pi. Super smooth, fast, and beautiful. I appreciate being able to add multiple IPs for the same server such that it can be reached from within and outside the local network.

### 4/5 — Good app but I seem to be experiencing more issues than before

*2026-04-21, version 2.1.0*

As I said in the title I think the app is great however I seem to be experiencing more issues than before this latest update. The app lags quite a bit now seemingly at random times, battery life is drastically reduced (like more than any other app on my phone for some reason), and the app seems to crash quite often. Apart from the issues I think the actual feature of the app are great, I’ve tried other navidrome clients and they all seem to be missing something this app has to make me seriously consider swapping.

### 5/5 — it rocks

*2026-04-03, version 2.1.0*

probably the best subsonic api client for the iphone. beautiful native ui, indexes fast. very occasional crashes.

### 5/5 — fells like old school itunes

*2026-03-29, version 2.1.0*

and works great :))

### 4/5 — missing crossfade

*2026-03-28, version 2.1.0*

i love this app but i can’t run this as my main app because it doesn’t support crossfade. probably not a big deal for some people but i neeeeeed crossfade :(

### 4/5 — Really great!! But some CarPlay issues

*2026-03-25, version 2.1.0*

I was looking for an app to talk to my personal music media system and came across this app! Crossed off every requirement I was looking for!

Just to provide some feedback the CarPlay certainly acts buggy. I’ll hook up to my car and while it does appear, it does take a couple of attempts to open it in CarPlay as it seems to have a crashing issue. Don’t know if it’s because of my model car or phone, but just wanted to make note of it anyway.

The rest of the time the app works perfectly, UI is nice and getting hooked up to the right source is not hard.

I 100% understand that this app is not a professional app by company but is certainly well done! Thanks!

### 5/5 — Great free app 💯💯💯

*2026-03-24, version 2.1.0*

I paid 29£ for Flacbox lifetime sub and this free app works 100X better 😭

### 5/5 — Great… it’s just missing Watch app

*2026-03-16, version 2.0.0*

This is the best app I’ve used for my Navidrome library. I use it across iPhone, iPad, and Mac and it’s great. I only with it had an Apple Watch app to sync some playlists to my watch to listen to while out for a run. It’d be perfect with that.

### 4/5 — Works Great

*2026-03-14, version 2.0.0*

Really love this client, works perfectly with navidrome and has (mostly) all the features I’d want. Better CarPlay support would be nice, and I wish one-tap to play a song would work rather than needing to click the play button. Other than that, its really great

### 5/5 — Excellent iOS and macOS app!

*2026-03-12, version 2.0.0*

Couldn’t ask for a better Navidrome client. This does it all.

### 4/5 — The best, but

*2026-03-04, version 2.0.0*

I have been searching for a subsonic api music player for car play for a while and this has been hands down the best experience. Only negative is in carplay i cant browse directories and all my music is arranged that way. So i end up opening my phone alot to select a folder to play. Would be nice if you could add the directory option in car play. I would gladly pay for that

### 4/5 — Almost great!

*2026-03-02, version 2.0.0*

Covers the basics well.
I reallly wish it allowed a replaygain +/- preamp and (especially) allowed playback at the media’s native frequency instead of 44.1KHz always.

### 5/5 — Great Plug in Play Client

*2026-02-25, version 2.0.0*

I have a Navidrome setup in my home network and I was looking for a good client for mobile. Amperfy is super straight forward and does a great job of being flexible and configurable while keeping the technical details squared away. I have been able to very quickly get other people in my house setup no problem and to them it feels like any other music app.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Unusable, buggy, unmaintained

*2026-05-09, version 2.1.0*

Seems to be unmaintained, has hundreds of open bugs in the bug tracker, most with no response. Also tries to try to download all the metadata from every song when you first set it up, which takes forever on large libraries and completely drains your battery even when you aren’t playing anythjng.

### 1/5 — Error

*2025-05-30, version 1.2.3*

I keep getting error file is empty with navidrome

### 1/5 — Not functional

*2024-09-21, version 1.2.1*

Does not connect to any subsonic servers. Does not do what it says. App seems to have been abandoned by developer. Don’t waste your time.

