It serves two purposes - it amuses the kids while they watch it, and it teaches them the names of the animals. And I love the feature that allows you to have random animals fly across the screen. After your kids have used the app for a while you can set it to display random animals and have them identify them as they fly by. Treat it like a fun game, and you are reinforcing what they learned - the names of 14 animals (and one bee). We need more apps like this.
