Also needs varying runway alignment ### 3/5 — Great potential, but needs dev *2023-01-11, version 1.11* The UI is great…a nice presentation, easy to use and has a realistic feel. Issues that need work as of 1/2023: 1. User needs awareness of why game ended. It seems like if a threshold of errors is reached, the game ends, but why the game ends each time needs to be made apparent to the user. In current state, it feels like the game is crashing. 2. End game screen feels broken: user is presented with coaching/reinforcement, which is fine, but the try again/replay button doesn’t work, so user experience is that the game is frozen. Only way to try again is to close app, and re-launch, which feels like a total loss of previous gameplay. Nevertheless, I keep playing, which says a lot. ### 2/5 — Good, but.. *2022-12-04, version 1.11* Great to pass time, but needs to update based on 7110.65, passing or diverting and merging target procedures. Broke sep on aircraft over 30degrees diverting or paths won’t intercept. As a ATC by myself it is realistic, but a new version and a patch would be good Thx a lot ### 4/5 — Nicely done *2022-10-23* Being an ATCO myself, this game provides a nice degree of realistic a/c performance. Interface works rather smoothly as well, so it’s close to doing the real thing. Recommended! ### 2/5 — A Rando’s Nandos Review *2021-11-14* Ok, first for the free approach sector at least this is way to little space you’ve given for a feeder of directors control. The space between traffic on downwind and traffic on final on the localiser is barely enough and just above 3 miles standard radar separation. Approach sectors for feeder at least have a big sector or larger ones have up to 40NM, also it would be nice to let people know the different altitude intercepts for the glide slope as not every plane can just go from the Outer marker at any altitude and magically descend fast enough for landing. These are all things which don’t require a huge ton of work, I have much more stuff to say on the “realism of this” “ simulator” but I’ve really just complained on the stuff which is already there. Realism of this id give it a 1/5 and I know it isn’t easy to implement all of the things for realism but if you wanted a fair review here it was. ### 3/5 — Glitches *2020-08-18, version 1.11* Really enjoy it. Now, if they could just curb the glitches like when the scores won’t reset ### 4/5 — Great realistic timing. *2018-06-27, version 1.11* Worked as a terminal ATC. Nice for basic training traffic in a terminal environment. Unlike real ATC there are a few things lacking. For sure back and forth communication with pilot and response times in app are way to fast. It's great for getting comfortable with conflict resolution. Not every plane has to land on downwind side of runway they come through the gate at. If your busy and another plane comes in send it over the runway and bring him in on other side or widen him out and give him a bigger downwind. Above all keep vertical separation that's the be all of end all. All together nice realistic app for the scale it's on. Most terminal environments are 30 nm wide. Could use more space to sequence. Also would be nice to have basic aircraft data that tells you if it's a light medium or heavy and then space according to wake turbulence as in the real environment. But crashes after playing it for 10 mins or longer. Played on my ipad 2 and iPhone 6 and it crashes on both. I got annoyed when I got a deal for busting 1000/3 despite having diverging courses. ### 2/5 — Too many bugs *2015-08-16* Frequently crashing when selecting a target, as well as issues with altitude that can only be set to current altitude +/-x*10, and when one error condition is present (distance <3 Nm) other errors aren't detected. At the moment there are better ATC apps. ### 3/5 — Close but a little flawed *2014-12-26* Being someone in aviation, I will say this is as close as you can get for iPhone TRACON simulation, the phraseology is a little wrong and for some reason the you have to force quit the game after each game, otherwise it's a great time passer that's a joy to play. Anything longer than about 10-15min and it crashes. An update would be nice.... How about some new scenarios too? Search for "App Control" by APPalyctus UG who have added far more polish and detail to their ATC sim including real locations, real flight codes, real airframes and crucially actually can save and pause. --- Approach control is a great ATC game and satisfied me from a technical aspect. But as a gamer I am savagely frustrated by lack of a save option and missing ability for time shifting. It was buggy (pause wouldnt work correctly, could not save your game, would hang and reset) but manageable but now (as other reviews confirm) it just blank screens and nothing comes up. The game will be so much better!!! And real people in aviation will give you 5 stars . I'm in aviation, and find this game and Radar Chaos to be fun and realistic. The targets appear as they do on a controllers radar screen. Buy this and Radar Chaos. They're both fun, challenging, true to life, and cheap. Also, try Airport Madness. I killed 2 hours, and it seemed like 15 minutes. I trained to be an Air Traffic Controller and worked in the Simulator and this is very accurate and brings back fond memories. I'm happy to see after 7 years I still can handle it. Haven't tried the other airports yet, but would like to see a dual airport and more variety of planes to up the challenge.
