### 3/5 — New version with while development process

*2026-03-12*

This new version is a conplete developing timer now. Large database of film/developer combinations. Own receipts can be saved for later usage and can be tagged as favourites. Excellent tool!

**Developer response:** Thanks so much for the kind words—we’re really glad you’re enjoying the new timer workflow and film/dev database!

If you feel the app deserves it, we’d really appreciate an updated rating as well—it helps a lot 🙏

### 3/5 — Nie tego się spodziewałem

*2025-03-01, version 2.3*

### 3/5 — Go back please

*2024-12-10*

I love this app and it’s versatility.

The new version doesn’t increase its value, decreases.

The app lets the screen block and don’t play bips while in secondary usage anymore.
You can’t adjust nor create your own dev times.
Harder and slower to setup overall.

Please go back to the old functionality, they weren’t the best looking but solved the problem flawlessly, the new one create problems.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your using FilmDeveloperPro! We re-designed the app from the ground up and will be adding the missing features step by step. We appreciate your feedback.

### 3/5 — Please return the ability to edit dev time

*2024-03-03*

The new UI is nice but some features of the previous version are sadly gone, like the ability to customize the dev time to our liking. If it is still there I couldn’t find it.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback. We are currently working on bringing back the full feature set of the previous version. Thanks again for using our app and your support.

### 3/5 — Zła aktualizacja

*2024-02-17, version 2.1*

Błagam was poprawcie możliwość zablokowania wywoływacza.

### 3/5 — Erst einmal gut…

*2023-10-21*

Leider finde ich bei 135 kein Kodak Gold 200.

**Developer response:** Danke fürs Feedback! Kodak Gold 200 wird ab Version 2.0 unterstützt.

### 3/5 — Exactly the title and nothing more

*2018-09-05*

This app is for exactly what the title says and nothing more... it’s only a timer for the developer part of film processing, it will find a time for you the most films and most developers but it is not a full development process timer it will not stop and change to the next process which is the stop bath. It’s pretty good but some of the icons used are not really explained, you kind of have to tested out to see which icon means what... for example there is one icon that supposed to be represent a push poll process how much do you want to push your development and pull it...it was a test to figure out that’s what the icon was for.

### 2/5 — Needs help.

*2018-08-20*

I’d seen Massive before but bought this one to try.
If you want to put in your film and developer and push start, that won’t be happening.
If you JUST want time for the developer, that can be done fairly quickly.
However, even after adding the other timers (stop, fix, etc) I could never figure out how to start them.
Additionally, I changed screens on my phone to look up the dev time to make sure it was right, and when I came back the timer was now —:— even though it should have had about 4 min left.
I think this one could be good with more work.

### 2/5 — Film Developer Timer Pro

*2017-09-04*

It seems to be a well constructed app, especially the timer. However, I am worried abou tthe accurarcy of the data. For example, to develop Ilford HP5+ in Ilfosol 3 at 20ºC the timer specifies 3mins 15 secs with agitation every 30 seconds. The app says that this is based on data from Ilford. . I checked other sources including Ilford on line and the recommended time is 6 mins 30 secs. This calls into question the accruracy of all of the times.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback. Did you set the film speed and dilution appropriately? For 400 ASA, 1+9 dilution, 20°C and 1 minute agitation the app gives me the same development time of 6:30 for this film/developer combination as in the Ilford data sheets. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions. Just go to the app settings and select "Contact".

### 3/5 — Fortemente richiesta

*2017-05-09, version 1.10*

### 3/5 — Issues with the timers

*2014-06-02*

I downloaded this app so I could develop a roll of HP5+ using Ilfosol and use the app as my guide for the process

Several things jumped at me right away which I would like to bring to your attention:

1) I set a delay of 15 seconds before the start of the process so it would give me time to pour the developer in the tank and start the process. Agitation should start immediately after you pour the developer in. The standard program offered by the app for the combination I mentioned at the beggining sets an agitation timer of 30 seconds. The agitation timer should start immediately after I pour in the developer, NOT after those 30 seconds suggested by the app have elapsed. That is, the agitation timer should start counting immediately after the initial delay timer reaches zero, and not wait for those 30 seconds or 1 min or whatever interval to pass to start counting for the next agitation.

