### 3/5 — Great app with one horrible flaw

*2026-06-02*

As long as no mistakes are made, the app is great and much easier than paper scoring. It’s great, except…

There should be a practice mode where new players, or people like me that fear messing stuff up and interfering with the flow of play, can learn how to use the editing and correction interfaces while in the safety and comfort of their own home. As it is, the only time someone can learn to use these features is when something has gone wrong and play has stopped and everyone is looking at you. When this happens to me, I usually end up tracking one of the kids down and asking them to fix it.

Despite me being a retired software engineer reasonably competent with computers, I am not confident in editing during a match even after using it several sessions. Admittedly the younger folk catch on quickly. Even so, a practice mode would be useful for being able to teach new scorekeepers.

Please add this feature!

**Developer response:** Hey Keith, we really appreciate your feedback! We agree and are working on a practice mode. Let us know if you have any other suggestions for us and our team. We look forward to your feedback once this feature is released!

### 3/5 — Great, but…

*2026-02-26, version 1.14.43*

Love the concept of being able to keep score electronically however, why isn’t the scorekeeper app set up to keep track of dead balls? Those are huge part of the score…

### 3/5 — Needs Apple Watch support

*2026-02-17, version 1.14.43*

Would be great if we could see the current team score and individual score on a watch while playing a match rather than having to ask the scorekeeper what the score is and how many balls I need to make to win.

### 4/5 — Feature

*2026-01-28, version 1.14.43*

I really fill like the app has come a long way but the app needs a practice feature so teams can run mock games for practice

### 4/5 — Overall good with some functionality needs

*2025-10-29*

The app has come a long way over the years. There is still work to do on improving the experience though.

One really crucial thing is being balero delete a rack if you accidentally start a match. Sometimes someone accidentally starts a player match that shouldn’t be started and it needs to be deleted (not reset). For example, a match that is actually a forfeit or if a match is started in the wrong order and needs to be deleted so the correct throwing order is there. Deleting matches needs to be a thing!

### 2/5 — Dead balls in 9ball

*2025-09-11, version 1.14.39*

We just started using this app this week. So far the only issue I have is that I can’t see the balls we marked as dead. It would be great if we could see how many we had marked as dead. Would also be nice to have who lagged on the page that you are keeping score on so we can see it

### 4/5 — Getting better but big flaw

*2025-09-09, version 1.14.39*

The app is getting better all the time. But it should not allow 2 teams to be scoring the same match with different player names. Seems like a basic function.

### 4/5 — Could be better…

*2025-09-01*

Love not having to deal with printing out paper copies and trying to decipher handwriting! (LOL and scorekeepers/players are a lot more careful about spilling beverages when there’s a phone or tablet involved!) However, from a captain’s perspective, there’s an advantage to using scoresheets that has been lost since moving to the app. It would be extremely useful to be able to look back at matches and review individual/team performance data. If we’re tracking innings, defensive shots, time outs, and game outcome (scratch, snap on the break, early 8, etc) we should be able to review and use that data to help our players improve and inform our decision making in future competitions. Also, regarding game outcome…why do we not track ball count in 8-ball? IMO knowledge of how your players have performed when they’ve LOST a match is just as important, if not MORE, than when they’ve won! 😉

**Developer response:** Thank you so much for your feedback! We have forwarded this review to our team. We realize some data seems lost when scoring in the app versus paper and we're working to bridge any foreseen data gaps. Let us know what you think as we continue to improve the app and contact our Support Team directly at support@poolplayers.zendesk.com with any additional thoughts😁️🎱️Have a great Fall Session!

### 2/5 — Unnecessary update

*2025-08-28*

The latest update added no new efficency and has made things more difficult. It was better when the player who was at the table had their name in large font above the balls. The blue highlighting vs. gray does nothing. In addition, the new position of innings is inefficient. Having the innings between the players' scores (as before) rather than below the left player's score made cross-checking scorekeeping easier. I see no improvements.

