### 3/5 — Notification banner issue

*2026-01-17, version 7.0.10*

The app works ok except for one little annoying feature. Alert is a pleasant tone and way better than a classic pager beeping noise. The Lock Screen notification doesn’t clear, even after deleting a message/page. The Lock Screen banner also cannot be deleted at will. It just remains there long after 👎 Please fix this

### 2/5 — No link to Doximity dialer

*2024-05-23, version 7.0.3*

How does this not have basic capabilities like ability to export the number to a dialer app like Doximity to shield my number???

### 1/5 — Terrible app

*2024-03-10, version 7.0.01*

After the update a few months ago, the app constantly glitches whenever you go back to your main messages. The user interface is much improved, but the functionality has decreased significantly. Please fix it.

### 1/5 — Broken by update

*2024-01-18, version 7.0.01*

Recent update that included UI overhaul broke the app. Months of autocorrect going haywire and having to fully close app after every use because it never reloads from background. Please fix.

### 1/5 — Horrible app and customer service

*2024-01-08, version 7.0.0*

This “on-call” software doesn’t have customer support on the weekend , this is unacceptable given that I’m receiving patient calls on the weekend and have no way of accessing them through the app and have no customer support to rectify the issue. The website password reset and support contact goes to a broken link. Go with a different platform

### 2/5 — Recent update, causing problems

*2024-01-06, version 7.0.0*

The recent app update no longer allows the copying of a phone number. This is led to me in advertently calling patients directly from my own phone number, without using proper masking. This exposes my personal contact information. Now I need a pad and paper to write the number down and re-enter into Doximity to make the phone call. Pain in the butt and unnecessary.

### 2/5 — Buggy

*2023-12-17, version 7.0.0*

Does not open on Apple Watch. Very glitchy typing experience, will duplicate words when you try typing.

### 1/5 — Needs bug fixes asap

*2023-12-14, version 7.0.0*

Developers recently made cosmetic update but now app takes longer to load and I cannot get back to full inbox from a message chain without app glitching and having to close and reopen app. App tries to auto-predict while typing which adds in letters and words which could easily cause message to be incomprehensible, or worse, convey the wrong message and cause patient harm.

### 1/5 — Can’t copy phone numbers?

*2023-12-01, version 7.0.0*

With the update I can no longer copy the phone number from a message to call using Doximity. Please bring this back!

### 1/5 — Crappy (very) App

*2023-11-29, version 7.0.0*

Faculty & trainees all wanted the hospital to get rid of this app for paging. Unfortunately we are stuck with this crap, must be designed by some very incompetent people. After the recent “upgrade” remains crappy as ever. There is a bubble showing I’ve one unread message but there is no message. Deleting and reinstalling doesn’t solve this problem. One example for the level of dysfunction of this crappy app.

### 2/5 — Functionality removed

*2023-11-22, version 7.0.0*

Devs appeared to have made cosmetic improvements but removed useful functionality. For example, you can no longer copy the phone number out of a message. There is only an option to dial the number directly with your phone.

### 1/5 — Awful

*2023-11-15, version 7.0.0*

The interface is poorly designed. It’s painful to use this app and the only reason I do is because I’m required to. It’s clunky and tedious to open the app and do anything. The app was recently updated and it’s much worse. It’s like a high school PowerPoint— everything is moving now when you open a page and it’s unnecessary. It takes longer to do anything and there are extra unnecessary screens/steps to forward a message.

### 3/5 — Easy Fixes Could Be Better

*2023-07-04, version 6.8.2*

Would be nice to be able to open message and swipe to next open message instead of closing and going back into the full inbox. Also would be nice if you closed out a message and didn’t get sent to the beginning of the inbox and have to scroll all the way back down.

Just make it like Outlook email or Gmail interface.

### 1/5 — Worst messaging app

*2021-08-19, version 6.7.1*

It crashes a couple times a day, seizures like 20 times before opening the message, then doesn’t always open it with the message thread so you have to go back out and reopen, drains my battery, takes over a minute to open messages, gives me some error message that I didn’t choose a deliverable contact EVEN though I used the address book so I end up having to rewrite message repeatedly. Not sure if it’s better on the newest iPhone but I easily waste at least 30-60m a day trying to get to a message, reply or send for what should take me 5-10 minutes. Rarely does it work smoothly, maybe once or twice in the last 4 weeks.

### 1/5 — Horrible

*2021-05-31, version 6.7.1*

Our answering service was bought out and this is the new app. It is difficult to use, hard to organize, and inconvenient. The last app we used was much more user friendly, required fewer clicks to get things done etc. all the messages look the same, so if you have several, you are digging through to find the one you want. If you have any other option, take it!

### 1/5 — Clunky and a pain to use

*2020-12-19, version 6.7.1*

What a pain every time I have to open this app. You have to use the short passcode to log in every time. They don’t even give you the numeric keypad, so you have to toggle the keyboard to number first. No Touch ID. I’m trying to get my organization use an alternative, because there are better products out there.

