## What is Ampz?

Two ways to play. Run Ampz on its own for instant, ultra-low-latency amp tone — no DAW required — or drop it in as an AUv3 effect plug-in inside AUM, GarageBand, and other Audio Unit hosts to record and mix through your rig. Ampz brings Neural Amp Modeling to iOS with no compromises. Built on a custom C++ inference engine, Ampz runs .nam models natively with sub-2.5ms total roundtrip latency.

KEY FEATURES

  • Native NAM Processing — Runs WaveNet and LSTM .nam models at full fidelity using a C++ inference engine optimized for Apple silicon
  • Ultra-Low Latency — 64-sample buffers at 48kHz through Core Audio. Under 2.5ms total roundtrip
  • 10-Slot Effects Chain — Reverb, delay, chorus, compressor, EQ, noise gate, IR loader, and more
  • 100-Slot Preset System — 10 factory presets plus 90 user slots
  • Tone3000 Integration — Browse, search, and download NAM models and IRs directly in the app
  • IR Loader — Load third-party impulse responses for cabinet simulation
  • Chromatic Tuner — Built-in, always accessible

### 5/5 — Great App, but

*2026-07-25*

it would be nice if the app itself could host AUv3 units too. 100 Presets is great, looper and drum machine are perfect additions for standalone use. Wow and manual!!

**Developer response:** Thanks! Glad the presets, looper, and drum machine are working well for your standalone rig, and that the manual landed too.

Turning Ampz into a host that loads other AUv3 units is something we're thinking about, though I can't promise it yet. For now it works the other way around: Ampz is itself an AUv3 effect you can load into a host like AUM or Loopy Pro alongside your other units. Thanks for the great suggestion and the kind words.

### 5/5 — Superb

*2026-07-21*

What a brilliantly conceived and designed application. A real pleasure to use, and I’m bowled over by the realism of neural amp modelling (which is new to me).

The functionality, MIDI in particular, seems to offer everything needed for live performance. Just two caveats on this from my side. First, is it stable enough? I hope so but I’ve not yet used it anything like enough to know the answer to this. Second, I’m running it on an iPad mini, which seems like a good platform for live work. But the Ampz Live view doesn’t yet use all the available screen space to best effect, with things that could be big and bold appearing too small for my own preference. But this alone wouldn’t stop it from being workable.

The app is new so I’m sure that the dev team will work this through. They’ve done a fantastic job!

**Developer response:** We're really glad the amp modeling and the MIDI feature set are clicking for live use, since that's exactly what we built it for.On your two points: stability is our top priority, and every release goes through on-device testing before it ships. If you ever hit anything unexpected, please reach out so we can look into it directly.

On the iPad mini layout, a recent update (1.5.0) specifically reworked the iPad Live view to use the full screen: the controls scale up, the knob grid spreads out and grows larger, and text and the toolbar are sized up for tablet. Make sure you're on the latest version and let us know how it feels on the mini. Thanks again for taking the time to review and for downloading.

### 5/5 — Amazing!

*2026-06-21*

Wow! I just bought the tonex one plus pedal and this….Ampz is 10xs better….I messed around three and a half hours with Tonex with software and still couldn’t get it to work. I said I’m done! I saw this advertised and bought it the same day. The effects are really decent and the integration of tone3000 is sooooooo simple!

**Developer response:** Thank you, this means a lot! I'm glad Ampz got you playing instead of troubleshooting. Also happy the Tone3000 integration and the effects are working for you.

There's an iPad-optimized update out now, and more on the way. If you ever hit a snag or have a request, reach out. I read everything.

(And nice username JMP 2203. 🤘)

### 5/5 — AUv3 hits the spot

*2026-06-19*

What a great plugin. It sounds great as a AUV3 in Loopy Pro while saving about 15% of CPU power on my iPad compared to my other NAM plugin. The built in effects and IR loader will prove very useful. Thank you !

**Developer response:** Thanks so much for taking the app to band practice! I'm thrilled to hear the sound and Live Mode are hitting the mark for you. I have some great news regarding Loopy Pro: we just released v1 of our AUv3 support! Make sure you update to the latest version, and you'll be able to load it right up. We are actively refining the AUv3 experience, so stay tuned for even more improvements there. I also really appreciate you flagging the audio pop when engaging the delay on your M1 iPad. I'm looking into this bug right now so we can get it smoothed out in an upcoming patch. Have a great time gigging this summer, and feel free to reach out to jonathan@ampz.app anytime!

