### 1/5 — App does nothin but direct to web

*2021-07-06, version 2.5.5*

His app does nothing except direct to website. I really expected more.

### 1/5 — I really wanted to love it...

*2021-06-21, version 2.5.5*

I thought Pilot Passport was a great idea - a foursquare-style check-in system to encourage pilots to get out, visit new places, and rack up points in a sort of game.

But much like the show “Whose Line Is It Anyway” the rules are made up and the points don’t matter. Over the last year, I get more “token errors” and “something went wrong” messages than I get successful logons and check-ins. Have deleted and reinstalled, and downloaded each update while holding my breath... no dice.

Friends in Frederick, please put a little more effort into this. It’s got a lot of potential, but the frustrations just keep snowballing.

### 1/5 — Login Repeatedly Refused

*2021-06-18, version 2.5.5*

Despite entering my email amd password exactly as on the website, app repeatedly insists “user name or password incorrect.”

### 1/5 — Practically useless!

*2021-05-28, version 2.5.4*

If you like reading “Oops! Something went wrong. Please try again.” this is the app for you. I tried to search for airports with restaurants and that’s all I get. AOPA, you can do better. Look at the ratings. I recommend you either fix this or pull it.

### 1/5 — This is awful - bring back AOPA GO!!!!

*2021-05-20, version 2.5.4*

Whoever thought this should replace GO should be fired. This is almost worthless. Not a pilot app.

If I could give it less than star I would.

### 1/5 — Just not worth the effort

*2021-05-04, version 2.5.4*

I used AOPA Go as my go-to weather app for flight planning even though I plan on ForeFlight. Now that it's been officially retired, I've really tried this inadequate replacement. There are very few native features and you get pushed to a website to try and view wx images...I'll pass. Foreflight Wx just caught a huge break

### 2/5 — Passport is frustrating

*2021-04-11, version 2.5.4*

I find it frustrating that I fly into remote airports, Death Valley for example, and passport can’t get a signal or something and hence I can’t check in, when I get whatever it’s missing it tells me I’m too far away. I have 6 times this has happened. It’s no fun if the app isn’t developed to work at every airport in database.
I love how AOPA provides this app but still it’s frustrating.

### 1/5 — Everything you click on just redirects you a safari .

*2021-04-02, version 2.5.4*

This app is pointless. Whenever you click on something it redirects you to the AOPA website which defeats the purpose of having the app.

### 2/5 — Sad

*2021-02-12, version 2.5.3*

For a bare bones app AOPA GO worked. This one launches your browser pages to go find stuff. Stuff but for WX should be on the app. The subscription price being what it is I don’t except for flight and all the features I don’t use but a bare bones flight bag would be nice to use with a map or to decide if your going to the airport.

### 1/5 — Token error repair

*2021-02-10, version 2.5.3*

Installed the new fix to repair the token error. Same problem today. So much for the fix

### 2/5 — Not sure if this is for pilots

*2021-01-23, version 2.5.2*

No direct link to notams, can’t select default metal/taf in raw view, can’t save multiple settings or save settings, a lot of info is online and I fly often in areas with no cell service. Great for sitting at home, but not useable in the plane.

### 1/5 — Too much fluff weather and directory are terrible

*2021-01-10, version 2.5.2*

I loved the old AOPA Go app for airport directory and weather info. Basic layout easy to navigate even when in the air. Now that app stopped working so I have to use this app. I’m greeted with advertising on an app that we pay for through our membership! I go to weather and it launches safari and wants me to log in again. Sure I can save my info but goodbye quick weather and directory info. I appreciate they are trying to be more engaging with this app but why dump the old one? It just worked I can’t imagine it required that much work to keep it up to date.

### 2/5 — Poor replacement for AOPA Go

*2020-12-22, version 2.5.2*

From just OK to worst, as a replacement for AOPA go this is very sad. Clearly it is the website utilizing scaled graphics and menus for a mobile device that requires unnecessary levels of manual navigation and user input, not easily accomplished on a smart phone. AOPA Should have known better.

### 1/5 — Would like to like this app, but...

*2020-11-23, version 2.5.2*

At first glance it seems great. But then it just keeps logging you out so you can’t check in without doing a full login every time.

The bigger issue however is the airport directory. It just doesn’t work. No matter what I put into the search (even just leaving it empty) returns no results.

### 2/5 — Constant log in issues

*2020-11-17, version 2.5.1*

I don’t know what protocol set up you guys have with this app, but it seems to spend so much effort each time I open it just to make sure my log in and password is correct that I’m getting sick of watching a prop turn.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Why not tell people the app is discontinued??

*2024-07-13*

Instead of disclosing in the app description or version information that this app is actually discontinued, they wait until you download it and then give you a message saying it’s not functional. This violates Apple guidelines.

### 1/5 — Worthless App

*2024-06-02*

This app eats up 6.4 GB of space on my iPad for nothing. Downloaded all airport data and procedures so I can access them when outside of WiFi connection. Only to find that the app will not allow you to view downloaded airports and info without internet connection. ???????????
Makes absolutely no sense. Hope AOPA dues did not get wasted on the programming of this app.

