### 2/5 — Poor anchor alarm

*2021-03-06*

Anchor alarm only sounds once as a notification and waits for acknowledgment. So if you sleep through it won’t sound again. You can’t rely on this app for anchoring.

**Developer response:** Dear Steve,

You can easily change this setting in Sound And Notifications page on the device settings. So it will never stops playing until your action.

### 2/5 — not very reliable

*2020-02-23*

I’ve noticed app freeze sometime ,and you need to restart it.
No need to say you can’t rely on partially working app for that matter ! What I did I get another one more reliable.

**Developer response:** Kindly upgrade the latest version in order to fix the issue. It is related the memory usage of some iPhone devices. It is working now without any issue.

### 2/5 — Not Reliable...but a well planned app

*2020-01-20*

I downloaded this to monitor remotely, it’s one of the only anchor alarm apps that allows real-time tracking via another device. This is a fantastic feature. Unfortunately the app on my iPhone and two other iPhones will freeze. We live aboard our yacht and our anchor position is vital to our safety. This is a secondary anchor alarm to supplement our main chartplotters anchor alarm which is rock solid, however even as a backup, it has to work. Any freezing or crashing is simply unacceptable for something so important. If the developers can get that issue worked out, this will be the best alarm app on the store by miles.

**Developer response:** "Even as a backup, it has to work" is the right standard and we did not meet it for you. The freezes traced back to the map layer and that whole surface has since been rebuilt; crash reporting now watches it release by release. Remote monitoring is also a live channel with push alerts ashore rather than the polling it used to do — if it ever locks up again, support@anchorqueen.com.

### 1/5 — Useless

*2018-09-22*

I set up to alarm. If you have the app open and are looking at the screen, it will give visual messages. I want something that makes noise. If you rely on this, the noise will be your keel on rocks. Would like my money back.

**Developer response:** The app follows device sound level on lock screen. Notification must be enabled in order to get very loud alarm sound.

Kindly go to device Setting-> safe anchor -> Notifications
Then enable sound and all notification.

You will get very loud alarm sound even if your device is locked.

### 3/5 — Manca qualche cosa

*2018-09-02, version 1.6*

### 1/5 — This app does not work!

*2018-07-07*

The sound from the alarm is one volume when you choose it, another when it actually engages. It last all of 4-5 seconds certainly not enough to wake a sailor from a dead sleep. Also when plugged into power and with a clear signal it disengages, turns off. It does not work!

**Developer response:** An alarm that plays for four seconds and then gives up is not an alarm, and you were right to say so. The siren now loops until someone silences it, and the watch keeps running with the screen off and re-arms itself after a restart. If it ever goes quiet on you again, support@anchorqueen.com — we treat that as the most serious bug class we have.

### 3/5 — Beware

*2017-12-30*

The problem with much software is that the builder is so close to it he cannot understand what confuses the user. You won’t understand how this thing works right away. I’ve taken two weeks already and I don’t get it yet.

**Developer response:** Two weeks to understand an anchor alarm is a failure of ours, not yours. The watch is now one screen — drop, set the scope, arm — and there is a full manual inside the app under Settings, offline, with a page per screen. If it still does not click, support@anchorqueen.com will walk it through with you.

### 1/5 — Ruined a good app

*2026-06-27*

This used to be a very good and easy to use anchor alarm app. I had used it for years. Now it’s trying to be an everything marine app and it’s just way too complicated. So very disappointing.

**Developer response:** Fair, and it is the most common thing we hear from captains who came for the anchor alarm: the merge put a chart plotter in front of a tool you used in ten seconds. The watch itself is still one screen — drop, set the scope, arm — the app reopens on the tab you left it on, and you can drag SafeAnchor to the front of the tab bar so it is the first thing under your thumb. If you would give it one more anchorage, support@anchorqueen.com will set it up with you.

