## What is & Altar?

& Altar brings daily Catholic prayer, fasting, and almsgiving to every member of your household - with content paths personalized for families, men, women, teens, young adults, elders, and Spanish-speaking Catholic families.

Each day begins with Scripture, ends with prayer, and invites you into a small concrete practice for the hours between. All shaped for the state of life you're actually in.

DAILY REFLECTIONS
Start each day with Scripture-based reflections written for your stage of life and vocation. Each reflection includes the day's readings, a Gospel-centered meditation, a concrete way to live it today, and a closing prayer.

EIGHT PRAYER PATHS
Choose the formation paths that fit you or your family:

- Hearth & Altar - for families with children at home
- Iron & Altar - for men
- Vessel & Altar - for women
- Eventide & Altar - for elders and those in the second half of life
- Ostium Catholic - for young adults
- Young Disciples - for teens

En español:
- Hogar y Altar - para familias
- Ocaso y Altar - para adultos mayores

PATRON SAINTS FOR EACH PATH
Every path is paired with a specific patron saint who walks with you as an intercessor. Meet Saint Joseph the Worker in Iron, Saints Louis and Zélie Martin in Hearth, Saint Pier Giorgio Frassati in Ostium, Saint Carlo Acutis in Young Disciples, and more. Ancient Catholic devotion, in the palm of your hand.

FAST AND GIVE - THE FULL SPIRITUAL PRACTICE
Alongside daily prayer, & Altar now includes Fast and Give - completing the three-fold spiritual practice from Matthew 6. Warm invitations to fast on Fridays, Ember Days, and days the Church has always kept as penitential. Daily invitations to almsgiving that connect to the saints and the liturgical year. Your practice is private to you.

FAMILY SHARING
One household membership covers up to 6 family members. Each person has their own profile, chooses their own paths, and tracks their own progress. Family features include:

- See how your family has been praying this week
- Plan and observe feast days together
- Share prayer intentions within your family
- Keep a family record of shared Catholic formation

GROUPS
Beyond your household, form and join Groups - voluntary Catholic associations of adult subscribers walking together in prayer. Men's groups, women's groups, parish groups, workplace groups. Each Group chooses its own patron saint from a library of over thirty saints. Iron & Altar and Vessel & Altar Small Groups also access weekly discussion guides directly in the app.

MONTHLY PATRONAL LETTER
On the first day of each month, receive a personalized letter from Deacon Michael Halbrook with the Church's monthly devotion, upcoming feasts, and a note from each of your patron saints.

AUDIO REFLECTIONS
Listen to daily reflections when reading isn't an option. Available for select content paths.

PARISH COMMUNITIES
Your parish may provide free access to & Altar for all parishioners. Enter your parish code during setup to connect.

Full access requires a Domus Formation membership.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.7.5 — 2026-07-20

Small polish release.

Feast day names on the Family tab are now tappable to open expanded content - saint biographies, traditions, and family observance ideas. We've also refined which feast days appear on the Family screen.

"Who prayed what today" has moved to the bottom of the daily prayer reflection screen, giving the reflection itself more room to breathe.

Small visual fix - removed a stray bar and spacing above the daily prayer reflection screens.

### 1.7.3 — 2026-07-19

This update completes the three-fold spiritual practice in & Altar.

NEW: Fast
The new Fast tab brings the Church's fasting tradition into the app. Every Friday, every Ember Day, every Ash Wednesday and Good Friday - warm invitations to fast, offered for someone or something. Wednesdays for men (a traditional Saint Joseph day). Fridays in Lent. First Fridays. Vigils of great solemnities. Your personal practice is tracked privately - seen by God alone.

Fasting from food is not for everyone. & Altar always offers alternatives for those who cannot physically fast.

NEW: Give
The new Give tab brings almsgiving into daily practice. Warm invitations to sacrificial giving every day - small daily offerings, weekend tithing emphasis, feast day connections to specific saints of charitable service. Fifty feast days across the year, each connecting to a specific way to give. Personal practice tracking, private to you.

NEW: Groups
Form or join voluntary Catholic Groups with other adult subscribers. Men's groups, women's groups, parish groups, workplace groups, friend groups. Each Group chooses its own patron saint from a library of thirty-plus. Iron & Altar and Vessel & Altar Small Groups also access weekly discussion guides directly in the app.

NEW: Family (renamed from Household)
The Family tab now leads with how your family has been praying this week - shared prayer rhythm, intentions, feast days, and family log at the top. Household members and invite management moved to where they belong: the bottom of the tab.

NEW: Adult Tagging
Household owners can now mark which household members are 18 or older. Adult household members can create and join Groups. Non-adults keep everything about Family unchanged. Young Disciples remains a teen-only space.

NEW: Bottom navigation
The app now has six tabs: Pray, Fast, Give, Family, Groups, Account. Path management has moved into the Account tab.

### 1.7.0 — 2026-07-18

NEW: Household sharing
If you're on a household membership, family members can now see each other's engagement, plan feast day observances together, and share prayer intentions within the family. Your household becomes a shared formation space.

NEW: Patron saints for every path
Each path is now paired with a specific patron saint who walks with you as an intercessor. Meet Saints Louis and Zélie Martin in Hearth, Saint Joseph the Worker in Iron, Saint Elizabeth of the Visitation in Vessel, Saint Anna the Prophetess in Eventide, Saint Pier Giorgio Frassati in Ostium, Saint Carlo Acutis in Young Disciples, Our Lady of Guadalupe with Saint Juan Diego in Hogar, and Saint Simeon in Ocaso.

Every time you open your path, a beautiful prayer card of your patron will appear with their invocation before your day's content begins. Ancient Catholic devotion, honored in the app.

On the first day of each month, you'll receive a personalized letter from Deacon Michael with the Church's monthly devotion, upcoming feasts, and a note from each of your patron saints.
