As it turns out, they decided to lock me out of the account unless I agreed to pay for a subscription. Don’t waste your time on this, just use Google authenticator from the start so you’re not stuck in a bad position. Canceled the subscription and changed my 2 factor authentication immediately. So every time you open the app there’s a misleading screen that gives you pro version pricing and it feels a little like having your accounts held hostage until you find the subtle skip button. Today I couldn’t find the skip button. I think they removed it? Maybe I’m blind, who knows. Anyways I switched to “Proton Authenticator” and it works. Fine. No hostage situations. Would recommend. A donation button would have been fine. I’d throw you guy 5 bucks for saving me time - but I’m not paying 70$ for a product that in no way differentiates itself from the other authenticator apps. Lastly I feel like “Auth for Google Authenticator” is a misleading name. They are in no way associated with Google best I can tell.