A recommended addition is having the sum of skill levels you have played so far displayed so you have less math to do to figure out who can play the last few matches

**Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback and suggestion. This is being taken into consideration by our Tech Team.

### 3/5 — Slick but less than it could be

*2025-08-26*

The latest update ruins the summary page for me, in that a whole night’s worth of games won’t fit on a single screenshot. :-)
But like another reviewer said, the app could be so much more. It could give you stats on how many balls you made in a row, shot percentage, how the match progressed, safety success, your history with specific opponents, etc. etc. Look no further than Pool Scoreboard app (which I used before this one came along) for all of those features and more.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback & suggestions for the app's improvement. We appreciate you, have a great session!

### 3/5 — Glitch

*2025-08-04, version 1.14.37*

I just updated this app yesterday and it now won’t keep score correctly. When I mark the last ball made on 9ball, it shows the check mark on the ball but it won’t add that ball to the score. I had to go back to the previous game, then move forward to the current game to get the ball recognized and scored.

### 3/5 — More match summary info needed from app

*2025-07-11, version 1.14.33*

Scorekeeper app does not list 8OB and 9OS in final stats match stats. Forces captain to write notes down for patches, but may miss these if Captain/co-captain are playing at the time. Better match summary needed. Would be great if the app automatically filled in an electronic version of the paper scoresheet for review.

### 4/5 — Cool app!!

*2025-05-29*

The app is really nice. I keep score most of the time for our teams. The following info is based on questions asked of me after we have finished a match or submission of the scoresheets:
For 9-ball I would love to see the total points each player had in each match. People ask after their match has ended, but I have moved on to the next match. I have to open the match and add the points for each game to get those points. And we can’t see it at all after it has been submitted.
For 8-ball, it would be nice to see how many games each player won after the scoresheets have been submitted.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your rating & feedback🤩️Have a great time & let us know when you have additional ideas for us. We'd love to earn 5 stars from you!

### 4/5 — Demo / practice mode

*2025-05-20, version 1.14.31*

Love the app, but I would really like to have a practice mode. To be able to score a fake game and then try to make corrections. You might think you idiot proofed the app, but god creates better idiots each day…

### 4/5 — Better than paper

*2025-02-28, version 1.14.29*

It would really be great if in the app you could see whos current shooting. Like add a little 8/9 ball icon above the players name who shooting. Other than that the only negative is issues with the app not working often

### 4/5 — New Features that would be universally loved:

*2024-10-23*

Since its inception, SK has been a game changer. It’s intuitive and helpful to say the least. Here are some bonus features that I’ve heard throughout our league’s divisions:
1. Division Scoreboard.
Whether showing live results or next morning team submitted scores, knowing how your division’s teams did would be fun and helpful, not having to wait for many days to see results.
2. Practice Match Scoring
Entering player info for a head-to-head practice match is a popular request as I have read, and it also desired by many in my own division.
3. Editing team with unique avatar/logo.
This would be another fun visual bonus, giving teams the choice to express identities.

All ideas to promote the game and the APA, who really does the best job growing this sport and making it entertaining.

**Developer response:** Thank you so much for your suggestions! I have passed this on to our team. We do have the practice game feature on the horizon as well as some other new features. We hope to earn that fifth star from you! Have a great time and let us know if we may be of any assistance to you or your teammates.

### 2/5 — Practice!?

*2024-08-11, version 1.14.25*

WHY would you develop an app that doesn’t allow you to set up your own practice APA matches that don’t get turned in to anyone? How else am I supposed to learn to use the app except during a real match? Not the best time to be learning. This is just stupid.

### 2/5 — Achieves minimum requirements

*2024-06-27, version 1.14.24*

The app does the minimum. That said there are many ways this app can be improved for ease of use. There are certain quality of life items that can be adjusted, and mainly the editing of matches needs drastic improvement; lots of work-arounds needed.

