I use it while a write. The only thing I think it’s missing is an autoplay like Apple Music has and more variety of instrumental music. There’s an artist I love that has music on this app but not an artist page the same way they do on Apple Music. I would also love more variety, specifically adding some Video Game soundtracks. Overall though this app is perfect for when I don’t want to listen to anything with lyrics and get lost in my writing. I understand you’re presenting works through the filter of the composer, but I think there should also be a filter that allows it to be by artist. Also, when scrolling through albums on the app on my iPhone, the list appears small and to find something. I keep scrolling and looking, scrolling and looking. On the inside and on the outside, it’s all about making more and more money. Releasing dedicated Classical app seemed like a great idea to attract more people to struggling Apple Music subscription, but lack of enthusiasm from the developers and total disregard to customer needs left the app unfinished, poorly designed and lacking. Same goes for the Liquid Glass update released last year - it’s all minimum effort to make the system look cool in ads and give impression of upgrades. It’s been now multiple years since Classical launched. No concerns were addressed since then. ——————————— Updated review from June 2025: The app added Listening Guide feature, which is, honestly, fantastic, and almost makes me want to subscribe to Apple Music on regular basis. Unfortunately, the implementation is lacking and Classical app still leaves a lot to be desired - a trend that has become increasingly common with Apple’s software lately. For starters, the text in some of the Listening Guides contains typos, and there is no option to report that. Moreover, there is a bug in the latest version of the app that sometimes prevents the feature from launching. Unfortunately, the earlier complaints weren’t addressed - the app still lacks the option to download music, and doesn’t have any widget for the Home Screen, features that are considered to be most common even with third-party music apps. It seems like Apple doesn’t consider Classical Music app to be a standalone app, and wants it used as a companion for its main Music app. But that would mean that lovers of classical music would have to use regular Music app to download their favorite works. Doesn’t make any sense. Still 1 star out of 5. I appreciate the addition of Listening Guides, but it’s current implementation is not enough to justify way too many problems still present.
