### 4/5 — Very useful app but pricing is unreasonable

*2024-08-16*

I really like this app and honestly don’t mind paying for it as a gesture of support, if the price is more reasonable, which it is not. With little added value that comes with a paid version, I see little reason why anyone would want to spend almost $200 on this, let alone a universally-hated subscription model. Let’s be realistic, for the same amount of cash you can get an entire package of Affinity Photo, Designer and Publisher on all available platforms, or get a non-subscription Microsoft Office license for 5 users.
I mean, the pricing is just ridiculous.

### 2/5 — Full of ads, despite having paid for a subscription

*2024-05-22*

I bought a lifetime subscription for this app several years ago. Unfortunately it has really gone downhill since, the developer is trying to generate incremental revenue by selling esims, flight bookings, travel insurance, passenger compensation for delayed flights, etc. I haven't noticed any new features in a long while but the ads just keep increasing, including particularly aggressive ones via push message.

The auto check-in feature is not very useful as it doesn't let me add the boarding pass to apple wallet, so I don't find myself using it. I would recommend looking for an alternative.

**Developer response:** Hi! This is Katrina from the App in the Air support team. Thank you for taking the time to review our app! We've expanded our offerings in-app to include features like eSIMs, booking capabilities, travel insurance, and more because of user requests we've received. We're sorry to hear these aren't some of the features you'd like to see. Our app also generates boarding passes for flights that have been booked through our app, too! We'd like to learn more about the features you'd like to see to make our app worthwhile, so please reach out to me at katrina@appintheair.com! Best regards, Katrina

### 2/5 — Lots of features, clunky design and sometimes incorrect

*2024-03-02*

It’s great that you have so many features but there is so much missing for the steep prince you charge. There is no monthly or weekly subscription option which is very useful for non frequent flyers (evident why this is, money > customer experience).

Worst part, you get intrusive notifications even if you pay for premium and you can’t turn them off at all!

Dont get this app, get Flighty or any other flight tracker and organizer instead. I wasted my money thinking there was a free trial (which is tells you there is), but it ended up just charging me. So I’m stuck with this for a year….

**Developer response:** Hi! Thank you for your report. We have some options for non-frequent flyers, like the referral system, where you can invite friends in the App in the Air, so both of you will get free premium activation for your next flight. You can also use a 14-day free trial if you are not quite sure if you need all the features that our App provides, however, I must highlight that this option is available only for one time, and if you try to take an annual subscription once again only for a 14-day trial, you will be charged immediately, which, most likely, happened to you. You can write to me directly at vladimir@appintheair.com to describe all your points in more detail, so I can forward them to our development team. Vladimir

### 3/5 — 3 Stars

*2023-12-29*

I’ve loved and used this app for many years as you can see from my review below. However, I am unable to recommend this app until an ongoing bug gets resolved. You can not add people (subscribe) them to receive updates regarding your travel plans. This is a huge feature of the program and I’ve been told it will be fixed soon. It’s been at least 18 months. As a Lifetime user, I’m about ready to cut my losses and try another program if AITA can’t get this fixed soon. Very disappointing.
________________________

I’ve been using AITA for years and was so impressed that I became a Lifetime paid user. I had a UI suggestion and within 12 hours, I was contacted and problem fixed. I have never had such great customer service from any company. I’m not a big power user, but I sure appreciate the service I was provided as an occasional flyer. Totally recommend “App In The Air” for any of your travel needs!

**Developer response:** Hello. That's Alex from the App in the Air. We hope this message finds you well. First and foremost, we want to extend our sincere apologies for the inconvenience you've been experiencing with our app. We truly value your loyalty over the years and deeply regret any frustration caused by the ongoing bug. We understand that the inability to add people and subscribe to them to receive updates regarding your travel plans is a significant issue, and we share your concern regarding its prolonged existence. It is indeed a key feature of our program, and we are committed to resolving this matter as soon as possible to ensure you have a seamless experience with App in the Air. To assist us in addressing this problem promptly and effectively, we kindly request more details about the issue you are encountering. Please let us know more details with the screenshots or videos. Your input will greatly aid our development team in identifying and rectifying the bug efficiently. Once again, we apologize for any inconvenience this issue has caused, and we thank you for your continued support and patience. Your satisfaction remains our top priority. Alex

### 2/5 — Great app. All features are behind paywall.

*2023-12-25*

I don’t mind paying for an app.

