Please update it ### 3/5 — Brilliant designed up however a few core issues *2024-04-10, version 1.6.8* The app is beautifully designed with a very intuitive design. However, there are some issues with the app. A minor issue appear in the profile portion of the app. Which completely blanked with semi visible UI when scrolling. A more critical issue is when trying to assess the pitch accent. It doesn’t count for what is said so I can get a high percentage match without saying the word correctly if I use the right tone. I have one issue that has me confused. If I record some random noises with crazy pitch up and down, it is easy to get above 80% accuracy. Хорошо подойдёт если нужно попрактиковаться в произношении и узнать новые слова. Отдельное спасибо разработчикам за Сленг и Скороговорки п.с. 4 балла за мелкие недоработки. Практика произношения и говорения в русских учебниках оставляет желать лучшего, мне как преподавателю приходится много чего придумывать на ходу. Как только нажимаешь в приложении он посылает в настройки и все. Ни в главном меню настроек в самом списка нет приложений, ни в настройках микрофона и приватности/приложений у которых есть доступ к микрофону его нету( **Developer response:** Спасибо большое за Ваш отзыв! Мы исправили данный баг и в новой версии приложения микрофон работает без проблем. Пожалуйста, обновите приложение до последней версии, чтобы исправить ошибку с микрофоном. Полезное - определенно, однако уровень владения языком должен быть достаточным, чтобы было удобно в записи повторять столь длинные предложения и понимать их суть помимо произношения. Для новичков приложение вряд ли будет необходимостью. Ещё один интересный момент - если запнулся и бросаешь записывать, линия произношения генерируется на все предложение, хоть ты его и не полностью озвучил. И самое неприятное: ждала релиза, купила подписку на месяц и узнала через некоторое время, что стоимость его стала почти в 2 раза ниже 😏 **Developer response:** Спасибо большое за Ваш ценный отзыв! Приложение Aomi Japanese очень полезно не только продолжающим, но и начинающим изучать японский язык. Так как сразу ставит правильное произношение и потом не придётся переучиваться. В приложении много разделов, где можно тренировать одиночные слова (географические названия, сленг, слова катакана, японские фамилии, в справочнике - слова ономатопе, короткие фразы для диалогов и идиомы) Примеры даны для того чтобы узнать как используют эти слова и фразы в жизни, с переводом. I tried absolutely everything to fix the problem, nothing works. There’s better apps *2025-09-13, version 1.7.2* Tried it alongside some over language apps like TEUIDA. This one is horrific. As soon as I tried lesson one it throws sentences at you, not even just one word ones to build up to it. I get the pitch is important but pronunciation of words and saying them correctly has more value. The app could do so much better but I wouldn’t say it’s beginner friendly. Honestly use the many other better apps out there. ### 2/5 — AI based Japanese *2025-07-22, version 1.7.0* I’m a native Japanese. I wanted to see if I can recommend it to my students but unfortunately, the voice is produced by AI, and sentences sounded weird. On the other, I wish that there was just a bit more in the free version and I was disappointed that the app is only checking tone, not pronunciation or what you are actually saying at all (I got 99% by just saying “ahhhhhhh” but matching the tone curve. I think this has a lot of potential, and I hope to be able to update this review in the future with more stars. ### 3/5 — Meh *2024-12-02, version 1.7.0* Seems cool but it constantly tells me I have 0% accuracy when pronouncing. After listening to a native speaker, recording myself, then comparing the two, I can hear the difference much more clearly. I’m also extremely impressed by the app’s ability to draw the pitch accent when I speak, which is so good for visualizing. This app is helping me to train my ear. I see that a lot of the vocabulary words are “coming soon,” so I’m looking forward to more content being added. I just started with Japanese, so I think the first couple of lessons are a little hard for me. I might return to this app after I am intermediate level. ### 5/5 — A Maverick in Japanese Language Study *2022-06-24, version 1.5.3* I shall begin by saying that I have found this to be such an indispensable resource that I have purchased the lifetime subscription, not only to continue having unmitigated access to the app but to support the developers as well. The lessons offered here along with the thorough delineations of the Japanese language and specifically pitch accent are extraordinary. There is currently no other application available that offers such an exhaustive account of Japanese pitch accent. They have included sections for Japanese Phonetics, Slang, Surnames, Geographic Names, and much more. Their methodology is delineated in detail in a section specifically for it. The spoken audio examples are outstanding and allow you to compare your own timbre to that of a native speaker. Initially, my options were between this app and Dogen’s pitch accent course. After careful deliberation, I chose Aomi. I can assure anyone who may be in the same position that I made the correct choice. Dogen’s course can, at times, seem interminable rather than meticulous. For the amount of money that you would spend on his course, you would be better off purchasing a lifetime subscription to Aomi. The team at Aomi have managed to create an exciting learning experience whilst maintaining concise and succinct explanations of concepts. Aomi is the first of its kind, and perhaps the best. ### 5/5 — Good idea but *2022-01-26, version 1.4.5* When there is a long sentence, the text goes onto the next line whilst the pitch spectrometer reading does not. This makes it difficult to tell which parts of the sentence are high/low.
