ANAGRAMS
Try moonstarer to find astronomer, also finds smaller words such as resonator and tearooms.

CR.SSW.RDS
Use . to represent an unknown letter, try c....w... to find clockwork and crossword

CROSSWORD PHRASES
Search over 100K built-in phrases, try m.... ... ...... to find motte and bailey, miles per gallon and milky way galaxy

WORDLE
Green letters use the crossword search, eg ..e.t
Grey letters, add them to the Excludes Letters filter
Yellow letters, add them to the Contains Letters filter

SPELLING BEE
Spelling Bee puzzles are where you only use the letters provided but as many times as you like.  Try $qntuaei to find: quinquina, aquanaut and queenie

BLANK LETTERS
Use + to represent blank letters, enter scrabb++ to find crabbers and scrabble.

DEFINITIONS
Press the info icon next to a word to view it's definition, example usages and synonyms. You can click on the synonyms for further info and hear the word by pressing the speak button. 
Note, if no definition is found the app will search the web for a definition.

CODEWORDS & CRYPTOGRAMS
Try ..112332 to find cassette and pallette, use the filters to exclude letters you already have found.

WORD LISTS
Español, Français, Português, Deutsch and Italiano word lists can be selected in the app's settings. Try out the Game Acceptable word list that only returns common words suitable for most games.

### 4/5 — Mixed feelings

Prior to the latest update if I closed the app after use then the next time I opened it the search field would be clear. Now, even if I clear the search field before closing the app, it reverts to the previous search when next opened. 
I find this rather odd. 
Otherwise a very useful resource.

Update. Thank you Mark Bailey for your response. Having adjusted my settings I am now much happier with this app. 
If it were possible I would now give it the fifth star.

**Developer response:** Thanks for the feedback, an oft requested feature was for the app to remember prior searches and filters. You can disable these new features in the Settings, turn the search history off to stop the last search being entered when you reopen the app. You can also automatically clear the filters.

Used to be much better.  So many ‘words’ now are not found in the dictionary and simply combinations of letters - pointless

The recent updates have enabled the filters to remain intact when changing letter patterns. This is a really helpful functional improvement. Every known global spelling variations seem to be present too. 
The best just got better - 42/42

This has been my go to app for my word games when I’m stumped. It never seems to fail me. The developer is very responsive to questions and suggestions. I emailed him one day about a concern and the following day there was a new update to address it. Can’t beat that.

I could previously breeze through most crosswords using this app. Now the search for Word using the dot to substitute letter does not seem to work as effectively. However, I do appreciate certain updates like the ability to view history. 

Marc has now explained to me how the app works just dots. I do believe this app to be the best Crossword aid on the market and I have reevaluated it to a five star rating.

**Developer response:** Thanks for the constructive feedback and highlighting this issue. For other users reading this, please go to settings and turn off the Allow Dictation setting, this is causing ... to be converted into an ellipsis which the app ignores. A new update will be coming shortly that addresses this issue.

Why fix what wasn’t broken 🙁 ? I love this app and have used it for a long time. It was so easy to use. Too many things in the filter now and it doesn’t clear automatically anymore ! 😢

**Developer response:** Apologies for the inconvenience, an update will be available shortly. In the update I've added a new setting 'Clear filters' to automatically clear filters like it did previously. I also fixed a nasty bug in the crossword solver where three dots were being converted to an ellipsis, you can work around this by going to settings and selecting convert . to ?

I discovered this app several years ago and it has relieved me of all the frustration of not being able to finish all the word games and puzzles I play.  I have always had short term memory problems, but this app has helped me improve my memory