2) My development protocol for the first minute of development has always been: agitate during the first 30 seconds, rest for 20 seconds and then agitate for the final 10 seconds of the first minute ONLY. After that, for every subsequent minute I agitate the final 10 seconds of every minute. So, I should be able to modify the timers to reflect any style of development, not just offer fixed amounts of time that defeat the purpose of custom timers.

So, the scenario would look like this:

a) Initial delay of X seconds (in my case 15)
b) Agitation starts immediately and goes for 30 seconds
c) Stop agitation for 20 seconds
d) Agitate for another 10 seconds.

This is for the first minute only, after that, the scenario for every subsequent minute would be

e) Wait for 50 seconds
f) Agitate for 10 seconds

Repeat steps e and f until the end of the development time.

I tried creating a custom program to reflect this protocol described above but the app adds my timers at the END of its main timer, so what is the use of being able to add custom timers, except for stop bath, fixing, and washing?

Another observation regarding the timers: If I am dropping my film into a washing tank for the final wash which lasts 10 minutes or so, why do I have choose a style of agitation? Just add the ability to choose None so it reflects the reality that the film is not being actively agitated by the user during that time.

The app has an amazing database of recipes, but more thought and consideration should have gone into the different ways the timers could be used when developing film. Fix this by allowing the user to use the recommended program as a starting point and modify it to suit their needs, also improve the way custom timers are managed and you will have a great app.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Nix für Einsteiger

*2025-07-31*

*2024-05-06*

Wird leider anders beworben.
Keine zusätzlichen Uhren möglich.
Also kein ganzer Process.

### 1/5 — Useless

*2022-01-18*

Difficult and confusing. Not user-friendly or intuitive at all. Just save the time and money and get the Massive Developer App, which actually works and is simple and straightforward.

### 1/5 — It doesn't work

*2017-04-08, version 1.10*

😟😟😟😟😟😟😟

### 1/5 — Disappointed

*2016-11-13*

This app was disappointing. So much is missing. A safe light for starters. And then, where is the timer for stop bath and fixed as advertised. I had a much better timer before my phone died. Unfortunately, that timer isn't in Apple apps anymore. One star for an over priced and a
Disappointing app.

### 2/5 — Frustrated

*2025-05-03*

Nice simple looking app but very frustrating when a field isn’t clickable. I’m unable to add the duration timer no matter what I do. And can’t find support anywhere.

**Developer response:** Hi Afigs,

I am sorry to hear that you had a frustrating experience with our app. We just released a new version 2.5 that, besides other improvements, allows you to customise development times and to add your own times for film/developer combinations that are not available.

Thank you for using our app.

### 2/5 — No Gold 120!?

*2024-08-10*

No Kodak Gold 120 and no cross processing? (At least for Ektar). Gold is such an affordable stock for 120 it’s so sad not to have it 😭😭

### 2/5 — Not worth paying for

*2023-01-24*

Have to restart the app every time I change film type or it fails to find developer solution/ gives wildly incorrect info.

### 2/5 — Poorly designed timer

*2020-10-23*

It doesn’t really give you any indication of where you are in the process. The icons are ok once you know what they are, but in general it could use a lot of design work.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Bequem, funktionell und daher unersetzlich

*2026-03-12*

### 5/5 — Film development

*2021-06-21*

I use this App for every B/W development cycle. No problems at all w/ times, dilutions, and temperatures.

### 5/5 — tiny must have for bw self developers

*2020-11-13*

I like it very much and use it very often, all times where right so far even the Caffenol ones...

### 5/5 — Your best friend

*2017-10-15*

Tired of trying too hard? Sweet. There's an app for that.

### 5/5 — Best film development times

*2016-01-09*

Great app. The times I have tested always work great for me. The app compensates well for various temperature, dilution, agitation, ISO (e.g. N+1 etc.). Useful process timer. All I need for developing film.

### 5/5 — Super!

*2014-10-26*

### 5/5 — Great app

*2014-09-07*

Great app, very useful. Would be great if you can setup whole process from developing to rinsing.

### 5/5 — Life Saver

*2014-05-30*

Just when I thought support for b/w film developing had vanished, I came across this app. Has a huge db of film and chemistry cooking times and then holds your hand through development.

### 5/5 — A Perfect App for processing film

*2013-12-07*

A perfect app for processing film if your developing roll film or sheet film and are using or just learning the zone system!

Very glad it has finally came to the iPhone! Thank You it was well worth the money!

### 4/5 — Neue Version

*2024-03-15*