### 1/5 — A redirect app in 2023???

*2023-08-28*

This app has very little inside it. Instead you’ll constantly be redirected to a web browser experience - which defeats the purpose of an app. Redirects. Duplicate log-ins. Just painful.

### 1/5 — AOPA is a direct marketing company

*2022-07-10, version 2.6.0*

AOPA is simply a direct marketing company that has a captive audience of pilots.
Their main purpose is selling pilot's personal information to third parties.
25-50% of the spam, junk mail, and unsolicited phone calls you get, is directly related to your AOPA membership.
They don't care if you don't want to be barraged with junk mail, spam, and marketing calls.
I was a member for 10 years and left due to their non-stop spamming and telemarketing calls from companies that AOPA sold my information to. Like the company founded by convicted felons (LifeLock) who purchased the AOPA membership list from AOPA in order to send junk mail, spam, and telemarketing calls.

### 1/5 — Dependent on Location Data

*2022-06-26, version 2.6.0*

The app is pretty useless unless you feed it location data.

### 1/5 — Not ready for public use

*2022-05-14, version 2.5.9*

They either released this without testing or on accident. AOPA advertises the app in their magazine but very few things work. The airport directory seems cool, but pressing the search button does nothing. Just a blank map. AOPA needs to hire a real development team and test before releasing. It looks great but has zero functionality.

### 1/5 — Redirect redirect redirect

*2022-04-30, version 2.5.8*

Redirect redirect redirect

### 1/5 — User name or password incorrect

*2022-01-18, version 2.5.7*

Entered my username and password, all I get is a message stating that my username and password are incorrect. I checked and double checked, and it is correct.

### 1/5 — Tear my hair out

*2022-01-09, version 2.5.7*

Very little works and most of what does has defects that will make a sane pilot crazy. It doesn’t recognize me as a member and won’t let me change an old home airport. Weather is wonky. Flight planning won’t let me on. There is no HOME selection from the tiny Menu hamburger. It simply needs to be pulled and beta tested before my beloved AOPA starts to look like a tone deaf gov’t agency.

### 1/5 — Still broken

*2021-12-19, version 2.5.7*

Thought I’d try it again…I love the idea. Always looking for new places to go and reasons to go fly. But your database of amenities is poor, shows no food within 200 miles of my location, not true. And anytime I try to check in, I just get either a too far, or oops something happened message. I realize its free, but free and doesn’t work isn’t compelling.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great app

*2021-02-25, version 2.5.3*

I liked the Go app, however this is a great replacement with more options.

### 4/5 — Cant Check In

*2020-11-17, version 2.5.1*

On the pilot passport I have been getting “token error” over and over again. Please look into a fix.

### 4/5 — Good with small bugs

*2019-05-19, version 1.6.1*

Good app so far. I wish you did not need to log in every time you open it though. Or at least for 30 days or so after signing in once

**Developer response:** Hi inkdo, Thank you for your feedback on the AOPA app. We do offer users the option to Continue as a Guest and not log into the app. What you describe is not the expected behavior, so this may be a bug that we need to address. We will take this up with our development team. Thank you. ~AOPA app support

### 4/5 — yeah - what he said!

*2017-10-03, version 1.1.0*

...landscape view has now been added - thank you!

### 3/5 — Update-Working now

*2019-09-24, version 2.0.0*

Loved the app but your latest update broke all pilot passport functionally can’t share on Twitter if I can’t check in at all. Receive a “Oops, something went wrong. Please try again later.” Message every time I try to check on or open my pilot passport info. Logged out and in again a few times. Tried deleting the app and reinstalling. No luck. It’s broken...... Please fix.
Update- seems to have fixed itself. Maybe a stuck electron since there’s been no additional update to the app released.

### 3/5 — Password not autofilling on iOS

*2019-07-02, version 1.8.1*

Tried logging in today & my stored password would not fill despite many attempts. Pretty sure most of us don’t memorize passwords anymore so we store them on vaults like iPhones have. Works perfectly on most apps but not this one at least today. Must fix.

### 3/5 — Landscape orientation, please!

*2017-08-19, version 1.0.1*

I mean, c'mon: we're in 2017 ... we use iPads ... nobody puts out iPhone, portrait-only apps any longer.

### 2/5 — Ooops! Something went wrong.

*2023-08-10*

Four years in, and this app is still unstable. Pretty much the only reason to use it is for the pilot passport feature, which would be more fun if it were well designed. Want to filter out places you’ve already been? Good luck; it’s the *other* map interface, the sneakily hidden one. Yes, there are two.

Designed by and for septuagenarians; not terribly surprising GA is dying off.

### 2/5 — Not a Finished App

*2022-06-04, version 2.5.9*

The app is mostly a collection of links that opens their website. The airport map is useful and the search worked well for me once I downloaded the maps. To be clear I like AOPA and this app is new. I expect it will improve but for now it’s not quite there.

### 2/5 — Token Errors

*2021-08-09, version 2.5.6*

App has way to many Token Errors. Very frustrating to use. Mostly I have quit using. Just checked back again and guess what? Token Errors. AOPA App developers just need to fix this!
