## What is AOS?

Authorship order on a paper can turn into the most awkward conversation in research — who did "enough" to be first author, second, or senior author? Authorship Order Score (AOS) takes the politics out of it by scoring every contributor against a validated, published academic instrument instead of gut feel or seniority.

For each co-author, rate their involvement — None, Partial, or Full — across the 13 criteria of the Authorship Order Score, a tool developed and validated through a three-round Delphi study and a cross-sectional survey of 132 faculty members (Masud et al., Health Professions Education, 2020). The 13 items span every phase of a research project — Conception, Planning, Execution, and Writing & Publication — each weighted by how strongly the validation study's participants agreed it matters. The app does the math for you, live, and instantly ranks every author from highest to lowest score to suggest a fair byline order.
