### 3/5 — A Must Have App, but crashes a LOT

*2024-08-16*

Anybuffer is the answer to creating a universal import and export object clipboard for use with the IOS "Share" mechanism for making file and data pipes between applications. It is the first I've seen that actually works reliably with nearly any format, for any app, and any sharing extension. It preserves the original object data and metadata, though you can get slightly different results depending on how certain apps may share differently using different extensions. (For example, whether a file thumbnail gets created in Anybuffer seems to depend on how it imports that file.) Hopefully the developers really need to fix how it crashes so much for so many reasons. It is still a must have app for IOS if you share data between different apps it need to save PDFs for printing later, but unless the people at Anybuffer clean up their act some other companies going to eat their lunch.

**Developer response:** Thank you for the feedback.

Can you please contact me at info@ameba.co? I’m currently in the middle of redesign both of item sharing and preview, and I would like to incorporate your feedback.

### 4/5 — Great app except …

*2023-06-22*

This is a great app. But has a short coming that needs to be addressed ASAP when you store files like PDF, it does not show a graphic representation of the file in the iOS app. The Mac app will show graphic representations of almost every file but not the iOS app. Same thing happens with URLs when you send a PDF file to the app on the iOS version it’s shows you an icon with the logo of the app, but it is not enough to identify the document. This is a major shortcoming, because if you sent a lot of documents or PDF to the app, you will end up with icons that you have to open one by one in order to know what they have in them. I hope the developer fixes this soon.

### 4/5 — Fantastic app

*2022-04-07, version 2021.7*

Such a timesaver. I was going to suggest somehow to make a pop up to the usual paste dialog to see and select the last few “copy” stored in the designated list right in the app on screen. Also, I am a bit confused, silly me, how to activate the iCloud to avoid filling up my home. I assume it’s a one time payment level. Please help me with that since I just came to iOS and am a novice. Good job !!

### 4/5 — Great for IOS

*2021-11-30, version 2021.3*

Great for my ipad, but not sure why it needs to be open (onscreen in slide over or otherwise) to work. I have tried a few other apps that can still capture anything I copy while in the background. On the mac need to add keyboard shortcuts (customizable). If I copy something on my mac it takes around 10 seconds to show in folder. This is odd becasue it takes around 7 seconds if I copy on Mac to show up in folder on ipad. And only 2/3 seconds if I copy on ipad to show up in ipad.

### 4/5 — Best Clipboard App

*2021-07-15, version 2021.4*

This is the best clipboard app I've used overall. I just wish it gave me the option to choose which items I want selected instead of selected everything at once.

### 4/5 — Shelve function a bit confusing

*2021-07-09, version 2021.4*

Do I treat each shelve like a folder on a computer? It’s a bit confusing. Dislike how I am unable to select certain things within a shelf and move it to another.

Also unclear what smart shelve is

### 4/5 — Aaaaargh! Can't downlaod

*2021-05-03*

I love this on my ipad and iphone, but I'm stick on 10.15.7 on my mac so I cannot get this.

I'ts almost worth getting a new macbook jsut so I can use this app - that's how useful it is.

4 stars for being great - I can't really give you 5 can I?

### 4/5 — Almost perfect

*2021-02-01*

Excellent App, but the Mac version doesn't appear to have any way to save direct from Safari, via the Share menu, in the the way that the ipad and ihone versions do. I would also say that the Mac version is a Bookmark / clip store, but not really a clipboard manager, the clipboard has to be manaually pasted into the app. The ios versions have the option to auto add from the clipboard. 5* when this is sorted.

### 5/5 — Excellent and Essential

*2021-01-31*

If you have a folder in Files called "Temp," it's time to upgrade to the drag-and-drop future. Anybuffer is the best of the shelf apps (contenders include Gladys and Yoink) and offers exceptional utility. Want to grab a PDF, mark it up, and then save it to Evernote or Files and send it to someone via email? You can do it here, without having to save multiple copies. If you have some bespoke workflow and you want to integrate, Anybuffer has Shortcuts integration and now a Files integration too, so you can automate it and access it from the Files picker. Also nice is a file scanner, markup/quick look, and the ability to edit text you've copied. Altogether the best app purchase I've made in a while.