### 5/5 — Excellent app

*2026-06-09*

The exact NAM loader I was looking for! Supports a2, integration with website to download tones straight from app and quality of life features like bread and butter fx mean I can do everything in the app for quick jams

**Developer response:** Thanks so much for the fantastic review! It is incredibly rewarding to hear it's hitting the mark for you. Making it seamless to grab tones and immediately dial them in with included FX was a huge priority. Keep an eye out for more updates, and happy jamming!

### 3/5 — Intuitive, but could use some work

*2026-06-05*

Sounds very shrill on most presets without using an EQ to cut it down. Easy to download new NAM profiles. Doesn’t sound as good as using a pc. At least it supports the latest 2.0 profiles. If it sounded better and the control knobs weren’t clunky (could be larger on iPad) I’d love to use this in a live setting.

**Developer response:** Hi there, thank you for the feedback! We are actively working on an iPad UI update to better utilize the larger screen sizes. Regarding the shrill tone you mentioned, this is likely caused by digital clipping where the hardware input and the app's gain staging are pushing the model too hard. To solve this, our next update will introduce input/output metering and an automatic input calibration feature to help match your hardware to the model’s sweet spot. If you'd like help troubleshooting your signal chain in the meantime, please reach out to me directly at jonathan@ampz.app. I'm also putting together some new demo videos for the community soon!

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.6.1 — 2026-08-23

Two fixes for impulse responses.

FIXED: In dual IR mode, where the left and right channels each load their own cabinet, the right-hand cab was lost when switching presets. Both cabs are now saved and restored.
FIXED: In the AUv3 plugin, loading one of your Ampz presets and then saving the project in your host left the cabinets out of the saved project. They now save and reload with the rest of the rig.

### 1.6.0 — 2026-08-22

Share your rig, and full support for multi-channel audio interfaces.

NEW: Share a rig. Send a complete rig to a bandmate or your other device as a single file. The amp model and cabinet IR travel with the preset, so it loads ready to play. Share from the preset browser, and open shared rigs straight from Files, AirDrop or Mail.

NEW: Choose your interface. If you have more than one audio device connected, pick the one you want. Ampz remembers your choice. Multi-channel interfaces now expose every input and output, so you can run into channel 3 (or 18) instead of being stuck on 1 and 2.

FIXED: Impulse responses no longer reset to "No IR" when you switch presets.
FIXED: Effect knobs no longer get cut off at the bottom on smaller iPhones.
FIXED: Plugin parameter mapping now works in external hosts

### 1.5.1 — 2026-08-05

This update fixes the drum loop volume slider, which would not respond to dragging on some devices. You can now adjust the drum volume freely.

### 1.5.0 — 2026-08-03

AUv3 Plugin — full multi-amp rigs
- Load a different NAM model in any effect slot inside AUM, Loopy Pro, GarageBand, and other hosts — same multi-amp engine as the standalone app
- Browse and load your app presets right from the plugin, with the loaded preset name and prev/next arrows in the header
- New plugin instances automatically pick up the preset you were last using in the app
- Stability fixes for preset recall and session restore in hosts

VoiceOver
- Complete VoiceOver support across the app and plugin: every knob, EQ fader, pedal, and control is labeled — knobs and faders are adjustable with swipe up/down, and chain pedals announce their state with bypass and reorder actions

iPad
- Redesigned for large screens: bigger knobs, pedals, toolbar, and touch targets, with text proportionally larger throughout
- The knob grid now uses the full height of the panel, and the looper, drum machine, tuner, and live-performance views scale to the display
- Improved portrait layout with the Library sidebar open

Tone3000 & importing
- Downloaded models are now tagged by gear type, with new filter chips in the model browser (existing downloads are tagged automatically)
- Paste a tone3000.com link to jump straight to that tone
- Open .nam files in Ampz directly from the Files app or any share sheet

Effects & fixes
- Envelope auto-wah now sweeps properly in envelope mode
- Analog Octave: the sub-octave voice is audible again and octave-up level is matched
- Ampz now reopens with your last-used preset, without an audio glitch at launch

### 1.4.1 — 2026-07-22

AMPZ 1.4.1

• Tuner — stronger detection: locks onto quiet signals and low strings
• Tuner — rock-steady needle: smoothing, and octave/flicker rejection for fast, stable tuning.
• Cleaner pitch shifting: reduced high-end artifacts on the Poly Shifter.
