Every time I open this app I need to re-login. Very frustrating! ### 3/5 — Content is solid, but the app could use some polishing *2026-05-20* The content is always top notch but the app is very buggy. It really needs work. I am constantly logged out and half the time the podcasts will not load. I try refreshing, closing it out and even reinstalling and that doesn’t make a bit of difference. Integration with the desktop AFR website is sorely needed. To be able to save or bookmark from the website and have it saved in the app, be able to have progress on one device be accessed on the other would be great. ### 2/5 — What's the point? *2026-04-04, version 7.1.0* Great idea. Poor execution. First of all, they added a login screen, which is nice because it allows you to save your favorite podcasts, just like the standard podcast apps. Except that it forgets your login and you have to login again. It has a daily bread section, which is awesome, except you have to play each one individually and can't just play your daily readings and saints of the day in one go. What's the point of this app? What gap in the field of podcast apps is it trying to fill? Why is everything orthodox people do so poorly executed and chaotic? We're in the west now. ### 2/5 — Nice programming but… *2026-03-13, version 7.1.0* The app didn’t work well for me . It doesn’t load very quickly and froze when I tried to play the radio. ### 2/5 — Buggy App *2025-12-31* I love the content on this app. It is a wonderful gift to all Christian’s. But there are many technical issues that need to be fixed so I can enjoy using this app. It crashes, logs me out almost every time. I have to search for what I was listening to almost every time because it doesn’t save my progress. The app is also difficult to navigate to find things to listen to. Like when I look up Fr. Evan Armatas I have to search his full name and it still sometimes doesn’t show me all of his podcasts without going through each folder. I truly hope that y’all will improve your app so that it may minister to many more people. In Christ ### 2/5 — Used to Love This App *2025-10-20* The mid-2025 overhaul of this app eliminated the most important features of this app. The radio content is top notch, but the app constant logs you out, stops playing for no apparent reason (times out when the phone is resting?), and you can no longer broadcast to devices (speakers) in your home or vehicle. If I can’t keep it playing for more than a couple minutes unattended, this content is functionally inaccessible and the app now rendered worthless. I check back every month hoping for improvements, but so far no functionalities of the app have returned to their former utility. Very, very sad, especially for donors. ### 3/5 — Great content, app flaws *2025-09-27, version 7.0.2* I absolutely love ancient faith and the podcast episodes but this app is really flawed. Everytime I open it, it won't load at all and I have to uninstall and reinstall the app in order for it to work. In English or Global, the radio will play for less than 20 seconds then it will shut down. I’ve uninstalled the app and reinstalled it twice to no resolution. Please fix this bug. ### 3/5 — Glitchy since updated *2025-09-05, version 7.0.2* Since the app was updated and reconfigured, it takes a long time to load and I have to log in again every time. It’s a real pain. There is something wrong. Would be great to get that fixed soon. Monthly donor. ### 3/5 — Update Bugs *2025-08-18* The recent update to the app makes it look cleaner. However, some features are longer there or at least not work out and need the bugs worked out. First, continue listening feature always takes you back to the beginning of the episode. Does not pick up where you left off like it did prior to the update. Second, I have several podcasts marked as favorites and there is no where I can find to view just my favorite podcasts. I have to go through the list each time. And sometimes remark a podcast as a favorite. ### 3/5 — Fix bugs *2025-08-18, version 7.0.0* Great mission, app needs work. If bugs are fixed, this is an easy five star ### 3/5 — App Issues *2025-08-12* Every time they update the app, it’s a clunker. Links are broken (they link to the wrong episode) favorites no longer exist (I have to search for the podcast manually), etc. They also have no consistent schedule for Whole Counsel of God. Some weeks an episode comes out Tuesday, others on Thursday, every five or six weeks they randomly forget to upload an episode. It’s great content for sure but the tech side is always chaotic. ### 2/5 — A pain in the neck to use *2025-08-11* I love listening to Lord of spirits, and this is the only way that I’m able to access Orthodox podcasts and other stuff. With the recent update to the app, it caused frequent crashing frequent logging out for some reason, podcasts are no longer able to save the time where I was in the episode, and a whole bunch of other stuff that makes it very difficult to use. If there was another way that I could access a wide variety of orthodox content I would and I would ditch this app, but because it is the only thing I have I still have to use it and it pains me every single time I use it. ### 3/5 — Huge step backward *2025-08-06* Firstly, I’m deeply grateful for all AFM does, & I’m grateful for this app. The recently released non-backward compatible version removed quite a lot of functionality & is considerably less usable. Having