To top it off, the team at Ameba has excellent customer service and responded to my feature request politely and thoroughly. They deserve your money and your 5 star review.

### 5/5 — It organizes all the cool things

*2021-01-29, version 2020.15*

This app is awesome! It organizes all the cool things i find on the internet! A

### 5/5 — Brilliant!

*2021-01-29, version 2020.17*

I spent the last several hours going through each of the clipboard managers that are on the App Store. They were all half-baked feature-wise and buggy. I was ready to give up until I came across AnyBuffer. What a pleasant surprise. It does what it claims and does it very well. I paid for the Pro upgrade only a few minutes after I started using it. You can tell that the developer paid a lot of attention to it. Kudos!

(Feature request: is it possible to define the contents of Smart Folders based on the extension of a file? Currently the only options are the default types. For example, it will be great if I can put all of my markdown files in their own smart folder: currently they mixed with plain (non-markdown) text files.)

### 5/5 — Recommended for anyone

*2021-01-06, version 2020.17*

I can’t praise this app enough—it’s been extremely useful in transferring / managing a client’s website files between two separate FTP servers while on the go.

Thank you dev(s) for creating such a convenient and simple tool! 👌

### 5/5 — Amazing for my school work!!!

*2020-12-30, version 2020.17*

I really amazed by how this app is easy and wholesome. I can drag any video, pdf doc, article... etc and it will be saved there! This is exactly what I needed! Nothing fancy or complicated and get the job done. Amazing app!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Crash, crash, crash…

*2023-02-11, version 2021.7*

Whenever I try adding items from within the app or click an object in a folder it just wants to crash on me.

If this gets fixed, this rating is going to 5 but now the app is just pointless to have.

### 1/5 — Battery Killer

*2023-01-13, version 2021.7*

Background app refresh is off for this app, but it constantly shows up as what drains about 30% of my battery overnight while I sleep. It also seems to crash a decent amount now. I think its been abandoned by its devs.

### 1/5 — Was 4.5 stars, now crashes every time

*2023-01-01, version 2021.7*

This was pretty good, given the limitations of iOS, but suddenly it crashes every time you click the plus symbol to add a new clip. May not be fully compatible with iOS 16?

### 1/5 — Just Keeps Crashing. No customer support!

*2022-11-29, version 2021.7*

I downloaded this and planned on purchasing it after a trial run. The app will open, but as soon as I press the plus sign to add something, the app crashes! I’ve contacted the help/support but have never received a response! Never! I will find something else, perhaps SnipNotes. iPhone 13Pro running latest iOS updates.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t sync

*2021-10-08, version 2021.7*

Does not sync between iOS devices in iOS 15.

Limits its usefulness.

### 1/5 — App is Beyond Broken

*2020-04-30, version 2020.5*

Plagued with bugs and the Updates seem to only make them worse.

### 1/5 — DON’T UPDATE!!!!!! — when you update, it deletes every snippet you’ve saved!

*2020-02-19, version 2020.1*

EDIT: updating this app just deleted everything I had saved.

Doesn’t work very well:
Stops working from time to time.

Why the heck have a copied URL go to a webpage? That makes no sense. I only want to be able to grab the URL from AnyBuffer and paste it into my text box or address bar — I don’t want to view the webpage from the app!

It doesn’t add everything that I copy. Sometimes I select and copy only a few words, but those do not get added to the app. It will only add very long sections of text that I’ve copied.

It doesn’t retain any formatting of the original text. Bold, italics, etc. are lost and so are clickable URLs. So dumb.

More bugs: If you create a new shelf, it duplicates the last thing you copied. One time, I made a shelf and got the duplicate; the second time I went to make a shelf, but clicked Cancel and it duplicated the last thing I copied as well anyway.

What’s the point of this app?

**Developer response:** I’m sorry to hear you had a bad experience with the app. If you contact me at info@ameba.co - I’ll help you to navigate through how the app works. And you can help me to better understand the bugs you facing, so I can fix it.

