### 5/5 — Love!

*2026-06-15, version 7.1.0*

I LOVE Andante ! My only suggestion would be to add friends and create a support section on the app. Like Duolingo how you can see your friend’s streaks and cheer them on!

### 5/5 — Best practice journaling solution I’ve used

*2026-06-15, version 7.1.0*

I’ve tried a number of different methods for documenting practice: pen and paper, spreadsheet templates, daily planners, none have worked as well as this. It quickly tracks everything I need without being too much, and gets out of the way just as quickly so I can go back to practicing.

### 5/5 — effective

*2026-06-13, version 7.1.0*

andante gets me to practice — seeing the metrics, hours practiced per week, the STREAK, i am more motivated.

get this app if you’re an analytical musician who likes seeing merit from how many hours you’ve practice and need motivation thru streaks

### 5/5 — Excellent app

*2026-06-13, version 7.1.0*

I practice a lot more than usual since I started using this app. It’s been very helpful, and it has a lot of useful features.

### 5/5 — Great for tracking practice!

*2026-06-08, version 7.1.0*

With statistics and easy controls on Dante music practice journal supplies you with a consistent and helpful practicing app and metronome!

### 5/5 — Great

*2026-06-06, version 7.1.0*

Really intuitive, clean design and works well. One additional feature I would like is the ability to add multiple items per session - I often practice more than one piece per session.

### 5/5 — Very useful little app

*2026-06-05*

I started playing again after a long gap and need to be supercritical if I’m to get back to where I was. The virtue of this is its simplicity. I like being able to write notes in two places, as I usually plan my next practice on what went less well this time, so I can use the journal for that then copy the list into the practice notes. If I make a note while practising then that can be taken over to the journal. I like the way the journal can be set so you can see lots of entries. It shows progress. Having the tuner, metronome and recording system in one place is a real plus.
A year on I’m still finding it useful. I use the time recorder for every practice. I’ve also created new Journal folders so I can summarise separately my music lists with notes, exercises I’m working on, my lesson notes if needed and a few other things like courses or band practice.
I don’t tend to use the mood item as it tends to change as I play anyway, especially if I’ve started it feeling a bit low, I’m usually cheered by playing.
Over two years on, I’m still using Andante and have added folders of notes on pieces and observations from masterclasses. I still think its virtue is its simplicity.

### 5/5 — The Greatest app for musicians

*2026-06-02, version 7.1.0*

It gives me motivation to practice

### 5/5 — Best Practice App Hands Down

*2026-05-27, version 7.0.4*

This app is an absolute essential for any musician period. I could not life without it.

### 5/5 — Essential Tool For Deliberate Practice

*2026-05-26*

Andante, for years now, has been a critical component of my efforts to incrementally improve. It serves as a major motivator by documenting your practice sessions and being able to see the related metrics. For example, I can easily select to view hours practiced in “2026”, and what each monthly practice time resulted in.

It’s almost June and I currently have over 300 hours of practice logged for all of 2026 to date. I feel good about my efforts and motivated to keep pushing forward with focused daily practice goals and areas of focus.

Every time I complete a practice session…5 min, 20 min, 60 min, etc…my reward is logging what I practiced. It couldn’t be easier to use.

### 5/5 — Tags

*2026-05-23, version 7.0.4*

Great app. Outstanding even. I would recommend adding tags to the practice on top of regular notes to further track practice type. Maybe I want to track the amount of time I work on a specific song or technique. Just a thought

### 5/5 — Great App!

*2026-05-22, version 7.0.4*

Simple, clean design that makes logging practice sessions super easy.

### 5/5 — Amazing!!

*2026-05-13*

This is a really good app for any musician that wants to track their practice! It’s got lots of stats that are great to see.

### 5/5 — Excellent All-Around Music App

*2026-05-11, version 7.0.4*

I could not praise this app more. I've been using it for about 2 years since I began practicing piano, and it has helped me in so many areas. It has a built-in metronome that can go at any speed from 40 to 300 BPM; it has a record sound option so that you can playback your practices; it even lets you track by week, month, and year your total playtime.