But if your only choice is annual ($79.99) and Lifetime ($399.99) then this app is not made for me or anyone else I know that go on 1 or 2 trips a year at most.

Hope a monthly / weekly pass gets added.

**Developer response:** Hello, that's Alex from the App in the Air team. Thank you for sharing your feedback with us! We truly appreciate it. We understand your concern about the current subscription options, and we're continuously working on improving our offerings to better suit the needs of all our users. Expanding our subscription plans to include more flexible options like monthly or weekly passes is definitely something we'll consider. We want to ensure that everyone can enjoy our premium features without feeling restricted by annual or lifetime commitments. In the meantime, we encourage you to invite your friends to join the app. The more friends you invite, the more flights with premium features you can unlock for free. And if you have any further questions or suggestions, please feel free to reach out to us at alex@appintheair.com. We're here to help! Alex

### 3/5 — Lackluster features

*2023-02-28*

With the unfortunate change in feature tiers, and the pricing that I paid last year for a year subscription, I do not feel like it is worth the money. I had written a review earlier, which seemingly has been deleted by the company, that requested live activities, and other features be brought to the service. The response I received was that it will be coming within the next couple of days. This was over a week ago. These promised and requested features still are not part of my pay tear, and my prior common still stand that the subscription for the service is not worth the money. The stated response from AITA from my last review claimed …” The next release should be in the days, and it will bring the long waited "Live Activities" feature.” I do not know what happened to my prior review, however I stand by my disappointment in both the cost of the subscription and the features that it contains. I’ve been sitting on the year subscription and there have been hardly any updates as promised to my tier, which leads me to not resubscribe. It’s unfortunate that this company has not backed their claims and promises from our conversations.

**Developer response:** Hello. First of all, I apologize that it takes some time. We never delete any app reviews from our users. Once I have an update about the live activities I’ll definitely keep you notified. If you have any other questions, in the meantime, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me at jasmine@appintheair.com. I'll be always happy to help!  Warm regards, Jasmine

### 5/5 — Statistics are back

*2023-02-22*

After moving flight statistics to paid subscriptions, the developers decided to have them back for the free version so I’m rating the app 5 stars again.

**Developer response:** Hello! Thank you for updating your review, we really appreciate it. The opinion of our users is very important to us and we are happy to listen to it. If you have any questions you can email me at vlad@appintheair.com. Vlad

### 5/5 — Amazing app

*2023-02-18*

I use App in the Air all the time! It makes flying really memorable and it's great fun to see your flight map expand.

**Developer response:** Hello, thank you for your 5 stars review! We make every effort to be a useful travel assistant for you. If you have any questions related to the application, I will definitely answer at vlad@appintheair.com. Vlad

### 2/5 — Not what it used to be

*2023-01-29*

I loved this app and used for a long time. Now you can’t check any flight stats without paying a premium price. I would be ok with $10 a year but $50 is too much. Also all my hotels are now showing I’m my trips page. I already use TripIt for this. I used this app purely for flights only. Not being able to see just my flights and access my flight stats means I will now just use TripIt from now on.

**Developer response:** Hello. Thanks for using our app all this time and sharing your experience. It's really important for us. Thank you so much for using our app this year and sharing your experience. I'd like to mention that we didn't remove any functionality from the app, but we have made a significant part of the functionality available only by subscription. This was not an easy decision for us, but it was crucial to ensure the long-term success of our company and our ability to continue improving the product. It's a part of the widgets (if you open the flight feed, you will see locks on these widgets) and statistics. Although, you can still use our free trial of the subscription or invite friends via the App settings and get a free activation for your flight. And stay tuned for the updates. Please let me know at alex@appintheair.com if you need any assistance. I'll be happy to help you. Alex

### 5/5 — What happened to the developer now?

*2022-12-20, version 8.5.8*

I been using this app for many years, and been a paid member since the the beginning. The app used to be good, but now it won’t show up useful information on time, such delays and gate changes, while its competitors definitely do better now. There is no support to see the Taxi time, the take off lineup, not even the arrival airport Terminal. The main UI have so many issues like the other comments mentioned, its just confusing and disappointing to use. I am switching to the other app to keep tracking my flights live, the only reason i am keeping this app in my phone is because my flights history.

