## What is AnalogDAW?

AnalogDAW is a multitrack recording studio built around the feel of a classic analog console. Record audio and virtual instruments, comp your best takes, and mix through warm, analog-modeled EQ, dynamics, and saturation — then export a mastered mix or stems ready for any platform.

PERFORMANCE-FIRST BY DESIGN
AnalogDAW captures real performances — it doesn't manufacture them. It's the recording workflow behind the classic, timeless records: track a great take, choose your best moments, and mix. By design, it leaves out the features that sand the humanity out of a record. No automatic pitch correction. No timing quantization, time-stretching, or grid that drags your audio into place. And it is not a MIDI sequencer — no piano roll, no step sequencer, no note editing. Virtual instruments are performed live and recorded as audio, exactly like miking an amp, so an instrument take is a real performance, not something to clean up later. The result keeps the human feel — the reason a record sounds alive.

A REAL MIXING CONSOLE
Every track flows through a full analog-style channel strip: preamp with COLOR harmonics, filter, gate, FET/OPTO/TUBE/VCA/BUS compressor models, console EQ, saturation, pan, and fader. Classic console-style EQ voicings, tape-style master saturation, bus compression, and a true-peak limiter give your mix the glue and character of outboard gear — no extra plugins required.

RECORD ANYTHING
Capture up to 32 tracks of audio from your interface at your project's sample rate, or record virtual instruments live by playing a hosted Audio Unit instrument from a MIDI controller or the on-screen keyboard. Loop recording and take comping keep every pass so you can assemble the best moments.

EDIT WITH CONFIDENCE
A clip-based timeline with takes, comping, fades and crossfades, region gain, slip editing, and beat/bar snapping. Multi-selection, channel ganging, and full undo/redo keep big sessions fast and forgiving. Crash recovery, automatic save backups, and missing-asset relinking protect your work.

MIX AND ROUTE LIKE A PRO
8 mix buses, 6 aux sends, 4 cue buses, VCA-style ganging, and a dedicated master chain. Host your favorite Audio Unit (AUv3) effects as inserts. Automatic plugin delay compensation keeps everything phase-aligned. Automation lanes ride levels and parameters over time.

MIX WITH YOUR HANDS
Connect a hardware control surface and run the whole console from real motorized faders and knobs. AnalogDAW supports Mackie Control (MCU) surfaces and simple MIDI controllers mapped with MIDI Learn.

EXPORT THAT MEASURES UP
Bounce a full mix or per-track stems at 44.1, 48, 88.2, or 96 kHz and 16-, 24-, or 32-bit. Every export writes a report with integrated LUFS loudness, true-peak, stereo correlation, sample rate, and bit depth — so you know your master meets spec before you send it.

BUILT FOR macOS and iOS
Self-contained session packages move cleanly across your devices — open, edit, and save through Files.

PRIVACY FIRST
AnalogDAW collects no data and contains no tracking, ads, or accounts. Your audio and sessions stay on your devices and the storage you choose.

### 5/5 — Exceptional & Musician Friendly!

*2026-09-23*

That warm tape saturation sound is evident here. This is a wonderful DAW! The workflow is simplified. The User Interface is well designed & straightforward. Working between iPhone, iPad, and Mac is a breeze with the self-contained session packages, and saving through the iCloud file system. The included mastering chain is excellent for that warm tape saturation sound. My final mastered mixes sound great, and are upload-ready for distribution. Thank you so much for including the “Streaming Loud (-12 LUFS)” as one of the options in the Normalize menu when Exporting. It is much appreciated, and EXTREMELY helpful/useful for my ENTIRE mixing, mastering, and exporting workflow, in order to meet the online music distribution requirements, with EVERY STEP, 100%, being done EXCLUSIVELY in AnalogDAW!!!

My new slogan:

“Making More Music with My Muse: AnalogDAW!”

### 5/5 — Worth it

*2026-09-09*

The preamp/color stage is dope.. That and the 1176-style compressor made it worth every penny.
Came out way bigger and warmer sounding than I had any right to expect from that simple of a chain lol.

**Developer response:** Thank you so much for your wonderful feedback! I am thrilled to hear that you are enjoying the app. Please feel free to reach out if you ever have any questions or suggestions. Have a great day!

## Version history (last 3 releases)

### 1.2 — 2026-10-05

This update includes bug fixes and improvements:

- Take folder waveform generation has been improved
- Take drag-and-drop functionality has been improved
- Clip and take folder resize has been improved
- Fixed issues with playhead positioning when looping

### 1.1 — 2026-10-03

AnalogDAW 1.1 makes big sessions feel light.

• Resizable tracks — drag the bottom edge of a track header to make it taller; double-click to reset. Heights are saved with your session.
• Live pinch zoom — zooming on a trackpad or with two fingers now redraws the grid, clips and waveforms smoothly at every step.
• Instant Edit/Mix switching — each view keeps its scroll position, zoom and selection, however large the session.
• Faster editing and mixing in large sessions — moving a fader or editing a clip no longer redraws every track.
• New editing keys — step through clips and tracks, choose a nudge value, move or trim clips at the playhead, set the loop from a selection, and zoom to fit.
• Ripple Edit now shuffles only the track you edit across delete, cut, paste, repeat, trim and move operations.
• Session opening shows plug-in progress, and frozen-track clips can no longer remain selected for edits.
• Solo follows your routing — route a track into a soloed bus or aux and you hear it immediately.
• Dimmed lanes now show exactly what you can't hear: muted tracks, tracks outside the solo, and tracks routed to a muted bus.
• Virtual instruments keep their kit or preset when your audio interface changes sample rate.
• Export marker lists are in timeline order.
