By now, this app should have had a widget to at least show Water Quality and to launch the app. The user interface has no appearance of having arrived in the 2020s. Having said that, what has been designed and developed does work as designed. Little problems in AFS and in MXM software maturity, but it works and it makes working with my Apex system smooth and reliable. ### 4/5 — Not super intuitive *2025-12-29, version 2.16* Took me a bit to figure out the app. After that I have had no issues ### 2/5 — Very hard to use *2024-12-15, version 2.15* It works … when configured properly. It took about 3 days to learn how to use it even looking it up on YouTube, Reddit etc. And months of troubleshooting. I got an algae outbreak in the process due to an unintuitive UI leading to poor configuration. ### 4/5 — Needs 21st century update *2024-11-14, version 2.15* Needs a better UI and widget support. ### 4/5 — Great for control - could be better *2024-06-20, version 2.15* First I love the functionality of seeing what is plugged in and then writing if/then rules to turn stuff off and getting alerts on parameters. As others have said please please add a widget for iOS. Also I find it ridiculous that the data set view is only 7 days long. I want to view parameters swings over months and then view how things have changed. The fact I have to scroll to see and then can only view that week is so silly for a hobby that takes a longterm approach to changes. ### 3/5 — Needs a widget *2024-03-10, version 2.14* I love Neptune and its product ecosystem but this app needs a widget. Being able to see your aquarium’s parameters at a glance would be game changing and I know this feature has been requested for years now. PLEASE ADD A WIDGET ### 2/5 — I really wanted to like this *2023-12-05, version 2.12* This system is not user friendly. Trying to talk to someone requires a ticket. The low water level never worked on this system. The ph checker quit working 2 months after I got it. It does not work on a 5g network, which everything is switching to. It’s so complicated to adjust things, you almost need to be a programmer. It’s not for people use to normal apps. ### 1/5 — Trash *2023-03-30, version 2.11* It’s insane that the equipment costs what it does and has an app that is complete trash. First my PH probe somehow began reading wrong after only a month. Then I started having connection issues for no reason. The app says the equipment disconnected from the internet 1085 times in a 24 hour period. So I restarted the system today and now it says I have no equipment connected. I have a PH and temperature probe connected. This is absurd. I will never buy another product we from this company I have made more reliable equipment the DIY route. ### 1/5 — Major flop *2023-02-11, version 2.11* For what is essentially a tech company Neptune Systems really dropped the ball on this app. It isn’t user friendly. It isn’t well designed. It is flowing or smooth. It’s a clunky, jumbled mess. They clearly spent the minimum on development and moved on. It doesn’t utilize widgets which would be huge for a controller. Instead of taking the time to open an app you could just glance at your Home Screen. But does Neptune allow that? Absolutely not. Because they rarely listen to their user base. It’s their way or the highway. Always has been. Always will be. Until there is a culture change at Neptune don’t expect things to get better for the end users. But we don’t have a choice. We are stuck with Neptune. Nobody else enters this space because Neptune is a cult following. ### 1/5 — App crashes!!! *2022-11-27, version 2.9* The Apex Fusion app keeps popping up a window that says, “Activate Your Account” every time I try to get to the Fusion Dashboard and won’t let me into the dashboard! Then I try to send myself another activation email, and when I click the activation link in email, it takes me back to the same locked out app!!! For a system that costs over a grand $$$, I expect perfection! ### 1/5 — Doesn’t work. *2022-10-18, version 2.7* 900 light, 600$ apex. And the free app doesn’t work. Don’t waste your time buy another brand, this is embarrassing! How can the app crash 15 times in 5 minutes? It doesn’t work AT ALL!!!!!!! IDIOTS!!!! ### 1/5 — Useless *2022-07-27, version 2.5* Spend best part of £2000 on products for the app to keep crashing. I spend nearly £400 on a dos unit and nearly 12 hours in total trying to connect it for it to crash my power bank and kill all my fish and corals overnight because the heater output failed. Every time I try to connect the dos pump it crashes everything and nothing works. Then the App stops working and I can’t control anything. Also Salinity probe is useless. Only thing that actually works it temp and ph. Also good for turning things off and on. When the app actually works it’s ok but if I’m honest I feel ripped off. I only have iPhone and Mac and doesn’t work on either. I now have to spend more money on a laptop and hope that actually lets me use the system. ### 4/5 — Solid app that needs a few new tools *2022-07-02, version 2.5* This is a solid app. Opens quick. Updates quickly No issues with crashes or hanging. Nice to have quick access to reef parameters and notes. I was able to get the app and apex system connected to wifi. However in order to use the DOS pump you need to update firmware. The video that explains the process is completely worthless as it uses a completely different version of apex unit. The home screen on the app…..would be better off if a 10 year old designed it. Absolutely no intuitive flow. NONE. The app needs to be redesigned. What a waste of time! ### 1/5 — Nightmare setup *2023-12-09, version 2.12* On the Apex pro box it states there is an easy setup video guide showing you how to set up each piece of equipment. This guide on the app shows you how to power it on, then how to set up WIFI. That’s it. Then it sends you to the app and you are supposed to intuitively know where to go and what to do. From there, assuming you find what your looking for, everything is written. No videos. Plug in your PH probe. Which one is that?? Nothing is labeled. A box of parts. How can a project team overlook such basic steps in getting a box of parts set up? ### 1/5 — iPad mini 2 12.5:7 crash *2023-11-26, version 2.12* I’m using an iPad mini 2 with latest sw and app won’t start. I appreciate the tour guide which def makes set up easier but it still feels clunky and for someone who’s not tech savvy, it can get complicated or difficult to grasp. Another thing I would love to see is widget support. Having to open the app every single time I need to do something such as turning off a pump or activating a feed cycle. Another thing is for the DOS. When setting it for auto water change the “in out” labels on the left pump don’t match the label on the pump which is fine. Where id like to see an improvement, if I set the right pump to “on” to remove water, it actually works as the pump is labeled. Basically it pumps waste water BACK INTO the sump. ### 5/5 — Great way to monitor my fish *2021-04-09, version 1.6* This system is great. I can keep track of my fish and check on them whenever I want. I recently had an experience where my brother was the account holder. He passed away recently, and Paul, CB, and Louis at Apex Systems helped me transfer ownership of the account. Super great customer support.
