The Fill in circles no longer work . Triangles and squares work. Circles do not . I've tried reinstalling many times . It is simply not working since the latest update ### 4/5 — Fine *2016-07-12, version 3.6.0* This app is actually pretty good. It is way better than Animation Express. Only a few complaints though. So the fill tool doesnt exactly work correctly. Instead of filling in a specific area, it fills in the entire thing. Also the characters, or something, never appear on screen. Please fix these two things. Then I will rate 5 stars. Overall rating: 4.8 ### 3/5 — Frustrating tool with room for improvement *2012-04-17, version 3.2* I have a couple of beefs with this tool. My biggest complaint is the tool is built for the iPhone which really limits the landscape support. For instance, any picture imported or pasted is automatically brought in rotated to portrait view despite how you may be holding your iPad. The app also needs background support badly. I'm hoping these items and others will be improved over time as this app could really be the premiere animation tool on the iPad. ### 3/5 — Good App, but Keeps Crashing *2012-03-02, version 3.1* I like this app VERY much, and even spent up to about 5 hours making an amazing 525 frame animation. I could load 525 frames without any problem. However, I have a small 75 frame one that I NEED for school, and it won't load. I would even be willing to start over (If I had to), but the app doesnt work anymore, it just keeps on crashing. I would give this app five stars, but it is a good app, with bugs to be worked out ### 4/5 — Great little app for the price *2012-02-19, version 3.1* For beginners, this is easy to use. Instructions are easy to follow. You do have to learn as you go. It takes time and patience. The rewards are great if you stick to it. I've had fun just playing around with it. Now I appreciate what it takes to animate something. It does crash every so often, but my work has been saved. I trust that as time goes by, I'll improve along with the app. 4 stars because nothing is perfect. ### 2/5 — Only a Toy *2011-11-25, version 3.1* Basically unusable at 148 frames. Unexplainably slow to load and to save. Crashes and loses large amounts of work, but slow performance discourages frequent saving. Button layout needs a rethink - frequently used buttons should be up top - copy frame, add frame, delete frame, etc. Copy and paste is crude - no precision in copying. Drop 60 percent of the features, improve the rest, fix your slow algorithms. ### 2/5 — good features, poor design *2011-11-18, version 3.1* The layout of the buttons is poorly thought out on the iphone. Once I had a few frames with multiple layers, the program slowed down enough that taps to open the right tool drawer caused a new frame to be added. The same problem with add and remove frame buttons placed next to forward and back buttons on the animation cell menu. While it should have been easy to remove an unwanted frame, a bug in the program caused previously correct layers to "update" in strange unwanted ways. Save your work often! I haven't yet been able to import a background image that was shot in landscape format. The program automatically resizes and rotates the image 90 degrees. Trying to use the element tools to undo this transformation is still beyond me. The developer's website ought to have a few video tutorials to walk you through how to use the app. An easy way to report bugs would be nice, too. ### 4/5 — Could be perfect *2011-11-01, version 3.1* NEEDS Undo Button! The app is powerful but the auto save is frustrating slow and doesn't even work. I had a project with 130 pages. Every two minutes it would freeze as it auto saved. Then as I rushed out the door I put my iPad to sleep as it was auto saving. When I opened my project it reverted back to the last place I originally saved (48 slides)!! So frustrating! Kill the auto save (or at least allow it to be disabled) Add "Undo" After those change definitely worth $0.99 and five stars. ### 2/5 — Needs an interface redesign *2011-08-27, version 3.0.1* By scanning through the menu one can tell that this program has a lot of powerful features but the interface design is not intuitive and hinders the overall user experience. Certain (very common) functions require multiple menu selections, which slows down the work flow process. I really WANTED to like this program but unfortunately this is a good example of how the menu/user interface can dramatically hinder a programs usability. ### 5/5 — A Must Buy / Must Have App! *2011-08-11, version 3.0.1* Just a great App! Awesome power, I'd have paid 10 times as much for these features, in fact I have with those WEB based options, but this is just better. This is super easy to use and amazingly powerful. It processed a 200 Cell Animation with sound into a .mov file in under 90 seconds, that's crazy fast for that data, and on an iOS device, it's not like I'm running a dual processor desktop. This thing is crazy powerful. Suggestions: A gradient tool (not that any other has one, but why not?) and more great characters. Thanks! Oh yes, and love to read the scandalous 1 stars on this, do they thing we're slow? Like we don't get those are marketing for other App? Every single objection I've read to this App I've found through personal experience is just not true. A good tutorial is needed since this app isn't popular. ### 1/5 — DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY *2014-09-02, version 3.4.1* Ya know, I didn't even download the update for this app. Why? Well, this was once a good app but needless updates have ruined it. Therefore I am afraid to update it anymore in fear of it getting even worse (if that's possible). I guess morons must make these stupid updates. I don't know. What I do know is that you will probably regret downloading this latest update, that is if you haven't already deleted this app from your iPhone or iPad. ### 1/5 — Not good for cartoons *2013-04-06, version 3.3.1* Seeing that this had a 5 star review, I bought this to animate cartoon shorts. Soon after I opened the app I found out that the way you color on this app is annoying. Wherever it overlaps, it makes your color extra dark so you can see every individual stroke, which I don't like. If you like that kind of thing, to ahead, but if you plan to do any kind of simple cartoon animation, this app is not for you. This app is also non intuitive and complicated. Again, not for simple animations. Would only recommend for hardcore animators who need the extra controls and painting style. ### 1/5 — Needs Tutorial *2012-10-17, version 3.2.2* I would not advise purchasing this app until it has some form of instructions (it's "manual" explains very little). It's not intuitive at all and there are no tutorials online. I've created other animations using other apps and found them to be far easier