### 4/5 — Neat

*2026-04-20, version 7.1.1*

It’s nice to see Apple is showcasing what a neat app is like

### 2/5 — Great idea, needs work

*2026-01-20, version 7.1.0*

My Medicare claims aren’t always syncing. Or I have to delete what is in the app and re-sync. I would love to see the claims for my managed Medicaid plan.

Lastly, it would be great if Apple started creating a Vision Pro app to start collecting usage data for its impact on health.

### 4/5 — Right inner hip

*2026-01-14, version 7.1.0*

Have to lay on left side with left leg extended and pillow between knees.

### 4/5 — Good but not great

*2026-01-13, version 7.1.0*

We should be able to customize our profile picture in this app.
There should be more studies, for the good of man kind.

### 2/5 — Apple Research

*2025-12-16, version 7.0.0*

Never seen myself using this app ever.

### 2/5 — Young people cannot do surveys

*2025-11-05, version 7.0.0*

Hi, i am a young user that likes to contibute to scociety and other things. I wish i could i could do surveys with my parents permission (of course) because some studies effect younger and older people, which are pretty much equally important. Thank you! 🌷🔬

### 2/5 — Perplexed

*2025-10-12, version 7.0.0*

I don't understand how my cell can supposedly gauge my physical activity when I don't have my cell with me most of the time?!

### 4/5 — Great concept needs stability improvements

*2025-09-26, version 6.1.1*

Love the idea of these studies. Frictionless to participate in.
Current issue is that the app doesn’t recognize my AirPods Pro 3’s to complete the task.

### 3/5 — App doesn't work right

*2025-09-21, version 6.1.1*

Won't let me adjust the volume after 1st attempt in the hearing test.

### 3/5 — iPad

*2025-08-03, version 6.1*

Please create this app for an iPad.

### 3/5 — Help me help you

*2025-07-03, version 6.1*

I am a veteran who has tinnitus and I joined your hearing study. I do not have a pair of headphones to participate in it the way you would like. Is there someone in the study either from the University of Michigan or Apple that may have access to the equipment needed to properly conduct the study. Please let me know if there is any information on what I am asking?

### 4/5 — Needs the ability to save progress

*2025-02-28, version 6.0*

It would be incredibly helpful to be able to save progress in the onboarding surveys. The new study asks for a lot of family data & I’m from a big family, so it will take a lot longer than 10 minutes

### 2/5 — Cannot edit

*2025-02-12, version 6.0*

There are several questionnaires about personal health to complete. After this has been done it cannot be reviewed nor altered if necessary. For example, recalling a long ago surgery that was initially omitted from the “task”.

### 3/5 — Measuring quite place quit working

*2025-01-22, version 5.0.4*

I’ve been doing a number of research programs and they have been fine. But recently in the hearing one, the measuring bar on find a quiet place goes to a few bars in the red and stays there. I’ve tried various pairs of headphones and different rooms and always measured the same level and I can’t continue with the study. I’ve downloaded decibel reading apps and confirmed my area is quiet.

### 3/5 — iPad compatibility removed

*2024-12-22, version 5.0.4*

I used and enjoyed the Apple Research app on my iPad extensively until the iPad was removed from the compatibility list in October 2024.

Please restore compatibility so the application is usable again!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Unable to download

*2026-06-23, version 7.2.1*

Was participating and now with newest phone I am
Unable to download the app to continue. And keep getting asked to participate. No way to get any help or support either.

### 1/5 — Broken for past 4-5 weeks

*2026-06-01, version 7.2.1*

Despite the recent app update, this app is not working correctly (very un-Apple). Completed tasks do not delete from the ‘To-do’ queue.

### 1/5 — Unable to tap

*2026-02-05, version 7.1.1*

I participated in a study for several years but now I have to quit because the app no longer functions and there is zero support. It’s a shame, all those years wasted because you can’t tap Next. 🤷🏻

### 1/5 — Privacy is questionable

*2025-10-12, version 7.0.0*

These are the researchers who actually run the study—say, at Harvard or Brigham & Women’s.
They’re the ones analyzing the data, so they can be granted access to things Apple promises to keep “de-identified.” But “de-identified” is elastic. It might still include timestamps, location ranges, device type, or physiological readings—data that can quietly re-link back to a person if cross-referenced.

Apple frames it as: “Researchers get only coded data, and Apple doesn’t know who you are.”
But the flip side is: “The investigators may hold the key that reconnects your code to your real identity for medical follow-up or regulatory purposes.”
So, if the university partner needs to contact you about an abnormal heart rhythm or to verify a consent form, they can technically do that.

Legal In short: If the study ever becomes part of a medical-device submission, drug trial, or faces an ethics review, those bodies have the right to inspect the underlying data—including any “sensitive” information Apple otherwise keeps locked down.
Apple builds the vault, but the study partners hold spare keys—and regulators can legally demand a master key.

### 1/5 — .

*2025-07-29, version 6.1*

.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t stay connected

*2025-07-07, version 6.1*

Every time I start one of the hearing tests after the right ear the app says my head phones are disconnected even though they aren’t so can’t do it if your app isn’t working

### 1/5 — Sharing Data Broken

*2025-06-06, version 6.1*

Every day it prompts me to share additional data, but all my data is already shared and following the prompt just brings up a screen that says done

### 1/5 — Unable to transfer studies error

*2025-02-14, version 6.0*

I would love to participate but I get an error that it can’t transfer studies. I wish you all luck as this seems like a great idea

### 1/5 — Transferring studies from previous iPhone gets stuck halfway through

*2025-01-08, version 5.0.4*

Update: Setup a new iPhone and now I can’t even resume my study participation. Transferring studies via iCloud from previous iPhone gets stuck at 40%. Troubleshooting has no effect. Looks like this bug goes back to at least 2022. Apple has yet to fix it.

