Used it as the storm approached, then several hours later when it was nearly upon us and the wind was really whipping outside. At first I thought this was OK outside, but then found that it reads 5 - 6 knots inside where there is no wind at all. Could use moe info though. *2022-02-16, version 1.9* I bought this for use sailing, more as something of interest than something to rely on, since you really need to rely on how the boat is handling and not on a number on a screen. The app is impressive and gives what seems to be a realistic measure of windspeed. It seems to give a stream of instant readings so numbers flash on the screen in a flickering array, clustered around the speed. Only when you save the reading do yiu get a single average number. I guess that is how it is designed. It would be helpful if it had some instructions. It also seems to operate well in any direction so you do not need to point it into the wind. Again, instructions here would be useful. But for the price it remains a good tool and a great bargain. ### 5/5 — Perfect for what I wanted! *2020-03-08, version 1.8.1* Those reviews complaining about not having mph should re-download it now. You can switch between knots, mph & fps. I love the ability to post on the map, it’s so easy just click map after capturing your wind speed. I knew the weather apps were reporting way low numbers and I was able to prove it. They said 17 but it was really 20 with 23 mph gusts. I’ve been looking for an app like this! Couple ideas maybe update it even more to make it more accurate but other than that amazing app! If you have an extender I can mount eternally on big rig somewhere that would be great, but of course there’s the fact that the truck is in motion that may throw off reading.