Suffice it to say, this app is packed with features (way more than I just described) for absolutely no cost. If you're a newcomer, or a pro, or anything in between, this app is a must.

### 5/5 — Musicians best friend!

*2026-04-28, version 7.0.2*

I play and study a handful
of instruments; as well as practice DJ work, sing and study books from a handful of subject matters. So having an app that can handle several profiles was essential for my needs.

This app has allowed me to keep myself accountable, focused and intentional when it comes to my practice and study sessions.

Pro:
No monthly subscription fee.
(I prefer the one time purchase option.)

Pro:
Creates reports for all your practice sessions.

Pro:
You can import audio files, take notes, journal, tune your guitar, set a timer, use a metronome and record your sessions all from one app.

Pro:
Very intuitive graphic user interface.

Pro:
Color code each profile!

### 5/5 — Best practice app I’ve ever used

*2026-04-18, version 7.0.2*

THANK YOU for giving me a simple, effective and motivating place to record my work! I’ve been using this app for almost ten years and the updates are incredible. I am so pleased.

### 5/5 — Fantastic

*2026-04-14, version 7.0.0*

Used since mid-2022. Paid for the lifetime. Never looked back. Fantastic app. Going for over 100hr monthly average in 2026. We will see if I can do it!

### 5/5 — Nice little app

*2026-04-12, version 7.0.0*

Has a good journal entry system and a metronome to hand. Happy with the app

### 5/5 — I like it a lot so far!

*2026-04-05, version 7.0.0*

I think what sets this app apart from others is the widget. I have it on my ipad home screen and the little rings motivate me to practice. I haven’t committed to the pro version yet. The thing that would make me subscribe is the ability to set practice goals. For example a checklist of passages that I need to spend a lot of time practicing. “m1-10 in concerto.”

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — App crashes on launch

*2026-05-07*

App crashes on launch, barely useable

**Developer response:** Hey sorry that's happening, please update your app to the latest version (7.0.4) and let me know if it's fixed for you! You can email me at miles@andante.app.

### 1/5 — Zero support..

*2025-10-01*

Yet another app in the Apple Store where there’s a support link that’s meant to take you to the developers page for support but their support contact email has been removed from the page. So you will never actually ever get any support at all and as the purchase bypasses the Apple Store but takes place inside the app itself view then effectively can never get to refund if it does not work or you have issues. This practice needs to be stopped.

### 1/5 — Not good

*2025-05-11, version 6.4.4*

Tonic is way better

### 1/5 — Trash

*2024-12-03, version 6.3.1*

Bad

### 1/5 — Greedy developer

*2024-06-01, version 5.10.0*

I’ll stick with pianodiary by Yamaha. Way better as it records everything without me having to spend time entering anything. Also your pricing is way too greedy.

### 1/5 — Wanted to love it

*2024-02-29*

App did not sync properly across devices using same Apple ID, tried everything. Come to find out it just deleted all my practice logs going back years. Very sad, wouldn’t invest too much time and effort into this as it could just wind up disappearing!

**Developer response:** Hey, I’m sorry you’re having that experience. Have you tried signing out and signing back in to your Apple ID? And please make sure iCloud is toggled on for Andante in your device's settings. It can take some time for iCloud to sync back all your data. If that doesn't work, please email me at miles@andante.app!

### 1/5 — Why the sections need money

*2023-08-13, version 2.2.7*

Pls remove the money or at least make it $4

### 2/5 — Forget to use

*2025-06-22, version 6.4.7*

When I use it, not sure it’s helping me much

### 2/5 — A glorified notebook and time keeper.

*2024-09-09, version 6.0.8*

The biggest problem is that the app does not allow you to track individual subjects, pieces, or goals) as part of a practice session (or even allocate a practice session to different activities: for example, scales, arpeggios, piece 1, etc. It would be great if this app could include more of the features found in Four Score. Also, the user should be able to a) plot short- and l-no-term goals on a calendar; group pieces for practice (I.e., current focus, technical studies, sightreading by goal — ledger lines, polyrhythm, etc), and track practice time by piece / goal.