### 1/5 — Trash

*2024-05-03, version 1.2.0*

This is legit the most atrocious music app I’ve ever used. Idk how they managed to screw up the next button but they pulled it off

### 1/5 — Update ruined it for me

*2024-04-23, version 1.2.0*

I loved Amperfy, I have been using it for quite a while now to listen to music off my Navidrome server. It’s been great, the interface was clean and simple, and everything worked how I expected/wanted it to. Last night there was an update that I ran, and now this morning I see what it was. Now if I go to my albums and hit shuffle, it doesn’t just shuffle all my music like it has since forever, no, now it picks a random album and only plays music from that album. I had to add the Songs tab to my homepage and I have to shuffle everything from there. Also the playback menu has changed and has way more unnecessary buttons and things I never asked for nor cared to have. I thought Amperfy was going to be my sole music app for my phone, now I guess I have to start looking for a new one. Maybe I’ll just go back to Plexamp.

### 1/5 — Not built for scale

*2024-03-27, version 1.1.5*

I had high hopes for Amperfy, it was the cleanest looking subsonic client app I’ve come across on iPhone, but it is completely useless with the size of my library (70-80 TB) Even after background sync reached 100% (which took a couple days), the app is unusable with every tap taking 15+ seconds to respond. Running on newest iPhone and iOS, Navidrome

### 1/5 — Takes an hour to sync with server

*2022-05-20, version 1.0.8*

And even then it only retrieved details on roughly 20 out of a few hundred albums.

### 1/5 — App don’t start then update

*2021-09-03, version 1.0.6*

After update to the last version in IOS 12.51, the app never start , show logo and nothing else.

### 2/5 — edited: WAS the best

*2026-04-22, version 2.1.0*

while i loved the app before, i think something with the new update broke the app for me. it’s extremely laggy, images will not load even after deleting all and redownloading all, duplicate album issues, to name a few. plus, worst of all and the thing to make me switch to another app; my phone has gotten VERY hot and the battery drains very quickly. restarting my phone seems to fix it, but i realized after looking at my battery log, it’s amperfy. while only being on screen for 1m and in background for 1h, it used 2x more battery than the apps i had open on screen for 1h. seriously what is happening? for now im switching to a new client until these issues are fixed im not trying to be harsh, just venting my issues!
** original review: finally made the switch to hosting my own music library using navidrome. of the few apps i tried, i like this one the most by far. there are a few minor bugs here and there, but i don’t have to pay for a service anymore which is amazing. i also love the new update with the theme colors. **

### 2/5 — New bugs

*2025-07-23*

No longer connects to my server via duckdns, will only give a message saying that the certificate may be fake. Other apps still connect to the same server.

Great app, but latest update has bugs when scrubbing through songs. It will skip multiple songs forward or backward rather than scrubbing within the playing song.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great but needs to fix visual bug in carplay

*2026-08-31, version 2.1.1*

I say “hey siri play music in amperfy”
It starts the music in shuffle mode like I wanted but the shuffle button seems to be not active

### 5/5 — Simply the best

*2026-08-19, version 2.1.1*

Hands off the best Airsonic client I’ve seen. Feature reach and simply beautiful all settings make sense and discoverable. Can’t recommend enough. Huge thanks for making it!

### 5/5 — Love this

*2026-07-27, version 2.1.0*

Great app. Just one bug I encountered: sometimes changing playback speed (especially to a lower speed than currently on) will garble audio and require an app reset. Occurs randomly and very rarely

### 5/5 — Great App!

*2026-07-25, version 2.1.0*

I recently installed Jellyfin and then tried out the official app and Finamp. Both failed to work properly on my phone, with Finamp taking 10 seconds to open an album, and neither offered the ability to browse by folder. This app, combined with Navidrome, is so far working brilliantly! It’s incredibly responsive, highly customisable and does everything I need it to. Thank you!

### 5/5 — Bin begeistert

*2026-07-12*

### 5/5 — Most Functional Player

*2026-06-30, version 2.1.0*

There are a lot of useful features that are mostly not available in other players with Subsonic API connection. I would like to note separately native iOS features are most commonly used in this app. However, many more visual improvements should be made for the "wow" effect of everyone who downloads this application. For example, gesture control on the audio playback panel on the main panel is extremely lacking (up - open, left/right - track switching) and other small things that would improve the user experience. I wish good luck to the developer and hope for the active development of the player! I will keep an eye on updates and try to give feedback.

### 5/5 — Perfect.

*2026-06-22, version 2.1.0*

Everything i’m looking for in a music player. The ui stutters quite a bit both on mobile and carplay, but other than that, I love it!

### 5/5 — Great work

*2026-05-28, version 2.1.0*

Thanks for your work on this! I particularly like having a client that works well on MacOS and iOS
