### 4/5 — Balanced perspective

*2015-05-29, version 6.61*

Just wanted to respond to the post that claims that the APA was involved in unethical torture practices. This is only true to the extent that a couple of its top members were contracted by the government. Since then, APA has removed those members and has made clear statements about the use of psychology in torture. In fact, the most recent addition to the ethics code states that inhumane practices as grounds for discipline. Don't demonize APA because a couple humans made bad decisions.

The Monitor isn't a bad publication. It scratches the surface of psychological research and events. Not a bad tool for a practicing clinician.

### 4/5 — Newsstand

*2014-01-03, version 6.42*

Make this a newsstand app so it can sit in the same place as the other magazine apps I have.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Unable to save to books

*2024-07-24, version 51.0*

I like to safe to books in case to app goes dark, and I can read valuable articles for future use. I’m unable to do so with the app.

### 1/5 — Would be nice if if worked

*2017-03-27, version 35*

No matter how many times I've downloaded a particular issue, when I go back to read something in it, I have to download the same issue again!

What's the point of this app???

### 1/5 — Beware - APA IS UNETHICAL

*2015-01-11, version 6.61*

This publication is created by an organization that supported the use of torture under the Bush administration. They don't represent the views of most psychologists. Take everything you read with a grain of salt, and notice that they don't talk about their own unethical behavior in its pages. This app/publication is a waste of time.

### 2/5 — Good content, poor app

*2019-04-04, version 46*

I truly appreciate the attempt to provide a means to access this content in digital form, but the implementation simply doesn’t work very well. My primary complaint is that it seems impossible to download any of the issues to one’s local device; if you close the app, the user is forced to re-download the issue. What is even worse is that attempts to contact support about app problems go completely unanswered. Has this app been abandoned by APA?

### 2/5 — Promising but...

*2013-02-22, version 5.4*

Great idea in theory having access to the Monitor, however the app itself is way too slow, buggy, and locks up. Too frustrating to use until they work the kinks out. I'll check back later until them I'll have together my Psy fix elsewhere.

### 2/5 — Hmmm

*2013-01-28, version 5.2*

It is nice to have free access to psychology articles but the interface its really slow and buggy, and overall flawed, i have faith that some updates might make this a usable app

### 3/5 — Log-in issues

*2022-10-28, version 51.0*

I have an APA membership, but seem to be having trouble signing into my account without much of a workaround.

### 4/5 — Wish it was working

*2026-05-01, version 51.0*

Love the app and the podcasts. It hasn’t been working though. Hopefully it gets fixed

### 4/5 — Great

*2020-05-24*

Good articles

### 4/5 — Finally!

*2020-03-25, version 48.2*

I’ve been waiting a truly useful APA app! It’s user friendly, fast, and smooth in navigation. Please keep as is :) S/O to Psych Club at TAMUCC!

Legible, popular and journalistic tone

### 5/5 — It works!

*2013-09-01, version 6.2*

It works fine and loads quickly. Some magazine Apps work fine, like Fortune, while others are a disaster, like Consumer Reports. Perhaps they should hire the same programmers.

### 5/5 — Great App!!!

*2012-12-19, version 5.2*

This is sweet. The app is so easy to use, and allows you to download past issues. I won't have to worry about missing issues I've not had the chance to read. Thank you APA for making it so convenient.

### 5/5 — A great psychology magazine

*2012-11-21, version 5.2*

I enjoy reading the stories on new research findings, treatments for mental illnesses and other cutting edge applications of psychology.