### 1/5 — Buggy

*2020-12-01, version 6.7.1*

To start with it randomly crashes about once a day at least. When it doesn’t crash it takes forever to open. Sometimes it will just have a seizure when refreshing and cycle for a few minutes. When it does open/refresh sometimes the message you send just doesn’t go through. When it does go through the alert is pretty quiet and sometimes nobody notices that a message came through.

If you are looking to adopt this as your secure messaging option, maybe consider not.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Who cares about security and HIPPA

*2026-06-15, version 7.0.11*

Password and passcode? What’s the difference? Why both? Just let me in so I can do my miserable job and call the worried well.

### 1/5 — Terrible app

*2026-05-06, version 7.0.11*

Apparently, I cannot give a zero star review. I am a doctor and my Answering service uses this app. It is terrible! I do not recommend it. I have missed multiple pages at night because the app frequently does not make sounds when pages are received.

### 1/5 — Villain Arc

*2026-03-14, version 7.0.11*

If you are looking to begin your villain arc, look no further. Imagine sleeping peacefully and being woken up by not one, or two, or three, or four, but five simultaneous pages for the same event over the course of 15 seconds. I have absolutely no idea how they managed to code such inefficiency, but that is pretty remarkable in itself. The OG Spōk paging never had this issue so perhaps the developers could reach out to them for a fix.

### 1/5 — Joke

*2026-02-20, version 7.0.11*

Literally the most useless app for any healthcare system to use. Constantly crashes and compromises patient care. C’mon hospital admin you can do better

### 1/5 — No Stars.

*2026-01-10, version 7.0.10*

Horrible application with unreliable performance and excessive bugs. I would not recommend to
any health system for urgent applications.

### 1/5 — Avoid

*2024-12-14, version 7.0.5*

Why anybody want an App like this which is slow and you CANNOT forward more than one message at a time? Do better!!!!

### 1/5 — Pick me if you like slow

*2024-11-22*

We are a large group, 70+ physicians — whichever nutbag in my practice trialed and approved this App should be suspended. Impossibly slow, can’t forward more than one message at time so need to spend 20 mins just sending people the consults that came in over night. If you still play Atari then you will feel right at home

### 1/5 — Absolutely terrible

*2024-09-24, version 7.0.4*

Shows me numbers instead of pictures. Crashes 100 times a day. Last update was two months ago. Will not work with iOS 18 just a horrible design in general and we use this app for medical information!!!!

### 1/5 — Worst pager ever

*2024-06-11, version 7.0.3*

Please do not consider this messenger. It hardly ever works, constantly has problems.

### 1/5 — Worst paging platform ever

*2024-04-16, version 7.0.3*

Save your money. This platform is unreliable. It’s only for institutions that don’t realize that they lose money when patient care is adversely affected despite the money savings of purchasing this paging platform over others.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Messaging app

*2026-06-17, version 7.0.11*

Simple, easy to use.

### 5/5 — The app works well.

*2025-03-21, version 7.0.7*

They have a good support team.

### 5/5 — Let’s me be in control of my messages

*2021-09-04, version 6.7.1*

Works good. I like being able to see my on call schedule and messages in the same app. Keeps my messages secure and I can respond to my answering service without calling in.

### 5/5 — Great App

*2018-11-17, version 4.1.9*

We have been using the app in our hospital for over 4 years. Very easy set up and reliable is a great app. AMTELCO continues to improve the app every year.

### 5/5 — Manager

*2016-11-16, version 4.1.3*

Excellent application. Meets HIPAA compliance requirements while also meeting physician workflow needs. Provides read receipts, date and time stamp, and also a means to send attachments. Easy to use! Amtelco keeps the application current with driving technologies and user needs.

### 5/5 — Keeps our business HIPAA compliant

*2016-06-21, version 4.1.3*

Excellent app that keeps our Answering Service business HIPAA complaint along with our clients.
Fast transmission of messages with documented date and time read receipts.
Amtelco is excellent with support.

### 5/5 — Great App

*2015-11-13, version 4.1.1*

The use of this app paired with the web use has made such an impact on our staff. The response time is great. The response times to patient care has greatly improved. A+ and highly recommended. Keep up the great work!

### 5/5 — Reliable, fast and secure

*2014-09-10, version 4.0.6*

The new release is fantastic. I love the On/Off updates and incredible speed even with added security measures. Thank you.

### 4/5 — Great

*2018-03-12, version 4.1.8*

Works as intended. It is HIPAA compliant so if you don’t want to have to open the app to read the message this is not for you.
Giving it 4 stars because it is missing the auto-reply feature which is desperately needed.

### 4/5 — Excellent Tech Support

*2014-10-05*

I have been using this app for a few weeks as it is supported by my answering service so they can send me HIPPA compliant messages. I recently moved up to an iPhone 6, but the app would save the license. I was able to get tech support today, a Sunday, to fix the problem. If you need secure messaging, get this app.