**Developer response:** Hello, thank you for your feedback. I'm sorry to hear that you had such an experience while using our app. Unfortunately, airlines do not always relay information about changes in flight schedules in a timely manner. Could you please send me examples of these flights? I'll check the data for them. As for the taxi time and arrival terminal - the data about that comes to users in the form of notifications. Can you please also clarify about the take-off lineup - what kind of information are you missing? Also, information about UI issues would be very useful for us and help us improve our app. You can send your answer to vlad@appintheair.com and I will try to help you. Vlad

### 3/5 — App is ok , lot better alternatives there

*2022-11-29, version 8.5.8*

Positives One of the flight tracker that offers Watch support Cheaper life time plan Negatives -Too much data collected for a flight app. -no native apple family sharing support -why needs my facebook ,google, email passwords ? -too many tabs , messages and pop-ups -no live activity support -no dynamic island support -push messages are often late than any other flight tracker- Doest support login for Apple ID kids accounts (if Apple native family sharing is allowed , this won’t be issue )- app needs to make flight tracker as first tab and rest as backup tabs

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Paid version is full of ads.

*2024-03-05*

This app has some useful features, but after buying a lifetime membership, the app is still bursting at the seams with advertising and promoted content.

In addition, the app often invents flight data, which makes it unreliable. For example, if I book a small, internal flight while visiting Malaysia, and then that flight is delayed, the app will show the flight as being airborne while I am sitting on the ground waiting to board. The app behaves as if it has access to real-time data when it doesn't. The end result is that you never know if the app is accurate. If the developers simply admitted to not having real-time data, we would at least know when to seek other sources of information, but instead they fake it when they don't have it—a huge mistake that makes you constantly fear you're missing critical information.

**Developer response:** Hello, that's Alex from the App in the Air team. Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We deeply appreciate your support as a lifetime member, and we're truly sorry to hear about your experience with ads persisting even after upgrading to premium. Rest assured, our premium users should not encounter any advertisements while using our app. If you're still seeing ads, please reach out to us at alex@appintheair.com so we can investigate this issue further and ensure your premium experience is ad-free. Regarding flight data accuracy, we understand the importance of reliable information, especially when it comes to travel plans. While we strive to provide real-time data for most airlines and routes, there are instances where this may not be feasible due to limitations beyond our control. We'll do our best to improve the accuracy and transparency of our data sources to minimize any discrepancies. Your concerns are valuable to us, and we're committed to addressing them to enhance your overall experience with our app. Thank you for bringing these matters to our attention, and please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any further questions or feedback. Alex

### 1/5 — Interface UI/UX à revoir

*2023-12-22*

Vlad /// Hello, thank you for your review. Our app already supports widgets on Lock Screen, just select our app in the list of widgets and add the right one for you. We'll also be adding support for Live Activities in the near future, stay tuned! If you have any questions, you can email me 24/7 at vlad@appintheair.com. Vlad

### 1/5 — Over promise and under delivery

*2023-07-30*

The concept of the app is great and it promises many feature. The mail parsing fails miserably whereby the app only reads the first segment of the itinerary and ignores the rest. One must manually add the remaining segments.

I registered my email address for mail parsing and sent my previous flights from FlightRadar24 in csv format but the 150+ flights won’t get added. The customer support is efficient and responsive but the issue still remains after more than a week of back and forth.

