### 2/5 — Charging but:

*2025-10-09, version 1.4.2*

This charger and its app need some developer attention as it’s not possible to start delayed charging with the card or an app if there is no program set in the app. If I set delayed charge on my car and start the charger now charger will switch off after 30min and never charge my car. You have to set program in the app but then the charger will be ON regardless who will plug the cable in. Second issue is the cable not getting locked in the charger after locking the car if you will not start charging immediately. It’s only locked while charging. Other than that it’s working so far.

### 2/5 — Basic and missing a key element

*2025-07-19, version 1.3.9*

We were offered a ‘new’ apex charger when our 3yr old Project Ev charger developed a fault. Whilst the old project Ev was fairly basic it worked every time for plug and play or timed etc.
This apex app appears ‘cheap’ and basic and not intuitive at all. It only allows one price point for elec so if you have an Ev tariff with two prices it’s either inaccurate the day or in the night.

But the major missing element over the older app is that you can no longer programme it to charge to a specified amount of electric… only an amount of time. This means if you only want to charge to 80% or 90% on a timed charge you have to guess how long that might take! Please add this function back in!!

Perhaps a full overhaul or new app is needed, especially if Project EV are rolling these apex charger out now

### 1/5 — Laughable app

*2025-06-20, version 1.3.9*

We just had to switch from home to this charger and app and wow what contrast and not in a good way. App is terrible o can’t see how this is acceptable in 2025. Will be switching charger back to ohme soon as I can. Save yourself a headache and don’t bother with “ project ev” or this app.

### 1/5 — Killed my car

*2025-06-13, version 1.3.9*

It’s inbability to work with octopus go has made my 12V battery die and now I’m left with a dead car

### 1/5 — So many problems.

*2025-06-02, version 1.3.9*

App is very basic with minimal functions. Main issue is that every time there is an update, everything goes wrong and it takes weeks of emails and calls to resolve. Why they put out updates without properly testing is a mystery. I often ended up without the timer working or settings being altered without my knowledge. This often caused me major issues. Incredibly frustrating and very poor. I have now changed provider as a result.

### 2/5 — Very disappointed/disappointing

*2025-05-09, version 1.3.7*

Charged well, when it was plug and charge straight away, however once my parents wanted a cheaper tariff with octopus over night charging and an expert from Rawson ev setting up it doesn’t change on the time over night, my parents are 81 and 76 they can’t stay awake until 0035 to see the charrger set up, this involves them going outside in winter previously to check the charging process is working, no lights on the car battery lit up means I have to come and stay over (as I don’t drive ironically and no transportation at this time of night/morning,) they have solar and a battery personally don’t know why they can’t plug it in and charge in daylight

Any help would be appreciated but the three of us aren’t technology savvy, concentrate on the timing issues and I’d give maximum satisfaction on the score

### 1/5 — Awful

*2025-04-21, version 1.3.7*

This is a dreadful app for a dreadful charger. It has one job: charge the car and it doesn’t do this.

Like most sensible people, I have Intelligent Octopus Go and have persevered for weeks but it just will not turn on when Octopus asks leaving the car flat in the morning.

Note that any of the positive reviews look like fakes as they all follow same naming pattern (first name, initial, surname).

The only way it works is to turn off any scheduling and go out and plug it in at 00:30 and who wants to do that? It’s genuinely worse than just an outdoor plug.

### 1/5 — Updates have made it worse, not better

*2025-04-16, version 1.3.7*

It used to work on WiFi (yes, I have checked the WiFi access point is 2.4 ghz, not 5), now it’s been updated, it doesn’t work on WiFi, it connects, then instantly forgets the WiFi details.

### 1/5 — Easily the worst app I’ve used.

*2025-04-14, version 1.3.7*

This app is absolutely pointless, when you eventually manage to connect to the device without the “Remind” popup asks you to connect or cancel when you have already connected and therefore you now have to start all over again. Assume you did this, then you by miracle set a charging cycle and you breath a sigh of relief, wrong the fact that you set this cycle doesn’t mean that this has actually been saved and will happen. Please remove this pop up and fix your horrible app, this is shockingly bad

### 1/5 — Awful

*2025-03-30, version 1.3.7*

App just doesn’t work at all, cannot connect to my home network, and cannot set the time for charging off peak. Just an absolutely pointless app

### 1/5 — Dogsh*t

*2025-03-09, version 1.3.7*

Keeps losing records of my recent charges, really buggy, not very intuitive. Basically a monkey could have coded a better app. One star because I can’t give less.

### 1/5 — Hit and miss

*2025-03-07, version 1.3.7*

Some days it works, some days it doesn’t - driving me crazy because I can’t always start the charging on the car, and I’m yet to have any luck in getting it to set for off peak, so it’s costing a lot more to charge, as I can’t set it to work only off peak - not happy at all!

### 1/5 — Totally unusable.

*2025-03-03, version 1.3.7*

The app is without doubt the worse app I’ve ever encountered and offers no user aids to the actual charging unit. If you need an interactive charger/ app combination, steer well clear as this one just doesn’t work.

### 1/5 — Not fit for purpose

*2025-02-24, version 1.3.6*

Firstly, as others have said, the app is horrendously un-localised from Chinese which inspires zero confidence.

The biggest issue I have is that once a charge is “complete”, the session is terminated until the cable is reconnected again - this renders preconditioning of the car/battery before a journey almost entirely redundant as you are using stored battery power which isn’t then topped up from the charger

### 1/5 — Rubbish

*2025-02-14, version 1.3.5*

The app simply doesn’t work!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Basic & Glitchy

*2026-03-31, version 1.5.0*

Connecting charger to phone was OK, but this App is very basic and I would say not easy or intuitive to use.
Setting up wireless was painful.
It’s obvious this is Chinese App and what you’d expect.

