I bought tons of content in their other app Lick of the Day. I bought a new phone and iPad and they won’t let me install it on my new devices because I reached “device limit”. Sold my previous devices. When I try to contact support via the app or through their website they never respond. Been trying for 6 months. I’m sure they are happy to take the money and run. Do yourself a favor and find another product from a more reputable developer. ### 1/5 — Not happy. *2020-03-30, version 2.3* I had purchased every pack (the big everything bundle) ages ago (like maybe five iPhones back) and was supposed to get every new piece of kit included. I couldn’t find any ‘restore previous purchases’ button so clicked on the bundle to install it as AppStore gives message saying ‘you have previously paid for this and will be downloaded for free’ normally and then downloads your items, but it didn’t. It just changed another £40 nearly four what I had already had in the past. Why is there no restore feature in the settings? Makes no sense. Not happy ### 2/5 — Dead App? *2020-02-14* I was an early adopter of this app back when it was Peavey’s ampkit. Overall, this is a nice app with lots of versatility. I own ALL the upgrades and have used this extensively. However, it seems like Agile is letting this die on the vine. No updates to the app in two years. No new amp or effects models. No response to basic questions from their support website. I have to conclude they’ve decided they can’t compete with IK or Positive Grid (two good options). ### 4/5 — Can’t restore in-app purchases after restoring iPhone *2020-02-06, version 2.3* I recently had to restore my iPhone and after I did I lost the $39.99 in-app upgrade bundle with all the amps and effects. I submitted a couple of support requests but got no answer....so I’m dead in the water as the app is useless to me without all the amps and effects. The app wants me to pay another $39.99 to get the bundle which isn’t right! Update, I was able to fix after reading a solution on one of the other reviews, so I upgraded to 4*s. Would have been 5 if the developer had responded and helped me ### 1/5 — They knowingly have two versions on the App Store causing Restore Purchases chaos *2019-08-07, version 2.3* People are trying to restore a version that they haven’t purchased. The two apps are similarly named, so it’s easy to download the wrong one, and then mistakenly end up upgrading that version for another 34.99. I previously paid for ALL available and future items. I feel ripped off, to say the least!!! DO NOT BUY THIS APP UNTIL THIS IS RESOLVED!!! UPDATE: I contacted SUPPORT, and they responded with the solution. Though not at all obvious, their solution worked, and ALL PURCHASES WERE RESTORED!!! If you are having this same problem as I had, contact SUPPORT online directly, as I did, for the solution. SUPPORT promised to fix the RESTORE procedure in their next update. They called the current problem “a bug”. Considering that it has been a year since the last update, I consider the current RESTORE “bug” a major support flaw. I updated my rating from one star to three stars today, but will not give this App five stars until the UI is updated with an OBVIOUS FUNCTIONAL RESTORE BUTTON. It’s a matter of loyalty and respect for the customer, and it’s about doing good business. My best regards. ### 1/5 — CAN’T RESTORE PURCHASES *2019-01-30* I paid for everything to be unlocked but after getting a new phone it will not let me restore the amps and pedals I bought. Total scam. ### 4/5 — No Restore Purchase *2019-01-09* Have iPhone XS. No option to restore purchases. Had everything unlocked and now only bare essentials available. Needs a quick fix please. Update: seems the fix is on the bottom of the gear page as you slide it all the way up, you have to tap at the bottom of the screen in a very thinly sliver of grey. Purchases are now restored. Review back up to 4 Stars. This app is still great. I’d like to see an update sometime soon though. ### 1/5 — No option Restore in-app purchases.. *2018-12-18* This was my favorite app to play guitar. I liked it so much that I spent $50 to buy all Amps & FX. I was excited to use this app on my new iPhone X. I was quickly let down when I found that there was no way to restore my purchases on my iPhone X. If they fix this issue, I will fix my rating. Avoid this app until the developer decides to do an update. In its current state you will be ripped off! ### 1/5 — Already purchased effects *2018-10-01, version 2.3* I had already purchased all effects and amps. The restore license button is gone. I was advised to use the little white bar st the bottom under purchased. It does not work and I was then advised to waite for a next update. This app has been there for a long time, updates at this point to restore my purchases is not a solution. Ps: after reinstalling other guitar effects apps, I was prompted to restore my purchases upfront no fuss. So I moved on to use the other apps, just as good. Disappointed ### 2/5 — 2 stars *2018-06-13, version 2.3* Restore purchases button is hidden at the very bottom of the gear store, basically impossible to see. ### 1/5 — No option to restore purchases *2018-02-18, version 2.3* This feature has suddenly disappeared and the agile support crew don’t answer. I unlocked all amps and have been a loyal user for many years and now all my amps and pedals are gone with no option to restore. Emailing