If I can speak to the developers directly, I can provide feedback as well as QA

### 4/5 — Nice, but some missed opportunities

*2024-06-26*

Our leage just started using this and overall it's pretty slick as far as scoring goes. One note is that if you forget to mark table size, the app doesn't warn you before submitting scores.
However, the app leaves some to be desired as far as record keeping. The summary leaves a lot of things out, like the players' skill levels, exact points, and you can't see how the game progressed like you can on paper scoring. 8/9 on the snap or break-and-run is logged, but not shown in summary either.
APA could take a few inspirations from the excellent scoring app Pool Scoreboard, which will show you some nice stats at the end of a match, including progression to goal, max number of points in an inning, shot percentage, etc.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Version 1.14.38

*2025-08-20, version 1.14.38*

This unannounced UI update is absolutely horrible… DO NOT UPDATE UNLESS FORCED

### 1/5 — Broken unusable

*2025-01-14, version 1.14.28*

Blue screen won’t load. Useless

### 1/5 — The app won’t open

*2024-11-07, version 1.14.26*

I’ve been trying. Deleting and downloading.

### 1/5 — Glitchy and unfortunate

*2024-08-01*

This app has some issues. Freezing up and getting kicked out of games while scoring. On average at least 5+ times a night. If you don’t have good service or wifi it causes a problem.
Some of our older players or tech knowledgeably challenged players will end up quitting because this is to overwhelming for them. This has also taken away from the social aspect for some of us that have to now keep score because others can’t.
Having to stare at a screen keeping score screws up my eyesight and can’t see to play pool. More work then fun…. Unfortunate👎🏻

**Developer response:** Oh no! We're sorry that the app is not an improvement to your overall League experience. We've passed on your feedback to our team. Please let us know if you need any assistance at any time. We appreciate you taking the time to let us know.

### 1/5 — Not as useful as a physical scoresheet

*2023-05-13*

I have to admit that the app is easy to use.
But it does not allow you to review any data on the individual matches as the game is being played. And after you submit your scores you no longer have access to any information about the match. I want more data than who won a match, how many individual games each player won and how many points were earned. I want to see how many innings there were in each game. I want to see how many defense shots there were. Eights on the break. Early 8. Scratch on 8. I want to see all of that data for each match. And we cannot. With the sheet system I would share this information with the team and we could refer to them whenever we can. And based on the layout of the app you can’t even take screen shots of all the information. It’s easy to use but isn’t plater useful in my opinion.

**Developer response:** Hi HVJNYC, thank you for your review and feedback. We very much appreciate you taking the time to submit it and have forwarded it on to our Development Team. If you have any additional suggestions please let us know, we'd love to earn a better rating and improve our app. Have a great session and feel free to reach out directly to us at (636)625-8611 x5408

### 1/5 — Hate It!!

*2023-01-11, version 1.14.0*

The app do s nothing but cause me to get angry because it’s unreliable. I’m almost read to quit okaying APA because we are forced to use the app. It ruins my night if fun. No joke!

### 1/5 — Saddest timeline I’ve ever seen

*2022-12-15, version 1.14.0*

As a software engineer I can say the fact that this still hasn’t been rolled out yet in all areas for all players is ridiculous. This isn’t rocket surgery, make a score keeping app for pool…

### 1/5 — Crashes

*2022-09-08, version 1.12.12*

Please fix crashing problems it just loads and loads.
It is not a response of program.
We need to respond for a fast pace game..