### 1/5 — The worst app I’ve had

*2026-01-27, version 1.4.7*

I don’t often write reviews, but I felt compelled. What should be quite a simple and straightforward app is nothing short of a nightmare! Firstly it’s a roll of the dice every time you open it whether it will connect to the charger unit. If you’re in luck and today’s you’re lucky day it shows connected to the app, the next problem is it showing any form or data of voltage used, time charged, anything of use. If by some miracle, and believe me. It is a miracle if you get to this point and it’s all working. The updating of the app (which should be via App Store by the way and it isn’t, it’s internal on the app) just doesn’t ever work. It pauses on 0% for hours without movement. This is by far the worst Chinese app I’ve seen. So poorly constructed and poorly maintained. Avoid this and just find another way via your car to monitor car charging. I would give this 0 star if I could

### 1/5 — Not fit for purpose

*2026-01-20, version 1.4.6*

Like others I expected to be able to use the Apex charge point as a dumb unit with Intelligent Octopus Go. It doesn’t work and the app is worse than useless. I wish I could go back to my Tesla Wall Connector!

### 1/5 — Cannot Verify

*2025-12-05*

Really a bad app, try to figure out how to get the passwords filled and verify your email code they sent you without having it start all over again every time.

Really bad design

### 1/5 — Incredibly poor

*2025-10-13, version 1.4.2*

My previous home had a Ohme charger and their app was I intuitive and user friendly. This app is the complete opposite, the instructions (or lack of) make no sense, the English is poor, the app rarely connects to the charger unless you’re standing over it and the time scheduling is confusing. Do not recommend

### 1/5 — Joke

*2025-10-10, version 1.4.2*

Upgrade upgrade upgrade just want to charge the car

### 1/5 — Scam?

*2025-09-15, version 1.4.2*

Is it a scam? I can charge my car, but the app must stay open. If I switch to another app, it keeps sending notifications asking me to return to the charging app. After using it, I also received some text messages that seem like a scam.

### 1/5 — Worst app / charger combo possible

*2025-07-16, version 1.3.9*

The app is useless, there are so many behind the scenes settings that you need to call project EV for it’s completely pointless as both an app, and a charger.

The charger has such a poor WiFi signal, all my other devices reach but this one refuses to connect, guess what scheduling doesn’t work without WiFi…

Avoid this app, avoid project EV.

Having this charger replaced as soon as funds allow.

### 1/5 — Awful app

*2025-07-11, version 1.3.9*

Records section does not work

### 1/5 — Rubbish

*2025-07-07, version 1.3.9*

Setting schedule times does not work
Scheduled charging does not work
Setting prices does not work have a list so long as made errors unable to delete incorrect prices
Keeps having to reconnect after one button press
Only way to have ev charge at off peak times would be to either stay up to plug it in or employ somebody to plug the charger in for me.
If everything above even worked unable to export it so as to claim expenses through work for home charging. The way it’s going better off ripping this unit out and replacing for a pod point which does all the above.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Love it

*2026-01-07, version 1.4.6*

Great app and charger. No issues works better than EV project app.

### 5/5 — Works great!

*2025-07-24, version 1.3.9*

I expected this app to be really bad because of the reviews but for me it seems to work excellently. I have the 4g version of the charger so maybe get a more reliable connection than others. I use this app for scheduling (rather than the car app). Customer service were very quick to respond. I use the RFID cards to log the cost for each car. Pls note this is a genuine review and I have no affiliations. Perhaps they have fixed a lot of the problems from earlier.

### 5/5 — Good customer services

*2024-12-16, version 1.3.5*

Had couple of issues setting up the timer for off peak charging I rang the helpline these ppl are happy to help and resolved my issues with no problem at all

### 5/5 — Working really well for me

*2024-07-23, version 1.2.4*

App is working nicely for me and does everything I need. I had a little issue which I raised. I was contacted very promptly and it is now resolved. Very pleased so far. Please do add facial recognition! Great little app.

### 4/5 — No problems

*2025-10-13, version 1.4.2*

Recently had an Apex 7S charger installed, no problems with the physical install. The App itself needed fully setting up in order for the charger to work, to be honest it was a bit of a faff as the App is clearly Chinese then has been poorly converted into English, however, once set up everything seems to work just fine.

### 4/5 — Some work to do!

*2024-12-11, version 1.3.5*

Recent updates have improved the app and functionality, it no longer logs you out all the time and with the correct firmware on the charger all the functions work as required. ProjectEV support where very helpful to resolve issues, so worth checking with there support if functions in the app aren’t working as expected.

### 3/5 — Limited control but the app works.

*2025-12-01, version 1.4.5*

Have found the app works well with basics, but the detailed elements let the app down.

Unable to add different time tariff rates to see what I’m really spending on ev charging (electricity pricing on app).

Would be nice if you could set a primary view; cloud device over local device now my device is set up over WiFi…

### 3/5 — Timed off peak charging problem??? Help!

*2025-02-09, version 1.3.5*

Can someone help,
How can i get the timed charging to work? Ive tried putting it into plug and play and using my cars timer but it doesn’t work, the charger just goes into stop mode, can the developer let me
Know?

### 3/5 — Some work to do!

*2024-07-17*

Some of the basics work, however lots of things about the about don’t seem to function as I would expect. It’s version 1, so hoping it gets better, so far it looks good, but functionality isn’t working correctly.

### 2/5 — Clunky

*2025-10-17, version 1.4.2*

An awful app; it’s like it was designed in a hurry by a class of Yr 8s for a project. It just about does the basics, but frequently I have to rely on physically initiating charging with the home point ‘charger card’ and monitoring progress through my car’s remote app. Using the app just causes my phone to be inundated with notifications requesting I open the app. Aargh!!