support has been futile. With vague answers referencing past app versions. I’ll be seeking a refund and letting Apple know how misleading and slow to respond the app developers are. This was the best app. Now it just steals money. Don’t buy This!!! ### 1/5 — No IAA or Audiobus throughput *2025-01-12* IAA in an effects slot stopped working suddenly on my iPad 2 over decade ago. Never worked on the Pro 9.7 and still doesn’t on new Air M2. Audiobus neither. I CAN upload an audio file into the app, process it and export back out, so that is something. I assume direct input will work, but it doesn’t show up as a generator so there are no live recording possibilities into any other app. The amps and effects are pretty good, but not enough to warrant more than one star considering the many better functioning alternatives. Seriously, it is questionable this is still for sale. I think I dealt with support years ago to work out restore on another iPad, but the migration process to the Air M2 installed it with all purchases intact, just noting for what it’s worth to somebody. ### 1/5 — DOA *2025-01-04* Is this app still even supported? In-app purchases are still live, but the last posted update is from 7 years ago. Just got a new iPad and can’t restore my purchases. Only option is to repurchase a bundle again. Guess it’s time to switch to an app that’s actually kept relevant. ### 1/5 — iOS 16.5.1, iOS 16.6 Feedback and distortion *2023-07-29* On my one device that has iOS 16.5 I have no issues with the app, but on my other iOS 16.5.1 and iOS 16.6 devices the audio comes out with this digital distorted with some feedback sometimes. It's also affecting bias amp 2 so I assume it just needs an update since the latest OS version broke something on these apps. ### 1/5 — Lost all my purchases *2023-01-31, version 2.3* Honestly I love this app used it allot a while back then I stop (long story) but just recently I got a new bass and no amp so I downloaded the app again and tried to restore purchases but nothing.. same Apple account and all.. this sucks ### 1/5 — AmpKit Pushed Their Paying Customers Off a Cliff *2023-01-13* They apparently sold to a TAB company and they tied the app to their tablature business. Always know that this can happen with any app. Another common practice is to claw back features and sell them back to you. Not to mention the new “RENTAL” craze. “You will own nothing and be happy.” “A steering wheel? You want a steering wheel? That’s another hundred dollars a month.” I bought the whole package what feels like a decade ago. It was the best sounding app at the time. Now? Abandonware. ### 1/5 — Stopped Working *2022-10-21* Used this for years with my iRig interface, spent a bunch of money on all of the add-ons, and it quit working. Irig works fine with Garage Band and Amplitube, but not Ampkit. Used to be good, be don’t buy this until they bring it up to date. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Great Clean Amp Sound *2024-12-18, version 2.3* Too many virtual amps sell themselves on their overdriven and distorted tones, but are let down by weak and raspy clean tones. However, this baby really delivers some beautiful, full-bodied clean amp tones as well as the other overdriven stuff. In particular, I could play my Gibson through the emulation of the Peavey Valve King on its clean setting all day. It is the next best thing to plugging it into a nice clean real Fender valve amp. There are some other interesting items, like the Fender Acoustasonic. It would be nice if there were more reverb and tape echo emulations (Roland Space Echo) with more controls on them. Perhaps an emulation of an Orange and Ampeg guitar amp would be nice. ### 5/5 — Still the most accessible guitar amp app for users of VoiceOver screen reader *2020-01-29, version 2.3* I recently attempted restoring my prior purchases for this app and, like many, was originally disappointed. However, within a few days I received a response with a restoration code. Perhaps I was lucky but nevertheless! One amazing thing that goes for AmpKit is that, until today, is one of the most accessible guitar apps for users of VoiceOver screen reader. Several days after contacting the developer, a new version was released and it's fixed. ... ... Old comments, that can be ignored: I "unlocked everything" with an in-app purchase on my iPad. *My account was charged the amount stated in the offer.* I deleted the app, the re-loaded. When I click "Restore Purchases" an error pops-up: "Purchase Failed The operation couldn't be completed (SKErrorDomain error-2005.)" Nothing was unlocked. There's no response from numerous queries to Agile Partners Support now for days. I even tried purchasing it again. The second transaction shows up, though forutnately as $0.00. The app works on my iPhone and I had years ago unlocked everything on it. As far as I know that one still works. I hoped to get a bass amp on my iPad. I can only give it one star. If Agile Partners fixes this, I'll change this review. If they even respond, I'll update this review. Help! ### 5/5 — Delete and then reinstall *2016-05-08, version 2.2.5* Flyinjack, I hear your problem. Just delete your Ampkit app (also make sure which version yours is, Ampkit +, or just Ampkit), then reinstall...afterwards all you have to do after signing into iTunes to reinstall, is go to my gear and there then you will see "my purchases", and down below, "restore purchases"....voila!
