Where things fall apart is for non-scheduled/ACMI operators without a domicile (e.g., home-based pilots). Granted it’s a niche part of the pilot community but wreaks havoc with the software’s algorithms when acclimated rest locations factor into computing legality. The software will assume you have returned to your home “base” whether you actually do or not during a rotation. There’s no workaround for this. Also, companies using next-gen AIMS rostering software are out of luck for importing schedules. APDL does not support the new AIMS version. On the positives, there are ample opportunities for customized payroll and duty categories, rigs, etc. Scheduled Part 121 operators are most likely to benefit from APDL. It’ll change dates for flights and has become a HUGE headache keeping everything straight with it. OOOI times for examine are great. But the fact they have a separate app for general logbooks really robs this one. The reports are very bland and the print logbook lacks options for different formats eg CASA. I wish that I had a different logbook service all together at this point. Other apps cost a tiny fraction and have 80% of the features. Than to buy a different application and export a file. ### 2/5 — Great product that lacks key features with current price *2021-08-04, version 10.0.0* Long time user that eventually switched to LogTen Pro. I’ve been a APDL user since 2018 until this year once my subscription expires. APDL has some great features that I loved such as the Part 117 rest rules calculation, schedule import from Flica until it stopped working, pay calculations (one of my favorite features), however I was holding out for one key feature, a sync feature with logbook pro. Once the price gone up this year to a point that nearly matched LogTen Pro that offers the ability to sync between devices, I no longer couldn’t justify to the expensive cost to stay with APDL. On top of that, there isn’t the ability to calculate Part 121 rest with APDL or couldn’t import my AIMs schedule into APDL. My biggest feedback, start working on a sync feature with logbook pro even if means updating that application as well otherwise APDL is overpriced in comparison to its competitors. ### 1/5 — Great App but to Expensive *2021-04-22, version 10.0.0* I loved this app but it has gotten way to expensive. Please! ### 3/5 — App error and customer service ignored me *2021-01-22, version 10.0.0* Some reason keep having issues and customer service were good until my whole logbook started giving errors. I emailed customer service for assistance and they do help right away. I got a line and unfortunately we don’t have FLICA for our bidding schedule and is one way to transfer your whole monthly schedule to APDL. If you don’t have FLICA, then they have other ways but got to do it one day at a time and sometime it doesn’t even transfer all legs. If you have a 4legs day, then sometime it will only transfer, to APDL logbook, 1 leg instead all 4. Then you have to copy and paste that works but sometimes it doesn’t even find the trips. I do like a lot of features that it has like: track your 117 rules, changes automatically to flight times if there are delays and many other cool feature. Great customer service but the app needs work to make it work smooth and not me spending time putting FDP, flts info, manually. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Beware *2025-03-30, version 14.1.0* Paid for it with the impression that I could try for 30 days. Apparently the trial period is a different link. Lots of email threads showing how I couldn’t get it to work any better than manually inserting logbook data and the completely refuse to refund money. Sternly advise any other program. ### 1/5 — Dishonest Owner *2024-12-31, version 14.1.0* The owner refused to refund what was ordered by mistake. He told me I shouldn't have ordered it. True enough, but HORRIBLE customer service. I’ve tried the reset process to recover my account but I never received any reset email from them even though I’ve requested a reset several times They don’t accept email, they don’t have a phone number, They want you to use their help desk, but when I try to register or recover my account. It’s the same thing, no email to reset, or http 500 error unable to process new account… So I’ve lost 10 years of flights using this app..l. I don’t plan on renewing and I’m going to stop using this app… ### 1/5 — It’s great when it works, but way to buggy *2023-12-14, version 12.0.0* As long as you update your logbook everyday you won’t have a problem but if you wait a bit and then update it APDL gets buggy and you’ll choose a day such as nov 15th but APDL will automatically put the date in that you open the app with and you can’t change it. So if you fly on the 15th and open the app on the 22nd no matter what day you specify on the calendar it lists the flight as occurring on the 22nd and won’t let you change it. Then after going back and forth closing opening the app and deleting log book entries it starts to work correctly. Just get an excel spreed sheet or use something else. ### 1/5 — Not Worth The Money *2023-11-11, version 11.5.0* I’ve been using APDL for years. Last year I got a year subscription, and it just came up for renewal. The price went from $12.99/mo last year to $38.99/mo? Are we kidding? One star just for that, when they’ve not