### 1/5 — What happened to the old app?

*2026-05-08*

I’ve been using the app for years and loved it. Simple and straight forward and reliable. When I used the app at the end of last season it was great! Went to use it for the first time this year and what happened to it? It Is not even close to the same. In fact I closed it out and looked through my apps to see if had opened a different anchor app. It is now so complicated and does not show your track in your anchor circle so you know where you have been swinging. It no longer has augmented reality which is a feature I loved. It’s not easy to set your anchor radius distance. There is too much “stuff” on the screen and too many different screens now. I could go on and on. Needless to say I am now looking for a new anchor app. Too bad they had to go and ruin it. I hate it!

**Developer response:** You are right on the specifics and I would rather say so than sell you the rebuild. The augmented-reality view did not survive it and is not coming back — that one is a straight loss for you. Two things you looked for are still there, just moved: the swing track draws inside your anchor circle on the anchor monitor, and the radius is a single scope slider rather than a form. Tell support@anchorqueen.com which of the old screens you miss most and it goes on the list — that is worth more to us than the rating.

### 1/5 — You’ve ruined a great app!

*2026-02-23*

What have you done? No more satellite images, lots of complexity nobody needs. You had a great app I have used for years. I want to go back to the old one!

**Developer response:** After the port from SafeAnchor to AnchorQueen for best Captain's Chart experience with Weather Data. We hope you really like our new Charts experience.

### 1/5 — Apple Maps Sucks

*2026-02-23*

New update ruined the app! I have been using the app for years. I used it to set anchor location with Bing Satellite map. Now Apple maps shows me nothing! Time to find a new Anchor App!

**Developer response:** Sorry the update took away the view you anchored with for years — that was the one map change we most worried about. A satellite base map is back among the chart layer options (layers button → base maps), alongside the new nautical charts. If it still doesn't show what you need, email support@anchorqueen.com and we'll make it right.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2025-11-20*

I used to love this app. It used to work really well. Simple and easy to set. Now it’s too complicated and doesn’t go off when it should. I forgot to turn it off when we upped anchor and it took over 1nm before the alarm sounded. So disappointed as I used to trust this alarm.

**Developer response:** Thank you for the honest note — an anchor alarm that does not fire is the one failure we are not allowed to have. Since your review the watch was rebuilt: it double-checks GPS quality before it arms, it needs sustained travel past the ring rather than one stray fix, and it survives a restart. If you wear an Apple Watch it also escalates in stages on the wrist before the phone siren. Give it one more try and support@anchorqueen.com will walk through your setup with you.

### 1/5 — Really impossible to get remote anchor to work properly

*2025-10-04*

It’s hit or miss. I’ve had it work then when I go to another anchorage the remote iPhone won’t reliably get the right data from my iPad on the boat. Just terribly wonky

**Developer response:** You're right that Remote was hit or miss between anchorages — reconnection was the weak point. The remote link has since been rebuilt around a live channel with push alerts ashore, and it's the part of the app we test hardest now. If a new anchorage still drops the link, support@anchorqueen.com reaches the people who built it.

### 1/5 — Great app except

*2020-08-06*

This app is great, but setting the anchor after the fact is so ridiculously unusable that it makes the entire app worthless if you forgot to bring your phone to the bow when dropping the anchor.

**Developer response:** That frustration was fair — dropping anchor and then fighting the app to mark where it actually went defeats the purpose. Setting and adjusting the anchor point after the fact (including from your track) has been reworked since. If the flow still fights you, tell us at support@anchorqueen.com.

### 1/5 — L alarme ne sonne pas c est bidon!!! Arnaque

*2019-08-18*

Arnaque

### 1/5 — Terrifying

*2019-08-05*

I really needed this to work in Lady Musgrave lagoon on the Great Barrier Reef and it did nothing but give false alarms to the point where it kept me awake all night and I ignored it when we did drag. Way worse than useless.