**Developer response:** Hello, thank you for your feedback. I'm sorry to hear that you are facing this situation. Our developers are already working on fixing the feature of importing flights from email accounts and csv files, but it is a very big task that takes time. I want to assure you that the work is underway and as soon as this issue is fixed, my colleagues and I will contact you. Could you please clarify if I understand correctly that you entered your flight data into our custom csv file and sent it to just@add.flights, but the flights were not imported? You can send your response to vlad@appintheair.com. Vlad

### 1/5 — But… why?

*2023-06-29*

I honestly don’t get the point of travel apps like this. What are they actually for? I’m not interested in booking hotels or flights through a travel app (who would?!) which basically leaves the flight tracking and notification service… I can see how that would have been useful a long time ago but now pretty much every airline has an app that will do the same thing. But for free and, usually, better. So I tested this app on a recent flight and, sure, it told me when and where to board and when a gate changed but guess what? The app for the airline did all that, too, and it did it faster. When my gate changed, the airline told me long before this app did. Everything I needed to know was right there on the airline app. And airlines aren’t charging a subscription fee to use their app. There are other features the app has but they are so minor that I can’t imagine even using them, let alone paying for them (no one really needs to check covid statuses any more).

Deleted it before I even got home from my trip.

**Developer response:** Hello. Thank you for your feedback. I'm sorry to hear that you were left with such an impression from using our app. In general, if we talk about the concept of our app, it is a kind of app to go, which helps users who fly frequently to make all the necessary preparations for traveling in one place, as well as to get the opportunity to be aware of the status of their flights. That is, our app is a platform that allows you to prepare and go through the entire cycle of traveling by airplane from buying a ticket to landing at your destination in one service. Moreover, it doesn't even require a paid subscription, the basic features work for free for all users. Yes, indeed, it is often the case that the app of the airline you are flying can prompt you about flight changes faster. But what if your flight consists of multiple flights and different airlines? Moreover, based on my personal flying experience, I've encountered a situation dozens of times when our app displayed a change of Departure Gate or canceled flight even before this data was displayed on the table at the airport. But of course, given the amount of data in aviation, there can be glitches and delays in updating data in the app as we receive data from providers, airlines and airports. In any case, we always welcome feedback and your opinion will be taken into account by our team. We are constantly working on improving our app. If you have any questions feel free to contact me 24/7 at vlad@appintheair.com. Vlad

### 1/5 — Some past trips are missing or have dates messed up

*2023-06-03*

Some past trips have been mysteriously disappeared, but I don’t have any memories of deleting them. Many other trips had wrong dates. e.g. Some dates are moved several years prior to the actual trip dates. So if the app cannot keep the records right, why bother using it anyway? I have noticed this bug for a while, and there’s no sign it has been fixed.

Update: App in the Air team contacted me concerning the issue. They didn’t find anything.

**Developer response:** Dear Ming, I'm Alex from the App in the Air support team. I would like to thank you for choosing and using our app. Thank you for being part of our community! As I noticed, you already have a conversation about the issue with my colleague, Olga. So, your original request is under investigation and should be solved nearest time in the future. If not, please feel free to contact me directly at alex@appintheair.com. Please let me apologize for any inconvenience. Alex

### 1/5 — Automatic check in is rubbish!

*2023-05-07*

I paid for a lifetime membership and some of the app is excellent but they keep checking me in for flights automatically when this is NOT what I want, no obvious way to opt out, and devs send me messages about how great this feature is. So one star for “knowing what I want!” These idiots don’t understand airline status and why i might not want a boarding pass until the last minute in case a better seat opens up! Come on , it’s supposed to be a pro travel app, how about understanding users outside of North America, plus your app in the air boarding passes look like a 4 year old made them and shows the wrong time on my lock screen, dreadful dreadful dreadful! Ask my fecking permission before you check me in! 🤬

**Developer response:** Hello, thank you for your feedback. I'm sorry to hear that you are facing this situation. You can easily disable automatic check-in for each flight by doing the following: as you complete the automatic check-in steps (on the "Boarding Pass" widget for the upcoming flight), enable/disable the "Auto check-in for each flight" option before you click "Save". If you have already checked in, click on Status - then go through all the screens, and on the page with the "Cancel" button turn off "Auto check-in for every flight" and click the "back" button in the upper left corner. Regarding the design of the boarding pass: I will pass your opinion to our developers and they will take it into account. If you have any questions, you can email me 24/7 at vlad@appintheair.com. Vlad

### 1/5 — Use to be good

*2023-02-13*

After using this app for years it’s no longer worth having on my device since all my flight stars which use to be available are now only available with a subscription. Time for a new app.