added anything new since then. Take notes from FC View, because they’re stealing your client base. ### 1/5 — I tried it. Gave it my best shot, no avail. *2023-04-05, version 11.5.0* As an airline pilot and seeing another pilot use this app, I had high hopes. Downloading and trying to get understand all its capabilities was somewhat of a challenge. There is NO human support. You can figure it out on your own or “watch their videos” or view their “support” docs. None of which I found 100% useful to solve my getting up to speed problems with the product. Shame too. There should be an option for which part you’re operating under, 117 or 121. We can't thank our airline pilot community enough for their great support of this product. ### 5/5 — A Whole Bag of Tools for the Airline Pilot *2024-12-01, version 14.1.0* I’ve been using using APDL for 5+ years across two airlines (regional and major) and I’ve the wide variety of tools available in APDL extremely useful in keeping my logbook accurate and up to date, complying with FAR 117, and commuting. Logbook - trip importing has been very easy for both airlines—simply using Safari and the included APDL toolkit. Once you’ve completed a flight, an “AUTOFILL” button pulls the OOOI times and auto calculates day/night flight time and landings. All you have to input is PF/PM role (for landing credit), actual instrument time, and approach type. Maintaining an accurate logbook can’t get easier than this. Updating the APDL flight data as you fly them enables accurate FAR 117 tracking and “What If” scenarios (delayed flights) as you fly each day. I download my APDL data after each calendar month and import it into my logbook using the Logbook Pro Import Wizard—about a 2 minute process. FAR 117 - I came closer to FAR 117 limits during my flying at my regional airline and this APDL capability was critical three times to calculate daily FDP and 100/672 flight time remaining. The FAR 117 reporting provides Table A and B limits highlighted for that day’s reporting time and flight segment requirements. APDL’s FAR 117 reports are helpful providing daily status graphs and data for every FAR 117 requirement—and look forward using imported future trip schedules to see potential upcoming problems. Commuting flight information - I found this feature very helpful during my 8 months commuting with my major airline. In the APDL settings, you input the minimum time between your commute in flight and you first trip leg takeoff and between your last leg landing and your commute trim home. Then APDL will find ALL 121 airline direct commute options. APDL keeps this information available to review so you can determine if you’re going to make your commute flight home depending on your last leg landing time. APDL has a number of other useful tools including notes sections for hotels, airports and other crew members; payroll; weather; airport delays; and resumes. Between my two airlines, I’ve found t APDL’s wide variety of tools very useful, and in some situations, critical. ### 5/5 — Essential tool for professionals *2022-06-16, version 10.0.0* I toyed with APDL a few times and always gave it up as it appeared too complicated. My First Officer a few trips back demonstrated the app to me. It’s now a must go item in my iPhones “flight bag.” It pulls tail numbers and flight times without me doing a thing. I finally understand FAR 117 with the excellent graphics and warnings generated. The commuter function is highly useful - it knows your scheduled in time and sets your commuting flights based on the city pairs you tell it. Questions are answered promptly by the developer. I am so happy to find this software back and improved for my iPhone. I absolutely love this software. It makes keeping track of my flying and my legalities so simple. With a few swipes I can see if the scheduling change will make me illegal or not. Keep up the great work guys!!! If I forget to log a flight the autofill option pulls in my tail and times for me. Also the 117 legality tracking has saved me a couple times and allowed me to be proactive with crew scheduling. ### 5/5 — Great app for airline pilots but needs more reports *2020-12-22, version 10.0.0* This is a great app that provides many conveniences and tracking to help you keep out of trouble when getting close to a time-out. I like the automatic scheduler update, and the auto pulls to record push, out and in times. I really like the dashboard screen which provides the next show time, gate, and even route. It also provides the TAF for the departing and destination airport. It’s a nice glimpse for the next flight. I would rate this app higher if it had better reporting. Reports like creating the 8710 report. Reports by aircraft, and .CSV exports for expanded reporting capability into Excel. ### 5/5 — Older device can’t update *2020-09-25, version 9.3.0* The update feature should give you the option to update your device, otherwise the device has a RED notice to update which will never go away. I love seeing the gate I’m leaving and the one I’m arriving in. I love getting my aircraft tail numbers before I show up anywhere. I love pushing a button and getting my OOOI times automatically. Don’t waste your time missing countless hours because you forgot to write them down on a quick turn. Get this app. I had LogTen pro and switched to this and I’m glad I did.