Thank you, Kate.

### 1/5 — Very Sharp Learning Curve

*2019-12-18, version 2.1*

Good concept for an app, and maybe quite useful according to the App Store description, but once open, you stare at a blank screen with very few icons. Tapping results mostly in my iPad just sitting there as it had been before I installed this app.

What does it do again? Oh yeah, a clipboard on steroids. Yup. Possibly so. No evidence that it actually does anything but allow me to paste my clipboard textual content.

Is there a 45 lb. booklet to read? Far too complicated to be so simple. The world is distracted by the next thing in its face. This app doesn’t keep me distracted long enough to want to figure it out by poking and hoping.

So far, an hour wasted. If that’s the objective of this app, well done.

### 1/5 — New update bad U/I

*2019-11-08, version 2.0*

Used to be able to see everything at a glance. Not anymore. Time to go somewhere else.

### 2/5 — Search doesn’t work

*2021-09-28*

Tried to use this app to keep a large collection of links for my work, but the search doesn’t work most of the time. I tried to reach out to the developers but they haven’t responded. In a lot of ways this app is really great but key functionality like this makes it unusable for my needs.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — label option

*2024-09-29*

This is a very helpful software，but when i using for the keyboard clipboard， i hope have the option to show the label or not，label box takes up too much space。 thank you.

### 5/5 — Windows Clipboard

*2024-01-13*

If you are a windows user looking for a clipboard app, this is it. All the other apps on here calling themselves copy or paste or clipboard are not all all what you are looking for. This is essentially Windows Clipboard but better.

### 5/5 — Feature request

*2023-12-12*

Would it be possible to add a shortcut that allows one to rename an item?

### 5/5 — Love

*2023-10-08*

Love this app, such a great way to organize and archive things you come across online

### 5/5 — Amazing!

*2023-02-14, version 2023.1*

Really happy that the developer keeps improving this helpful app!

### 5/5 — Great app – highly recommended

*2022-06-09, version 2021.7*

Great app, but could you please find a fix for the debris of data (0kb of text files from clipboard data) and the resulting placeholders in the keyboard?
Also, I think the keyboard thumbnails could be even smaller. Just a suggestion, of course.

Big thumbs up for the ability to retain formatting in text. All other apps from the competition stripped it off (I use a lot of bold chars in my texts).

Cheers,
Zan

### 5/5 — A tad misleading?

*2021-06-18*

The small tip option is not available in-app, despite being advertised here in the App Store.

### 5/5 — Well-thought-out app

*2021-06-16, version 2021.4*

Very useful app. IMHO this is much better than anything out there at the moment.
The ability to have shelves (folders) *and* labels gives it tremendous flexibility with lots of customization. The smart shelves is a welcome addition. The UI is clean and simple. I just wish I can play with the theme. I’d like to change the dark red color to something else. But I’m nitpicking now.

### 5/5 — I can’t work without it!

*2021-05-05, version 2021.3*

Warning: this app is addictive—once you set it up and complete the small learning curve, it’s very hard to work without it. Whether you like to save clips while surfing to refer to later, or whether you are taking notes for research, AnyBuffer is a big step-saver. On an iPad With SlideOver mode, AnyBuffer is at its best.

I use it for study of the Scriptures, in slide-over. It’s even replaced the similar function in my Bible study app, for ease of use and because it is so simple to clear the new import tagging function makes it possible to sort.

I have used personal computers for 38 years and everything from Mac to Linux. While function is most important to me with any app, I still become giddy over clipboard apps that are well-designed and pleasing to use. And then I have two thoughts that pop up…(1) I’m excited to imagine where the designer is going with it, and, (2) I hope it is maintained for many years. The developers of AnyBuffer “get” iOS and MacOS. It blends in and plays with the OS so well it begins to feel fully native to the environment.

To the developer—Awesome app!

### 5/5 — Well duh

*2021-03-12, version 2020.17*

Of course this is the best clipboard manager+quick file drawer….Ameba Labs, though small with only a few app offerings, is solid gold. Clean, quick, functional, and the best customer service this side of the walled garden.
