## What is apeDelay?

apeDelay - spectral Delay implements up to 2048 delay lines with feedback or up to 2048 Brick-wall filters. The algorithm is based on the STFT (i.e. Short Time Fourier Transform) analysis/re-synthesis. The audio signal is converted in abstract ‘Frequency Domain’, where is manipulated and transformed back again in ‘Time Domain’. You can draw the Time and Feedback shapes for both stereo channels. This is achieved from the multi sliders, who provide a great tool to manage the huge numbers of parameters. You can also benefit of more advanced spectral manipulations like the Spectral Blur, Granulate, Bins Decimator, Noise Gate, Spectral Freeze and Brick-wall filters.

Stands out from other delays on this platform, and there is not much to compare directly on desktop, either, though there are other spectral delays and very good ones. The hands-on-screen approach with this one guarantees its distinctiveness, and the broad feature set - including its sampler and dynamics control - makes special results (from sublime to ridiculous) easy to achieve with some patient massaging. Familiarity with either spectral processing or Apesoft products will speed the orientation process. Best to read the documentation in any case, since noisy results can follow poking and prodding the app without understanding what it does.

Once the user finds the handles, this little tool can make all sorts of beauty.