**Developer response:** It uses gps location update of the device and accuracy completely depends on the device model.

### 1/5 — Don’t waste your money

*2019-04-11*

I was looking forward to using this app after reading the reviews but lets give an honest review under practical application. I sail/anchor in Mexico where there is little cellular coverage in remote places. The first night we used it the alarm went off at 2 a.m., after checking my other anchor drag apps we determined we had not moved at all. The next day went to check our position and the app had lost my position all together and I had to set to last position. I used the app for three weeks straight every day and it frequently just lost our position and had to be reset to last position, I had to set the position manually every time, and the use of the app is not intuitive as you would expect it to be. It would be nice to have the app always be on so you could quickly glance at your position and know everything is ok but it goes to sleep and most time just loses you position. This app is frighting enough I would even like my money back and I will not use this in the future.

**Developer response:** Losing the position and asking you to re-set it by hand, three weeks running, is indefensible — and anchoring in Mexico with no cell coverage is exactly the case it had to survive. The watch now keeps its own position log with the screen off, waits for accurate fixes before it arms, and needs no connection to keep watching. If you ever give it another season, support@anchorqueen.com will make sure it is set up right first.

### 5/5 — The Best Captain

*2026-07-18*

I’ve tried my fair share of marine navigation and anchor alarm apps over the years, but AnchorQueen is honestly in a league of its own. What started as an incredibly reliable, no-nonsense anchor watch has quietly grown into a complete, intelligent co-captain for my boat.

**Developer response:** Thank you, Captain. "No-nonsense anchor watch" is the part we guard hardest as the rest of the app grows around it — the watch is meant to stay a ten-second job no matter what else ships. If anything ever gets in the way of that, tell us at support@anchorqueen.com and it goes to the top of the list.

### 5/5 — Mouillage sécurisé

*2022-07-11*

Excellente application indispensable pour éviter de laisser les instruments de bord en marche la nuit.

### 5/5 — Drag alerts

*2021-02-24*

I keep getting drag alerts when clearly the boat has not moved...

**Developer response:** You were right, and the cause was specific: the watch used to lock the anchor from whatever fix it had the second you dropped, so a poor fix at drop time became a phantom drag alert at 02:00. It now waits for several consecutive accurate fixes and averages them before arming, and the alarm wants sustained travel past the ring rather than one noisy sample. If you ever see an alert with the boat sitting still, write support@anchorqueen.com — that log is exactly what we want to see.

### 5/5 — Sonni tranquilli

*2019-07-21, version 1.7*

Finalmente sonni tranquilli con safe anchor

### 5/5 — Safe Anchoring

*2018-08-22*

Easy to use, and particularly good where there is internet as you get satellite imagery showing exact location of yacht and surrounding reefs etc.

### 5/5 — Rahat uyku için...

*2017-12-04, version 1.2*

Kolay kullanımı ve yeni uyarı tonlarıyla tamamlanmış, elinize sağlık

### 5/5 — SimplyTheBest

*2017-04-25, version 1.0*

Accurate results and easy to use. Very useful app. that makes you feel safe when you anchored.
Got quick response from the support team. Thanks..

### 4/5 — New look!

*2025-10-02*

The new look is good. It took me a while to figure out the new anchor set screen and am happy I found the 'set to last position'. Very handy since the app does crash sometimes, but only when you're in it, never when I'm sleeping. Only configuration I haven't found yet is the ability to set units.

### 3/5 — Server - Remote mode

*2024-08-05*

The server does not always connect with remote, frustrating and lowers confidence.

**Developer response:** Fair criticism — confidence is the whole point of a remote watch. The server/remote connection has been reworked since this review, with a live channel and alerts that reach you ashore. If it still wobbles for you, we'd genuinely like the details: support@anchorqueen.com.

### 3/5 — Not accurate enough

*2019-08-25*

Good app idea and easy enough to use but I set the alarm at 30m radius and it kept going off even though we were still in the same place.
Our position was moving in the app purely because of the GPS variations.

**Developer response:** Thanks for the feedback. It is using simple moving average in order to eliminate the error caused by poor GPS signal.