a log in no longer seems to serve any purpose as all my old preferences are gone & there seems to be no way to create new ones. We must now slog through the entire list of recently released content to find what we want, which given the list isn’t always in release order, is quite tedious. At a minimum, a “filter on following” is mandatory to make this new version usable. ### 4/5 — Considerably better in 7,0 *2025-08-02* The App looks much more modern, and up-to-standard with the 7.0 update. There are still some odd quirks (like being able to swipe to the right and get to a log in screen while already logged in), but it feels considerably less like a somewhat barren extension of the radio website, and more like a full featured radio app for Orthodox Christianity. ### 2/5 — Not great *2025-07-29, version 6.8.2* I love ancient faith, but this app is the pits. Logs me out frequently, but worse, it drops the play constantly. I’m being logged out of the app constantly, sometimes multiple times a day, and it’s super annoying. When I am driving and trying to sign in makes it difficult to listen on the go. I use the app almost every day but the app has so many issues and glitches. The app is constantly crashing. It makes my phone slow down, and crashes if, while listening to a podcast, I tab over to my email. As a smaller note, though I think it’s somewhat important, the app doesn’t mark things as listened to. Which for certain podcasts would be helpful. Also for some podcasts they are filmed. And if you close the app at all it doesn’t save your place in the podcast which is pretty annoying. I really do enjoy their content, especially podcasts. There is an app for AFR on the Apple TV App Store, but since the “current version” 1.5.1 states “What’s New” is support for tvOS 14 and since tvOS’s current version is 17.6, it would appear AFR has not updated this app in quite some time. Uninstall/reinstall did not resolve this issue. I do hope someone over at Ancient Faith Radio is paying attention to this. ### 1/5 — Deleting App *2024-07-29, version 6.7* I did not realize that Ancient Faith Radio had kicked off previous clergy who were not “towing the line.” It really bothers me that talented clergy who have spiritual gifts are being censored. I found a much better Orthodox app that I will be using instead. Shame on Ancient Faith for choosing to keep truth away from the faithful. ### 1/5 — CRT is slipped in casually *2024-06-13, version 6.7* I agree with others, they are slipping in CRT topics. Shame for slavery, shame for color, shame for more diversity despite tower of babel separation of people. ### 1/5 — Makes me Nostalgic for Terrestrial Radio *2023-11-23* All three streams refuse to play on this app through my iPhone 7, which is otherwise fully functional. The talk, English, and global streams simply refuse to load and any point, which is an achievement as far as I am concerned. My device is otherwise fully functional, so it must be the app itself. This makes me wish that AFR had terrestrial and shortwave options available, as buffering and loading issues are the reason I detest internet radio. ### 1/5 — Does not play *2023-09-29, version 6.7* I listen to a lot of Ancient Faith podcasts and have bought books and donated, too. I used to listen to the live radio but since the new app launched I haven’t been able to get it to play. Very sad as I would like to listen to live content sometimes like I did before! ### 1/5 — The New Version of AFR App *2023-02-08, version 6.4* The content is phenomenal! I don’t want to live a day without AFR Music or podcasts. The functionality of the app has been problematic from the time of the relaunch. Whatever caused this app to go offline in 2022 seems to have caused damage beyond repair. You cannot really complain about free good content though. An odd glitch happened though, where I tried to go to the music stream after being done with the talk stream, and the app crashed. Any subsequent attempts to launch the app at all, even after a restart of my phone, would insta-crash. Thank you! 🛐☦️ UPDATE 6/13/2020: nothing within the app works anymore. It's been over a month since I wrote to the developers, and no response. Using iPhone iOS software version 13.5.1. I deleted the app, restarted my phone, and downloaded the app again...sadly, it doesn't work for iOS 13.5.1 May 2020 Only radio works iOS 13.5.1 I enjoy listening to the radio feature, but the app insists I don't have an internet connection and will not move past this error message for any other component. It's been like this for weeks. Very disappointing I'm unable to spiritually connect via podcasts or live chat. It's also important to note, this error of "No internet connection" is inaccurate. I use a strong wifi and have cellular data enabled with an unlimited plan as my backup. I wish it was on my end, because I'd fix these issue, but this is somethinh the app developers need to look into and, hopefully, rectify soon. Lastly, I'm unable to sign-in nor donate. ### 5/5 — One of the best Orthodox apps out there *2020-04-13* I love AFR, just got baptized and Chrismated into the Orthodox Church a little over a month ago, and I’ve used this app since the very beginning when I first inquired into Orthodoxy. I love it. It helps me and my family begin our day with hearts postured towards the Lord through the Daily Bread tab. I think if there were a better compiling of the programs offered it would be easier to navigate.