Previous: The Apple Hearing Study initial survey and setup asks to verify Headphone Audio Levels in iphone Settings. However the questions the survey asks don’t correlate to the Settings options anymore because the iOS version has been updated from when the Study questions were created a few years ago, yet the survey was not updated to reflect the new setting options.

### 1/5 — Transferring Studies Broken

*2024-10-04, version 5.0.4*

When you’re setting up a new phone and it prompts you to transfer your studies to your new device, it freezes at 40%. Other reviewers report the same issue, Apple fix this!!

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Dennis Larson

*2026-06-18, version 7.2.1*

Love your work

### 5/5 — Giving back

*2026-02-19, version 7.1.1*

My father was dying of when in the Boston Globe I read of a MGH clinical trial. His doctor at the affiliated medical center in Peabody, MA. At my request his doctor Swartz was able to include dad. He lived short of two additional years.

Thus I wish to give back in appreciation for a Clinical Trial’s extension of my father’s life.

### 5/5 — Excellent Data Collector

*2025-06-23, version 6.1*

I’ve been a participant in various studies for 4+ years. I can say without any bias, the Apple Research app works perfectly without fail. The other participants who complain about performance need to look at their device as the source of their pain points. The app FUNCTIONS to collect data. It’s not about who is using the data or if you agree with how it’s collected OR managed…

Remember if you can, it’s a SURVEY!!!! Participation is NOT MANDATORY, remember???

### 5/5 — Research

*2025-06-18, version 6.1*

Remix

### 5/5 — A-For Effort (5 Stars)

*2025-04-29, version 6.0*

((This got long sorry))
I’m not sure (if someone can answer..) but can we export these studies we do to our medical providers?

Either way,
I’ve been doing these studies personally for myself so I can go back and read and compare etc…I like how the app analyzes things and it’s pretty cool info.

I did see a previous review saying it would be nice to save our progress.
I think that’s a good idea.
Also when I click to sign up for more studies it opens my QR code camera thingy.
Where can I get the codes specifically?

Also just sayin….
I wish we had more of an incentive to do these studies. Even Google rewards pay us here and there and also Facebook even has Viewpoints too (but I think they stopped it..).
Maybe offer us per however long a study is?
Maybe like per question is 10 cents or $1 per study then add it to your Apple cash?
Or
Gift card or even free time like 1-3 months of Apple care or extra I cloud storage ..Just a thought…

Other than that this app interesting to say the least.
I wish too we could connect to non apple users too like maybe make it where if we send a link to someone whether or both they have a iPhone too or not make it user friendly where our friends and family can join in too and maybe help answer stuff maybe that we can’t?

I just found my birth dad side of my family and I have a sister and I’m still learning stuff and it’s just so many questions I have and sometimes in the research app I do t know what to answer… so if I could send a link to my sister she can answer questions about her self and out passed away dad …
same difference as in like Google docs and such even YouTube you can create a playlist or create A folder in Google and keep it unlisted and share the link and only those with the link get access.. something like that….

So recap:
**Access to export our data to medical providers?
**Where can we find the codes to enroll in more studies?
**Giving us an incentive whether be by way of $, or for however long access to Apple Music or Apple TV or iCloud storage-
the storage would be a permanent thing to “save up” to cash in on. Otherwise if access to Apple Music make it like 1 month to Apple care or Music or whatever then it shuts off.. unless we cash in on more time etc.. make sense?
And NOT this 3 weeks try it free the. We have to cancel whatever then WE have to cancel.. NO .. no tricks.
**Make access available via a link or a code or whatever…
for friends/family members
(or mainly a family program?
-but just making access ..)-
for us to share with them then they can have access to our medical or research data and can edit things (like I don’t know EVERYTHING about my dads side… but my sister does so if give her access to my account she can edit for me etc.).
**Lastly this is for Apple iPhone period….make it available under these reviews to post screen shots and such.
Not the previews at the top I’m sayin if people who reviews can show screen shots I needed.

Hope all this makes sense…
I’m not good at explaining things and I never leave reviews u less I really really like it.

### 5/5 — Great.

*2025-02-20, version 6.0*

Nice.

### 5/5 — Love collaborate

*2024-09-13, version 5.0.3*

It’s a pleasure for me to participate in those studies. I always have fun doing them and when keynotes arrive, I enjoy watching sections where mentioned health part, new sensor, studies specifically for Apple Watch. I strongly think those results got a lot to do with the improvements of the products that k enjoy daily. I encourage it also for the good for everyone else in the world, specially the Apple fans like me. Keep improving

### 5/5 — Behind you 100%

*2024-04-04*

I agree if there’s a cycle stat for women then there should be something equivalent for the men. I am also with you on doing something for society and not having to be compensated. People it’s a free study. You added and are willing to participate and now you want compensation? Come on! You can’t just help out without receiving something in return? Greed is a form of envy and you probably don’t even care that y’all are spreading that sin around willing for that to be the norm. it’s too bad that people are happy with the selfish greedy self centered lives that they live. SAD facts!

### 5/5 — Apple Watch Research review

*2024-02-10, version 5.0.1*

During the last 2+ years I have consistently exercised following great Research directives in my 6 Apple Watch. I would not have done exercise of this magnitude at 82 years old widow due to my lack of exercise natural and in apt.workout areas. I am recognized by other fellow exercisers walking briskly along Fernbank parks walkway beside the Ohio River. It helps me maintain my slim size and more active, happy brain. Thrilled to use my Apple Watch “a chance opportunity”.

### 5/5 — 🤨

*2023-11-19, version 5.0.1*

Why is there not a Men’s Health Study option as well?