### 2/5 — Crashes randomly - Jan. ‘24

*2024-05-15, version 5.9.5*

Update on previous — the crashes occur only when not connected to internet. I don’t like leaving WiFi turned on when it’s not in use. I don’t see a way to make this app use internal local storage without it crashing.

Original review — Used to work very well, now after updating to current version, it crashes randomly when timer running in background. iPad Pro fully updated. Developer seems unresponsive to emails. Should mention I paid for the full version of this no-longer-usable app.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Ótimo

*2026-08-23*

Excelente app para controle do tempo de estudo e monitoramento da evolução

### 5/5 — A Game Changer!

*2026-08-21*

This app is clearly made by a musician for musicians! Unlike so many of the developers out there that blatantly mimic whatever is popular, cramming every bell and whistle into an app to try and compete, Andante is simple and elegant. It has everything the serious musician needs to dial in and sustain a fun and fruitful practice regimen. Once you get your head around the work flow, it all clicks into place and you are off to the races. Whether you are a person who is solely focused on learning pieces, or a multi instrumentalist that needs to make every moment of free practice time count, Andante has you covered. It truly spurs you on to practice more and keeps your practice organized in way that creates a thread between all the work you have done before. It’s user friendly and dead simple at face value, but far more complex under the hood than you might expect. The tools are all right there where you need them to be without any distraction. I will definitely be using this app for years to come, and I look forward to watching it evolve… Also, it’s a 1 time payment!!! Bravo!!

**Developer response:** Thanks for the kind and thoughtful review! Glad the app is helping your practice

Miles

### 5/5 — The rare perfect app

*2026-08-05, version 7.1.0*

Andante is delightful. Exactly the tools you need for intentional practice and no extra cruft.

### 5/5 — Improving my playing one day at a time!

*2026-08-04, version 7.1.0*

I love this app. It’s great for capturing my focus and for keeping me on track with my practice schedule. I was also able to see patterns within my practice for example, I’m a much better player in the morning. I highly recommend this app.

### 5/5 — Glad I found it!

*2026-08-04, version 7.1.0*

I love this app!! It really helps me lock in and keep track of my progress. Keeps me accountable. The in app features are also very helpful, especially the audio recorder.

### 5/5 — Simple and Brilliant

*2026-07-17, version 7.1.0*

It’s rare to come across an app that so directly and roundly delivers on its function. I use this for my daily practice, great for staying accountable and tracking and recording progress.

### 5/5 — The app I’ve been searching for (get it if you want to keep track of and improve any skill)

*2026-07-14*

I’ve been looking for a long time for an app that can track progress that is intuitive, simple, but has all the features I want (and none of the fluff) AND isn’t a subscription. I downloaded the free version (limited to one “profile” aka one instrument/activity) and after about a week I bought the full version. Now I have two profiles - piano and guitar, but one can make many more or even custom ones - you could track any activity you’d like, however, it is made for musicians - it has built in metronome, tuner and a record button too, which saves clips of your practice to the session (recording yourself is always eye opening ). There is space to put in notes about the session (what was practiced, how did it go etc) and a journal tab (I use mine for setting long term goals) It’s seriously awesome, it helps me to stay focused (I pause it when I get interrupted and just having the session open makes me motivated to come back), it is very intuitive and a great tool for anyone who wants to get better at their instrument (or anything else). Not sponsored, I just love it.

**Developer response:** Thank you for the kind and thoughtful review! It’s great to hear that it’s so helpful for your practice.

Miles

### 5/5 — Best tracking app ever!!!

*2026-07-10*

I love it so much. It helps me stay focused and make sure that my practice sessions and consistency is tracked. I love this app so so much. It has really helped me to keep a note of my progress very well. Highly recommend ❤️

### 5/5 — Useful and easy to use

*2026-06-24, version 7.1.0*

Needs 3 things:
1. The ability to pause a practice session.
2. The ability to add pix and vids to the notes.
3. A practice session planner.
But is very good, it’s helped to to see how inconsistent my practice is, and helping me to improve it.

### 5/5 — Wow

*2026-06-18, version 7.1.0*

This app is designed so well I used to do software development and wow such a well built app.

It has made me practice min 2 hours a day thank you!!!