### 1/5 — New update has bugs

*2022-08-26, version 1.12.12*

New updated version has a bug with the score keeping on the 8 ball module. Loaded.load() function is responding with a null value

### 1/5 — Freezing

*2022-08-18, version 1.11.7*

Never fails. App works ok for first match and then starts freezing and not working. Have to have a team member take over and then it freezes on them. Great idea and a huge time saver when it works but i have at least 1 or 2 issues every week

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Must-Have App for APA Players ⭐

*2026-07-16*

Great app! After years of using paper score sheets, this has made keeping score so much easier. I’d love to see it expanded to support more local APA events like Qualifiers, Regionals, MVP tracking, and Captain/Co-Captain roles. A player history and career stats section (wins/losses, innings, defensive shots, skill level history, break-and-runs, mini slams, and match history) would take this app to the next level. It has the potential to become the go-to app for every APA player. 🎱

**Developer response:** Hey DJ! Thanks for your feedback & 5 stars! We appreciate you and your participation - have a great week😁️🎱

### 5/5 — So much easier than the paper score sheets!

*2025-08-22*

Devs: Please see new notes at bottom

The app does what it’s designed to do. Nobody in either division I play in has had technical issues with the app. It’s mostly intuitive, though I do have to ask someone how to correct a mistake (okay, a few different mistakes 🤪). The mistakes are def user errors.

Having someone sit with you as you use it the first time helps — just like we had to learn on paper sheets.

Overall, it’s great to use!

Suggested enhancement: I’d love to be able to see more details of matches.

ETA: Hi Dev Team:
I had league pool last night, and learned they are still using paper for a couple of things not available in the app, but would be great enhancements:

1. Notes about dues, like who’s paying when or whatever.

2. Notifications about makeup matches. Sometimes teams agree to make up a match because someone is out

Also, had first glitch last night. User error, but needs a way for user to resolve correctly.
*9-ball
*Marked a ball incorrectly, but didn’t see it until a couple of turns later.
*Tapped to go back to that turn to correct
* Maybe went too many turns back, or I don’t know what
*Modal said something like I’d already gone back to that turn. (??)
*Tapped OK or whatever 🤪
*Everything was then grayed out. Couldn’t select “go back to A’s turn” or continue with the current turn.
*Exited the all completely and restarted. Same result.
*Third time a charm, I guess, because then I did it correctly, I suppose?

Bottom line is that there is a way for user to create a scenario where only option is to exit out and re-start the app.

I think maybe I went back too many turns? I think we were in 3rd or 4th and I wanted to change 1st or second. It was at least two turns.

Hope you see this update! :) (Still 5 *****) This is one of those understandable/expected bugs 🐞 that come up.

**Developer response:** Thanks for your 5 stars & feedback! You can edit a match by selecting the match and drilling down into games to change who made a ball. Please email our Support Team at support@poolplayers.zendesk.com for detailed support. They will be happy to look into any issues and answer questions you may have. Have a great session!

### 5/5 — Great App.

*2025-06-05, version 1.14.31*

Great App. Not sure why people complaining. Go score with paper if you aren’t happy. Thanks.

I would ask to use preferred nickname for Scorekeepers Name or give the user the option. Thank you.

### 5/5 — Development suggestion

*2025-05-16*

The app is great! Very easy to use and way better than the old paper way of keeping score. Three suggestions for dev:

1. Make available per player payment option or total. So if five matches are entered, split total due into five or pay all, etc.
2. Roll call for available players for each game night that’s viewable to both teams so we can know what we are walking into each game night.
3. Team chat area.

**Developer response:** Hi! We appreciate you taking the time to submit your suggestions - awesome! We are working on a couple of these features for an upcoming release, and will take your #2 idea to our next collaboration😁️Have a great week!

### 5/5 — Better than paper

*2025-05-03*

Maybe its because im young but I like the app. There are a few things that were not clear like how to edit an inning or a match but I figured it out. Could yall add a ball count for 9 ball? It seems the level balls needed are already there and all the balls are counted. So all that you’d need to do is: players balls needed - balls pocketed = balls needed to win

**Developer response:** Thanks for your review & 5 stars!! If you have any questions check out our short tutorials on our YouTube page or the help section on poolplayers.com 😊️Thanks again!