to use. If you view the video on their website, you will see a man doodling on a blank page but doing nothing in the way of actually demoing how to animate, integrate layers, etc. What a shame. ### 1/5 — There are way better apps. *2012-04-14, version 3.2* It's really great to use, but there are tons and TONS of issues. *There is a problem where I will be working, and then the app suddenly bugs out and quits back to my home screen, which makes me lose my current work. That happened to me earlier and I got very upset because I lost an animation i'd been working on for days. It would be nice if you could put a 'save automatically' function. *Easier instructions. It took me a VERY long time to learn how to use this app. Tutorial didn't help at all. I had to figure things out mostly on my own. *Zoom functions! It is very hard to draw small things from a far distance, so you need to put in a zoom function. The whole 'you have no zoom' automatically takes away a star. *Very hard to maneuver. It takes a very, very long time for it to save, and the buttons are very far apart and hard to reach if you are engaged in your animation. *The paint tool (more like the 'pain tool'). I will blend my colors to create the color that I want, and when I go to the next frame, the color will be gone and it's nearly impossible to get the color back. It makes the animation look sloppy because of the color changes. If you could, make it so that I don't loose my current color when I go to the next frame. Y'know what? Forget what I said at the beginning of this review 'it's really great to use'. This app stinks. Don't get it. I can animate better with a piece of paper and a pencil! ### 1/5 — Horrible ..and I am by profession an animator *2012-02-02, version 3.1* This app probably scraped by Apple's approval process and after they did get approval, they likely changed their site to disallow any interaction with customers. My sense about both this maker given my experience with this poorly designed "thing" is the entire effort and company is a scam. I finally gave up and deleted it from my iPad. Beware the positive reviews below. Anybody with any sense at all knows how these reviews can be gamed - especially in the world of young boys and their toys (which this stuff seems to attract many of). As a pro in the animation world with many years in development as well, this one word for you: BEWARE!!! I tried to simply import a "photo" as a layout to use. This I could only do by importing the image as a background. Ok, fine. Then I tried to enlarge the imported image and rotate it into proper place. This was ridiculously difficult. Instead of utilizing standardized UI from common applications (UI which has now become ubiquitous), this thing has its own ideas of how to scale, for example. I just gave up. And I am going to ask for a refund. I have both a BFA and MFA in animation and worked for 35 years in the field. I am fluent in using AE, etc. but this app just wasted my time. ### 1/5 — Boring!!!!! *2010-11-27, version 0* I once got this app from the App Store many weeks ago just because I thought it would be interesting. But, a couple minutes after I downloaded the app, I found the graphics boring, the pencil/marker textures boring, the animation replays aren't professional creations, and the piano sounds are just horrible and echoes after you play a single note. If you're looking for a full featured, powerful and easy to use tool for making fun Animations, I'd strongly suggest you pick up this App. I've had this since the day the iPad came out, and it both runs great and gets better with every update. I am still trying to learn the animation part. Haven't got that part down yet but hope to soon. I would like to request additional voice choices since the only choices there are a man and a woman's voice. Please add some younger sounding voices if possible. And please tune the Piano. Thanks for a great app! ### 5/5 — Great Animation Creator App! *2012-05-20, version 3.2.1* Ok, so I read these reviews, checked out their WEB site, watched the Videos, and looked up Animations other Users posted online, and figured, ok, this is the best Animation App or something's astray at the Circle K. (name that movie!) Why not try it out? It's less than coffee, come on. So, guess what? It's an Awesome! Why pay 5 bucks for an Animation app that does 1/2 as much? Insane. Animation Studio is the Best! I bought this App and I'm glad I did! ### 5/5 — One question.... *2012-05-05, version 3.2.1* When will the developers include the ability to zoom ? Animation Desk just included zooming in its latest version update. It's a great app, clean, very stream lined but Animation Studio has a lot more going for it. Include ZOOM and I'll give Animation Studio a six star rating. ### 5/5 — Great for learning animation basics *2012-04-26, version 3.2.1* This app is highly recommended - I am learning animation and this app is very helpful. As a graphic artist and illustrator, I like the user interface and the ability to paint into shapes, allowing shading, texture and nuance. Also, the customer service this developer provides is excellent. If you like attention to detail and working on a project, but want to quickly understand the basics of a new discipline, this animation app will please you. It is fun and allows for creativity, along with the ease of using the clipart to get going more quickly on the principles of animating. ### 5/5 — Cool features, but not smooth. *2012-04-10, version 3.2* This has awesome features: you can zoom to draw up-close, you can add audio, and you can copy the background and frames. But the zoom and virtual stylus is a little awkward; I like the loading feature where it waits for you to find your starting point before it begins drawing, but it'd be nice if it gave you a little more time (at least for me), and it's hard to maneuver and draw where you want it to draw. Great idea, just needs to be smoother. This is a stupid critique, but upon loading for the first time, it should make you aware of the help menu, which is the question mark "?" on the bottom right. It has audio support!!!! Does it let you upload audio from different sources (perhaps by way of iTunes on a computer)? So far as I can tell, you can only use audio that's recorded in THIS app. But I may be wrong about that. I'd like to be able to edit a soundtrack in a different program (one dedicated to audio) and then upload it here; then animate to that. If that is possible, maybe someone can tell me how. Other than that, it is really cool. ### 5/5 — Awesome App! *2012-01-05, version 3.1* I just love this App! If you're thinking of buying this, you should, but if you're not sure, I'd suggest you go search on the Internet to see the great Animations from this amazing App. I picked this a while ago because I wanted Sound on my Animations and this was the only one!
