## What is Annex B?

Your comma device records the road. Annex B makes those drive videos easy to use on iPhone and iPad.

Connect directly to a compatible comma device on your local network. Browse recent drives, preview road-camera footage, download full drives or individual one-minute segments, and prepare standard MP4 videos for playback or Photos.

Choose Original Quality to preserve the camera’s HEVC stream without re-encoding, or Compatibility to convert it to H.264 for easier sharing.

Designed to stay local:
• No account needed
• No analytics or cloud relay
• Read-only SSH/SFTP access to your comma device
• Pinned SSH host keys
• Private keys stored only in this device’s Keychain
• Photos add-only permission

Requirements:
• A compatible comma device on the same local network
• SSH enabled on the device
• A GitHub account configured on the comma device for SSH keys

Annex B includes four clearly labeled Sample Drives so you can explore the app before connecting hardware.

This update makes every step from connection to playback smoother.

• can now find compatible comma devices automatically on your local network and securely recover a paired connection when its address changes. Downloaded drives stay available across launches, complete with posters and drive details.
• richer Drive screen adds full-screen playback, a position marker that follows the video along its route, and speed, heading, altitude, and GPS accuracy synchronized with playback. You can also follow live download speed and processing progress.
• optional Setup Sync can copy only your SSH key and trusted comma between your devices through iCloud Keychain. It stays off until enabled, and imports or security-sensitive changes always require your approval.

Also included: clearer reconnecting and retry states, improved storage controls, and reliability fixes throughout downloading and preparation.

### 2026.8.1 — 2026-08-06

Annex B can now find comma devices on your local network and securely reconnect when a paired device's address changes.

Also new:
- Downloaded drives now stay available across launches with saved posters and drive details
- Clearer connection progress, retry, and recovery screens make it easier to get back to your library
- New storage controls let you clear cached metadata or delete downloaded drives
- Sample Drives can now be shown or hidden from Settings

This update also improves the reliability of downloading, finalizing, restoring, and deleting drives.