**Developer response:** Hello, thank you for your feedback and for using our app all this time and sharing your experience. It's really important for us. You can also email me at vlad@appintheair.com if you have any questions/comments/suggestions. I will be happy to help you. Vlad

### 1/5 — Boycott Russian invasion of Ukraine

*2022-12-21*

Tried on Apple Watch and on Phone but wouldn’t work in either with Sky airlines. Then found out it is a Russian company, so uninstalled as part of economic sanctions. Stop supporting companies that continue operations in Russia or are owned by Russians who aren’t speaking out against it and Putin.

**Developer response:** Hello. Thank you for sharing your experience and perspective. It's important for individuals to take meaningful actions aligned with their values, especially in times of crisis and war. Your decision to boycott companies associated with the Russian invasion of Ukraine is one way to demonstrate solidarity and support for those affected by the conflict. If you have any further questions or need assistance, please feel free to reach out to us at alex@appintheair.com. We appreciate your engagement and commitment to making a difference. Alex

### 1/5 — Bait and Switch

*2022-12-16, version 8.5.8*

I'm a developer to so I really get it. You have to get money, on an ongoing basis, to keep up with the development of your app. Apple changes things every year and that might break things, but users expect the app they bought to keep working. There are premium features that cost you money so you have to charge. The old model of 0.99$ for every app is not sustainable.

That being said, what I don't agree with is baiting and switching your users. I downloaded this app and put in information for my upcoming flights. After that I went in and added booking codes and uploaded my visa documents. Only AFTER putting everything in, the app locked me out of those sections, and wouldn't allow me to see the information I had just put in. It would've been completely fine if it was locked behind premium from the beginning so I could understand exactly what I'm getting for free and what I'm expected to pay for, but locking me out only after I spend the time to put in the information is disrespectful to my time and leaves a sour taste in my mouth.

**Developer response:** Hello! Thank you for the extended report. Can you please write to me directly at vladimir@appintheair.com and describe this issue with timings, like when you have installed the App and when it locked some of the options? That would really help me to figure out this difficulty. Thank you in advance and looking forward to your reply. Vladimir

### 1/5 — Not user friendly - does not notify you on time to board

*2022-10-26*

I made an error uploading my boarding pass and tried to delete it so that I could upload the correct document and I can’t do it. There is nowhere in the boarding pass area to easily delete it. I emailed for help and they told me to delete it but I dont see these “3 dots” anywhere within the birding pass section of the app. I am trying this app out for a flight home tomorrow and if this is how difficult it is to do simple tasks I won’t be subscribing when my free subscription is up. I’m not technically challenged - I use apps all the time for travel and it shouldn’t be this complicated. Just frustrating and annoying
UPDATE:
When my gate number came up, App in the Air didn’t tell me at all until 25 later. AFTER Kayak (a free app I use) warned me at the same time as the message board in Gatwick. What am I paying for if you can’t even give me the gate number in time? Had I waited for the app to notify me I’d have likely missed my boarding. So this app is a no for me. I had to manually add the gate in myself. Also, once I landed, it again didn’t tell me that or my baggage carousel number until after I had picked up up myself. Terrible. Cancelling the free trial now.

**Developer response:** Hello! Thank you for your report. I have already added the task to make the way to Delete button less complicated to our ideas list. Also, I'm going to make a video instruction about how to delete the wrong picture from the Boarding Pass widget. I'm going to send it to you with an email reply. You can still contact me directly at vladimir@appintheair.com. Vladimir

### 5/5 — Fantastic Customer Support

*2024-08-05*

As an infrequent flyer, there are updates and changes that I have either forgotten from last time or not set up right. Not a problem, fast developer response and patience dealing with my requests. Helping sync with tripIt pro, adding details which might not have its own tab plus upgrading my better half to my account and checking all is working before closing the ticket. I was already a lifetime member. Wouldn't travel without this essential App. Other developers need to take a leaf out of their customer service. First Class.

**Developer response:** Hello. Thank you for your review and kind words about our support team! It motivates us to be even better. In case of any questions, email me 24/7 at vlad@appintheair.com. Vlad

### 5/5 — Happy Long-Time User with Suggestion

*2024-04-11*

When it comes to trip management apps, App in the Air is my go to app. For booking hotels and flights, it’s among the best I’ve seen on a mobile app in terms of user interface. However, with the latest update, the app has randomly locked up on the main booking page. Also, I’ve seen an occasional ‘failed to load results’ error when selecting a hotel from the search results list. As either issue happens rarely, it’s a minor matter that I’m sure they can correct in future updates. As a suggestion, I’d like to see the app detail what the ‘supports loyalty program’ when booking hotels. Does that really mean that one would get the same rates and rewards points as though the booking was made direct with the hotel brand? As it doesn’t ask for my hotel brand member number, I’m curious how that would work.

**Developer response:** Hello Mark,

This is Katrina from the App in the Air support team. Thank you for keeping updated with your reviews! We'd like to learn more about the booking problems you've encountered. Please feel free to send any additional details and screenshots to me at katrina@appintheair.com. Katrina

### 5/5 — Great App

*2023-08-15*

I’ve not been traveling enough lately to justify the paid version yet, but it’s been great to keep documents in one place. I like the maps and stickers and trip data aspect of it. I’d like to see it take the profile stuff a little further and add a trip log for writing about the trip, and have the option to keep it private or post it to share with other travelers. Over all, it’s pretty much unrivaled in what all it can do.

Update: I have the pro version now and it’s pretty comprehensive. Being able to add documents to all the trips and append hotel and car rental information in addition to notes on each trip pretty much hits everything I need. Looking forward to playing around more with it.

**Developer response:** Hello, thank you for your 5 stars review! We make every effort to be a useful travel assistant for you. I'm glad to hear that the premium version of our app has covered all your needs. But in any case I will pass your suggestion to our developers and they will take it into account. If you have any questions related to the application, I will definitely answer at vlad@appintheair.com. Vlad

*2023-06-27*

### 5/5 — Bring back Apple Watch

*2023-03-10*

Been using this app for over 10 years, love how it integrates with my Google calendar so I’m sure never to miss a flight. I love the automatic updates to let you know about delays and gate changes. Sometimes I get it on app in the air before the app with the airline this is always a good thing. I used to have the app on my Apple Watch but for some reason just lately it stopped working and totally disappeared. I’m not sure what happened if there was an update or not, I looked for it in Apple Watch apps, but I can no longer find it and I can no longer sync it with my Apple Watch. If I’m doing something wrong, please let me know but if not, PLEASE bring back this option of having it on the Apple Watch.

**Developer response:** Hello! Thank you for a great review! Can you please write to me directly at vladimir@apintheair.com about this difficulty with Apple Watch, so I can help you to solve it? It would be better if you add a couple of screenshots or a screen recording to your description. Thank you in advance and looking forward to your reply. Vladimir

### 5/5 — Great features!

*2023-02-25*

I love this app, and use it all the time when travelling. I do feel a like the pricing is a bit steep for the features you get, and it is why I am still using the free version for now, which is more than capable.
If they dropped the pricing I would go for the lifetime subscription because I can see how some premium features can add value.
All in all, I would definitely give this a go if you fly even a few times per year!

**Developer response:** Hello, thank you for your 5 stars review! We make every effort to be a helpful travel assistant for you. You can get a premium for free. Just invite your friends to join the app. More people will join - more flights with premium features you will get for free. If you have any questions about the application, I will definitely answer at vlad@appintheair.com. Vlad
